Chapter 1289: Giving an Explanation

"What...?"

"How in the...?"

"...Damn."

Unsurprisingly, after they saw SeventhShield look at Valyr's status screen with immense shock on his face, Zack and the others allowed their curiosity to get the better of them as they took a look at it themselves.

"200 points?" murmured Zack in disbelief, only to then look at the young man for answers. "You're telling me that your lowest stat is around 200 points?"

"I mean... you're already looking at your answer," replied Valyr with a chuckle, highly amused by the four's reactions. "The system wouldn't lie, no?"

"You know that's not what I meant, right?" answered Zack back with a question of his own.

"What I'm trying to say is..."

With his expression containing both anticipation and curiosity, he asked Valyr what he felt like was the most important question to ask.

"How did you get those stats in the first place?"

"Oh, that's simple," answered Valyr without hesitation, briefly causing shock to the four before looking at one another with excitement written all over their faces.

However, once they heard the next words that left the young man's mouth, the four glanced at each other as if they'd gotten a taste of horse shit.

"Well, almost all of my stats come from elixirs, specifically ones that come directly from the Meltierre Empire," said the young man to them, enthusiastically explaining each step he took to get his hands on the elixirs.

"Once you get to the Meltierre Empire, what you want to do is to make your way to the Meltierre Heavenly Court and befriend someone known as the Imperial Alchemist."

"As long as your relationship with the Imperial Alchemist is close enough, you'll be able to ask elixirs from them and they'll give it to you without any strings attached."

"...Does that answer your question?"

"... You know, if you wanted to keep it a secret, you could just tell us that from the start, no?" said SeventhShield to Valyr after some time, letting out a faint sigh as he continued to ponder over the latter's words.

"It's not like we're Darklight. We're just genuinely curious as to how you got your stats. After all, who doesn't want to become stronger?"

"But alright. Let's assume that what you're telling us is true," continued the man.

"If we wanted to get to Meltierre Empire, the easiest way would be to use the class guilds' teleportation halls."

"However, in order to do that, not only would he have to head to the nearest town, but we'd also need to reach a certain rank in our class guild before we'd get access to them."

"Just so you know, the NPC that helped me register into the Knight Guild told me that," said the man at the end of his explanation. "Aside from that, the other ways available to us to get to the Meltierre Empire take a long time."

"Perhaps it could only take months. Perhaps it could take years."

"With that being said, if what you told us was true, you headed to the Meltierre Empire, became friends with the Imperial Alchemist, grabbed elixirs from them, and headed back to Daffors Village... all in the span of less than a month?"

"...As I thought." Seeing that Valyr remained silent even after he was done explaining, SeventhShield felt like he'd hit the bullseye.

Yet, for some unknown reason, he felt like there was a slight possibility that the young man's words were true.

In the end, the entire group decided to move on from the topic as they began to discuss what they'd do with the remaining items Darklight 'gave' them.

And so, with the exception of Darklight's armor set, the five of them all came to a unanimous agreement that they'd sell the man's items and then evenly split the money they got from it.

With that, after the four gave Valyr a bit of money in exchange for the items they got from the boss, it was only then did the group finally leave the dungeon for good, marking their attempt at an Insane difficulty run as a success.

-

After leaving the dungeon, the five of them were immediately greeted by the sight of multiple groups looking at them in disbelief, causing them to let out peals of laughter as they made their way back to the village.

Briefly discussing how their group had appeared on the forum's unofficial ranking for the dungeon, the five of them then began to sell off all of Darklight's items, making sure to get the highest price they could while doing so.

"15 silvers. Not bad."

Distributing the profit they gained from the man's items evenly among them, SeventhShield then went ahead and asked Valyr if he could add him to his friend list, only for the other three to follow suit after that.

Feeling like they'd done everything they needed to do that, SeventhShield and the others that now was a good time for them to separate from Valyr, only for a sudden question to pop up in the man's mind before doing so.

"Say, Ataraxia."

"Hmm?"

"If you don't mind... could you join us for a run sometime in the future?"

"Sure," replied Valyr with a smile, prompting SeventhShield and the others to smile back in return. "Just make sure to not invite someone like Darklight into the party next time."

"I'll make sure to do that," said SeventhShield in return, letting out a chuckle before he and the others finally bade farewell to Valyr.

Watching the silhouettes of the four gradually disappear from his field of vision, the young man soon heard a notification go off in his mind, prompting him to take a look at what it was.

Seeing that it was a message from SeventhShield, Valyr went ahead and opened it, only to feel a smile creep up on the edge of his lips after he was done reading.

"I'm not sure what guild Darklight said exactly before he died, but if you're fine with it, we could take a look into what it is."

"As long as it doesn't take up too much of your time," replied Valyr after pondering over it for a bit. "After all, this is a problem I brought unto myself."

"Don't worry. I'm sure it won't take too long," wrote SeventhShield in his response. "Plus, it's not like we could ignore something like that. After all, we feel a bit guilty for having you join our party in the first place."

After exchanging a few more messages between the two of them, Valyr soon closed the screen he brought up with a slightly amused smile on his face.

'I wasn't planning on showing my strength that way... but all's well that ends well.' Finally feeling like he'd taken a step to get closer to his final goal, the young man went ahead and made his way to the inn as a number of thoughts began to swirl in his mind.

'Well, aside from getting the drop from the Medium difficulty super-boss, I suppose the only thing I need to do before ascending is to solidify my foundation even further.'

'...I've already got more than enough stats to guarantee a good class. I could definitely say the

same thing for my skills.'

'In that case... I guess it's time to act on that idea I had, then.'

'Time to make use of the Records.'
