Chapter 897 Valyr's Return

Chapter 897  Valyr's Return

Surrounding the stone structure that served as the only entrance to the Four Pillars' Inheritance was an incredibly dense forest that spanned for miles beyond end.

However, as news of Valyr and the others entering the inheritance having reached the orcs, as well as the state of the war worsening with the passage of time, it was no surprise that the orcs have made a move.

Specifically, they decided to raze a considerable portion of the forest surrounding the stone structure.

With that, a great portion of the area surrounding the stone structure was now deprived of trees and shrubbery, with a large number of tall green-skinned beings patrolling the area as they tightly held onto their weapons.

"Haah… how much longer do we have to guard this place, Vromek?" Letting out a long sigh as he continued to keep an eye on his surroundings, an orc struck up a conversation with the orc accompanying him on his patrol.

Vromek shrugged in response to the question. "It depends on whether or not the last human to enter the inheritance comes out. If that human comes out early, then we leave early. If not…"

At those words, the orc let out yet another sigh. "I enlisted in this war in the hopes of that I would make my family proud for fighting for my life. Never once did I think I'd be sent here just to keep an eye on a possible threat."

"They're not just possible threats, Zaurog." Vromek glanced at his companion for a bit. "They're actual threats, especially if we give them time to grow stronger."

"All of the humans chosen to enter this place are talented and strong in their own right," continued Vromek. "With the help of the inheritance the humans entered, that fact was only boosted even further."

"Tell me, Zaurog. Do you really think a normal human at the peak of Rank 3 would have that much power? Enough power to even pose a threat to us chosen here?"

"…" Listening to the orc's explanation, Zaurog mulled over them in silence, recalling the things that had happened here in the past. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Though he was not part of the group that met the first group of humans to leave the entrance at first, he had heard from those that were able to escape with their lives that the two humans were a force to be reckoned with.

Against a group of dozens of orcs whose ranks varied between Rank 4 and Rank 5, the two humans were able to kill half of them without much effort, instilling fear into those that had been unknowingly spared by the two.

By the time Zaurog had been part of the group that patrolled the inheritance's entrance, another pair of humans had left the inheritance once more.

However, unlike the two humans that left the inheritance before them, the pair exuded an aura that began to rival even the strongest of orcs within the patrol group.

Understanding that they would just be laying out their lives for nothing if they were to face the two, the orcs allowed the two to leave, but only after sending news back of the four humans that had left.

Realizing as to how long it had been since the last pair of humans had left the inheritance, Zaurog faintly shuddered in fear as to the level of strength the last human in the inheritance would reach.

At that thought, the orc let out a long sigh. "I don't know if I've antagonized anyone before, but I really feel like I've pulled the short end of the stick this time around."

"You could definitely say that again." Vromek bitterly smiled in agreement. "The fact that five humans had entered the inheritance this time around instead of the usual four is definitely a cause for concern."

"But alas, there's not much we can do about it, especially with how one of the Khorza'an's Chosen had assigned us here," said the orc as he shook his head.

"That damn Khorza'an's Chosen…" muttered Zaurog in response, gritting his teeth in slight anger.

Whoosh!

Though, before the orc could continue his words, a faint ripple emanated from the stone structure, prompting all of those in the patrol group to look in the direction of its origin.

Seeing a sole human had appeared at the entrance of the inheritance, all of the orcs immediately went on guard, staring at the man with both vigilance and slight bloodlust.

However, that all changed when the human began to clutch his head in pain.

"Fuck me, man."

Just a while ago, the young man had appeared at the entrance of the Four Pillars' Inheritance, taking care of a worry he had regarding his new position as owner of the inheritance.

Though, before he could relish in that relief he felt, a throbbing pain soon covered his entire head, prompting to clutch his head as the pain worsened over time.

'How much time have I spent alongside Vaughn?' asked Valyr to himself, inwardly muttering all sorts of curses at the heavens for introducing this side effect in the first place.

Taking in a few deep breaths as he began to gradually slow down his thoughts, the young man felt some of the pain subside, allowing him to take a better look at his surroundings.

Unfortunately, just as he did so, Valyr felt his head ache once more, prompting him to conjure a Water-based spell around his head before adjusting its temperature to alleviate more of the pain.

Taking a few more deep breaths after that, the young man returned his attention to his surroundings, instantly noticing the fact that part of the dense forest that covered the stone structure he was on had been razed to the ground.

In the place of where the forest once was were orcs numbering over a hundred at the very least, all of them holding onto their weapons as their passive auras gave Valyr a rough idea of their strengths.

'Peak of Rank 4 to around the middle levels of Rank 5…' thought Valyr to himself, thanking the heavens as he gradually felt the pain beginning to subside.

Looking at them for a bit more, the young man noticed that the orcs were all looking at him with vigilance, tightly clutching onto their weapons in case he attacked them.

Though, as he immediately went to the ground as he clutched his head in pain, it seemed as if the orcs had visibly relaxed, deciding to take a look-and-see approach on what to do next.

'Well, I think I've gotten a rough idea of what's going on.' Taking a few more deep breaths as he reduced the temperature of the water surrounding his head, Valyr slowly stood up, causing the orcs to start tightly gripping onto their weapons once more.

'But of course, since I've been in the inheritance all this time…'

'It doesn't hurt to get more information from these guys.'

Looking at the orcs that surrounded him one by one, the young man soon flashed a faint smile at them, making some of the orcs look at him in confusion.

Taking advantage of their confusion, he then released a bit of his Azure Energy just as he slammed both of his hands to the ground, enveloping both him and the orcs in a domain.

"[Four Paths Azure Magic Arts]."

"[Dominion of the Azure Turtle].
