Chapter 444: Chapter 444: Ancient Evil God Spider Framework
Sister Li saw Li Yao running off in a hurry and laughed, “Looks like you two have repaired your relationship.”
Feng Yi shook her head, “Not yet, it feels like there’s still something that’s holding us back. Maybe he was just too excited this time.”
“Now you two aren’t living together yet, right?” Sister Li wondered.
Feng Yi replied, “No, we aren’t. I feel like he’s avoiding it, but I can’t understand why.”
“Take your time. Anyway, I’m curious to know what will come out of fusing engineering and undead technology,” Sister Li diverted the topic.
“It seems my proposal was useful. He’s on his way to see the queen now, right?” Feng Yi hinted. Both of them were clever enough to deduce that Li Yao must have gone to the queen for help. After all, creating undead creatures was far beyond the capabilities of current players.
Their guess was right. Li Yao indeed went to the Royal District, not to see the queen, but directly to the queen’s female officer.
This situation was extremely important to him, but it would be trivial for the queen. With the queen focused on the war against centaurs, disturbing her wasn’t a wise move.
The queen’s female officer, in essence, acted as the queen’s personal secretary. She held considerable power and managed the everyday affairs of the Undercity when the queen was away.
In Undercity, the queen had the highest status followed by the president of the Great Alchemist Association and a neutral-ranked demon.
However, the queen didn’t fully trust them, and as such, they couldn’t wield considerable influence over Undercity despite their powers.
The officer was powerful and trustworthy due to her exceptional managerial skills, hence she enjoyed the queen’s trust.
As per the news from the Royal Guard, the queen was not in Undercity. However, as the queen’s heir, he had access to the Royal District, even the most secretive labs. There were no forbidden areas for him here.
“I heard your trial went well, and you made us proud. Well done.” The female officer, busy with her duty, gave a familiar greeting to Li Yao. She had a clear understanding of the queen’s intentions. Li Yao’s dazzling performance and the successful execution of several difficult tasks had earned him real trust and favor from the queen. The queen had not made it obvious, but with her long-standing service to the queen, the officer had a clearer understanding of this than anyone.
Between Li Yao’s deliberate acts to earn goodwill and his outstanding performance, she began to regard him as a younger brother, dispensing with the formality expected towards guests.
“All thanks to luck. I’m still a small fry compared to you, Sister.” Li Yao didn’t hold back and sat directly by the officer.
“You’re mistaken. Even the mighty start from humble beginnings. As long as you keep this momentum going, you will undoubtedly become a trusted right-hand man to our queen,” the officer commended seriously.
“Thank you for your guidance, Sister,” Li Yao responded with a bow.
“So, what brings you here today? If it’s something minor, you can come directly to me instead of troubling the queen every time,” the officer joked.
“As expected, Sister, you’re quick to see through things. Here’s the thing: I passed the third phase of the boss level trial, which allows me to keep three boss-level pets. But I’ve run into a bit of trouble while creating a powerful pet, so I was wondering if I could ask for Sister’s assistance,” Li Yao explained straightforwardly.
“Let’s hear about the issue in detail,” the officer suggested after putting down her quill.
“Here’s what happened,” Li Yao explained the problem he faced and said, “So I would like to ask Sister to find a master for me, to see if this creation can be completed.”
“It’s a surprise you thought of this, but your reasoning is correct, and it should indeed work,” the officer stated. “As you may know, the Burning Legion combines the wisdom of numerous intelligent species from main planes. Their expertise in engineering, arrays, cannons, and magic armor is something you should be familiar with. The Scourge Army, on the other hand, inherited this technology from the Burning Legion, but considering their situation, they are more adept at integrating souls and physical bodies. As such, combining steel with a living body isn’t particularly challenging, but it does have a few prerequisites.”
“Feel free to tell me what kind of spider is suitable for combining with steel. It needs to become mechanical, otherwise the benefits to me are limited,” Li Yao explained.
“The requirement is simple: you can’t use an actual flesh-and-blood creature; otherwise, it would end up as an undead being after completion. Real living beings can’t withstand the smithing process,” the officer continued. “If you can find a shale spider, that would be perfect. It’s hard to categorize this spider as either a beast or an elemental being.”
“A shale spider? That’s mostly found in the Earth Elementorb plane. Even if they existed elsewhere, my level wouldn’t be high enough,” Li Yao frowned. “Are there any other spiders that would work? Or is this the only suitable kind?”
“There’s also the rare crystal spider, but this kind is incredibly hard to find due to its stringent spawning conditions. In contrast, the shale spider just requires sufficient strength to locate. Yet, finding a crystal spider is more about luck; who can say where they might appear?” the female officer explained. “Attempting to acquire this spider might prove difficult.”
“Crystal spider,” Li Yao thought of the crystal spider that hadn’t shown up much since it was used in the tenth-level side quest. He summoned it and said, “Sister, do you mean this kind?”
The crystal spider immediately started to rub against Li Yao’s leg after being summoned, making him feel somewhat guilty. He immediately fed it a crystal, which boosted the spider’s happiness significantly.
“It seems fate is on our side, with this spider the job will be a lot easier to accomplish,” the female officer acknowledged.
“But this spider’s rank is too low. After transformation, I fear…” Li Yao expressed his worries; after all, the crystal spider was merely a silver hero.
“You mustn’t underestimate this spider. It forms under very harsh conditions, and its soul is different from ordinary creatures. Its crystal core resembles a mechanical core; it can resurrect as long as its core isn’t damaged. Even more importantly, its body is easy to remodel and fuse. You have relics of ancient gods, don’t you? Why not use them on the crystal spider? You could create an imposing Evil Spider Leader, which, after fusing with your spider tank shell, would become stronger than the conceptual spider tank and work similarly to magic armor,” the officer explained patiently.
“Since Sister says it is so, I must rely on you.” Li Yao felt elated in his heart. Naturally, the power of the demonic machinery was unquestionable.
“Alright then, give me a half hour to finalize these official duties. After that, I’ll gather the team and move to your lab to create this thing together. I too would like to see the result of combining a crystal spider, the remnants of an ancient god, and mechanical metal,” the female officer stated excitedly.
“Sure, I’ll wait for you here. You can go ahead with your work, Sister,” Li Yao nodded and stopped speaking. He was indeed very excited…
