Chapter 64 Big Mistake
After Alex got the VIP ticket, he didn't waste any time and used it to get immediate access to the teleportation room, and within a few minutes, he was teleported to the Gold Kingdom Capital City.
'The air in this city feels so fresh.' Alex thought, standing in the Gold Kingdom's capital city Quivira, outside the teleportation building.
'I should rent a hotel room for a few hours to unseal the shield, as there is still more than an hour left before the auction starts.'
Alex was already in the city's inner circle, so it didn't take him much time to reach the nearest hotel and rent a room.
-------------------
"This shield looks like a giant hunk of metal with a hideous appearance right now but will its appearance change after getting unsealed?" Alex thought, looking at the three-meter shield.
"Only One way to find out." Alex thought as he took out the Rank five unsealing scroll.
Alex unfolded the scroll and placed it on the shield, and after using the required mana to activate the stored magic spell on the scroll, he stepped back to let the scroll do its job.
The scrolls were made to be used by any person with just a small amount of mana because after the scroll gets activated, it would automatically start gathering the mana from the surrounding area to activate the spell.
After doing the required steps, Alex created a few feet distance from the scroll as he knew after the magic circles drawn on the scroll got activated, the area around the scroll was not going to be safe.
'This is going to be an Epic experience.' Alex thought, sensing the increasing mana in the room.
Alex knew that a Rank Five scroll would create a small phenomenon as it gathered the required mana to activate all the magic circles before it did its intended work.
'Hopefully, it gets the job done before any strong NPC notices the unusual mana activity.' Alex thought as he watched the plain scroll getting filled with complicated circles.
----------------
'This is getting out of hand.' Alex thought, standing in the farthest corner of the room, creating maximum distance from the scroll as the mana gathering around it was overwhelming.
'The City Guard should be alerted by now and will be coming here any moment.' Alex thought, seeing the blunder he had created.
The whole room was a mess, with all the furniture already being destroyed as the wooden floor was getting wretched by the raging mana around the scroll.
The Scroll was still gathering mana, not showing any sign of slowing down, and by each passing second, it was making things worse.
'I should have researched Rank five scrolls before using it like an idiot in such a crowded place.'
'Now I know why Scrolls above Rank four are prohibited from being used in any public place.'
Alex knew a peak Rank five scroll would need a large amount of mana, but he thought things would be alright as he didn't want to go through the hassle of renting a secured chamber to use the scroll.
The secured chambers were protected places in every kingdom for people to use their high Ranking Scroll and test their magic by paying an hourly fee.
Alex had no problem paying the secured chamber fees, but it would take at least two days before he got his turn, and to save time, Alex decided to do it in a hotel room.
Alex had used many Rank Four Scrolls in his previous life, and based on his experience with them, he thought a Rank Five scroll would be at a similar scale, and the little commotion it would create wouldn't be a problem.
'I just hope my Noble Title could save me from getting thrown into jail.' Alex knew that the city guards would be reaching his room any moment and would not treat him nicely after the blunder he had created.
'I think the scroll has stopped pulling mana from the environment.' Alex thought, seeing the raging mana storm in the room getting smaller with each passing second.
After a few seconds, all the mana in the room was sucked into the scroll as the multiple complicated magic circles on it shined like bright stars.
After multiple intricate mana lines connected all the magic circles, the scroll started to disintegrate, and within a few seconds, it completely turned to dust.
'This could have been an incredible experience if I had done it in the right place.' Alex thought as he quickly walked toward the giant shield.
The moment Alex touched the shield, it started to crumble, revealing a pristine wonderful-looking black shield.
'Now, This looks more like a [SS] Rank legacy item.' Alex thought as he picked the new shield, which was much smaller than its previous size and also looked way more pleasing to the eyes.
The shield's new size was close to four feet, with its appearance completely changing from ugly charred black metal to transparent glass with a swirling black portal inside it.
'The is the best-looking shield I have ever seen.' Alex thought, looking at the memorizing swirling black portal inside the glass shield.
The shield was made from unknown material as it looked like glass from its outer transparent appearance, but in reality, it was strong enough to take even the highest level spells without even getting a scratch.
'Let's Check its stats before the guard arrives.'

'Badger will be happy after getting this legacy.' Alex thought as he placed the shield into his secured inventory.
---------------
'The guards are a little late.' Alex thought, sitting on the destroyed floor, not planning on escaping using the invisibility skill because his escape would only cause him more problems as he registered the room with his adventurer card.
As Alex was thinking about leaving the room to talk with the hotel manager to settle this mess by giving him some compensation, he heard a loud boom, and when to looked up, he saw the room door a couple of feet away from crashing into him.
"BOOMMM"
'Did he purposefully aim the door at me?' Alex thought as he jumped to the side to avoid getting hit by the hardwood door.
"BOOOMMMM"
"I don't know if you are delusional or smart for not trying to escape." Alex heard a booming voice as a two-meter muscular man wearing golden armor entered the room.
'What the hell is a Royal Guard doing here?' Alex thought after recognizing the armor of the man who entered the room.
'This hotel doesn't belong to any Royal family member, so a fully armed Royal guard presence in this hotel could only mean one thing.' Alex came to a horrible conclusion after quickly connecting the dots.
'I need to handle this situation carefully, or this bastard will put me in jail, which will mess up all my preparation until this point.'
Alex has a massive deal with Badger and Ravenglades Guild that he needs to complete within a few days, and if he is thrown in jail, it will create a big mess for him.
If Alex got put in jail, he wouldn't be able to message anyone, and when that happened, the deal would not be completed on time, destroying the splendid reputation he had built for his fake organization.
"I think we could solve this situation by having a friendly talk, as this is just a big accident," Alex said as he took out his Guest Nobel badge to calm the situation down.
'If he doesn't want to talk and use brute force to subdue me, I will run away using the invisibility skill.' Alex thought, ready for the guard's response after seeing his Guest's Nobel badge.
Alex didn't use his Nobel authority to demand respect from the Royal guard as he knew it would only piss the Royal guard off because he had more authority than him in the Gold kingdom.
All royal guards have authority equal to Noble Marquess and can even deny the orders of a Duke if they have a valid reason, so Alex being an Earl was nothing to the Royal guard.
"A Guest Nobel Badge that gives you authority equal to that of a Noble Earl in the Gold Kingdom But did you think this could stop me from catching a criminal like you?" The Royal Guard said, not changing his tone after seeing the badge.
"I am willing to pay for all the damage and more compensation for any trouble I have caused to the hotel guests," Alex replied, fully ready to run the moment the guard moved a step toward him.
"Adventurer, I applaud you for having accomplished great achievement to get a Guest Noble Badge, but you need to come with me as you are suspected of trying to assassinate the Royal Prince." The guard said calmly, not moving from his position.
