Chapter 47: I Gave You A Chance
Chapter 47: I Gave You A Chance
Under the terrifying force, not a single piece of flesh remained from the mortal body. A vast mist of blood lingered in front of the White House, exuding a pungent stench that refused to dissipate...
The previous supporters, upon witnessing the scene, screamed in terror, with some even fainting from fear.
In this grim setting, the White-Haired Mutant stood in the air, ignoring the soldiers in front of him as he made a declaration to the President inside the White House:
He, has arrived...
The soldiers ahead stood in formation, staring seriously at the White-Haired Mutant floating like a god in the air before them.
Though fully armed, they felt no sense of security and had no thought of defeating the White-Haired Mutant.
Whether it was the terrifying force that obliterated everything with a single strike or the countless previous victories, all indicated that the White-Haired Mutant was not someone they could contend with.
Some soldiers trembled slightly; although they had been to war and seen hell on earth, they had never seen anything like this.
The White-Haired Mutant, standing in the air amidst a mist of blood, was enveloped by a breeze mixed with the thick scent of blood, carrying the purest malice, ready to engulf them all.
If this continued, even these well-trained soldiers would likely flee. They were human too, and they feared death—especially when faced with an invincible enemy and an unwinnable battle.
Inside the White House, the President was also informed of the arrival of the White-Haired Mutant. He immediately realized what was happening...
The White-Haired Mutant was here.
He must be here to retaliate for the military's attack on him a while ago.
Damn it, damn it, what should I do?
The President hadn't fled because, according to intelligence, the White-Haired Mutant had a flight speed of over ten Mach, long-range attack capabilities, and wide-range sensory abilities!
The moment the White-Haired Mutant appeared, he had already locked onto him. If he dared to flee, death would be the only outcome!
Suddenly, the President thought of something and immediately instructed his panicked assistant:
"Notify the X-Men and tell them to stop the White-Haired Mutant. If I'm killed by him, the Mutant Liberation Act will never be passed!"
...
Even without the President's warning, the X-Men would never allow the White-Haired Mutant to act unchecked.
But when they wanted to intervene, it was already too late...
Black lightning erupted, blood mist spread, and the area turned into a living hell in an instant!
Professor X saw the distant scene, and his heart sank...
This time, the White-Haired Mutant had killed hundreds of civilians. Even with the best possible handling afterward, the Mutant Liberation Act would likely never be passed!
Staring at the White-Haired Mutant, who was taunting the White House, the President, the entire U.S. government, and the officials, Professor X's face grew serious as he spoke gravely into the minds of the X-Men:
"We cannot let Alex kill the President, or the divide between mutants and humans will never be bridged, only deepen into permanent opposition!"
Hearing Professor X's words, the X-Men rushed toward Alex.
Storm flew into the air and questioned the White-Haired Mutant:
"Why are you doing this? Don't you realize that this will only worsen the relationship between mutants and humans?"
The White-Haired Mutant paid her no mind...
Cyclops arrived soon after and also questioned Alex:
"Why, as a fellow mutant, are you hindering the passage of the Mutant Liberation Act?!"
Alex ignored him as well...
Mystique emerged from the crowd, reverting to her true form. She shouted at the White-Haired Mutant in hatred:
"You've destroyed decades of effort! You've ruined the future of countless mutants! Your crimes are unforgivable!"
But— Alex remained silent, looking forward with indifference, unconcerned with her anger or the future of mutants, standing high above in the sky!
Cyclops could no longer tolerate the White-Haired Mutant's arrogance. He removed his glasses, unleashing a searing beam from his eyes that shot outward with such great force.
Simultaneously, Storm activated her powers, causing the wind to howl and the sky to darken. Violent lightning bolts struck down, targeting the White-Haired Mutant!
Yet, even in the face of these attacks, the White-Haired Mutant remained unmoved, letting the attacks hit him!
Seeing this, excitement flashed across Cyclops's face. He hadn't expected the White-Haired Mutant to be so arrogant, completely ignoring their attacks. This drastically improved their slim chances of success!
Facing a seemingly invincible opponent, they finally had some hope!
He immediately increased the output of his laser beam, trying to seriously wound the White-Haired Mutant in one strike. Storm did the same.
But, unlike them, Professor X's expression grew more solemn instead of relaxed as he watched from afar!
Because he remembered the White-Haired Mutant's ability to continuously grow stronger, a power almost identical to that of a terrifying enemy from the past!
"Could it be..."
The next moment, as the laser beam and lightning struck the White-Haired Mutant, to everyone's shock, he remained unscathed!
Whether it was the violent lightning or the scorching laser, they visibly dimmed as they approached the White-Haired Mutant, eventually being absorbed into his body!
All this energy was being absorbed by the White-Haired Mutant!
From afar, Professor X confirmed his suspicion: the White-Haired Mutant's energy absorption ability had also evolved, now rivaling, or perhaps even surpassing, that of Sebastian Shaw.
Alex ignored the attacks from behind. Although the energy from the "power banks" was minimal, it shouldn't go to waste.
He took a step forward, and a violent force rapidly spread from his body. First, the grass, then the fountain, the floor, the earth, and finally, the fully armed soldiers!
The next moment, with a deafening roar, dust and grass debris intertwined with the blood mist, dissipating into the whirlwind stirred by the terrifying force!
"No!"
Seeing this, Cyclops grew emotional. His power intensified several times due to his emotional outburst, but even the thicker laser beam could only continue to supply energy to Alex without harming him in the slightest!
The X-Men faced the White-Haired Mutant like ordinary humans faced them—weak and powerless.
This was a fundamental difference.
At that moment, Alex suddenly sensed a powerful energy rising behind him, an energy that embodied both destruction and life, clearly damaged yet still grand!
He felt that this power bypassed his energy absorption ability and began to disintegrate his body!
Although the disintegration was slow and posed no real threat, it still piqued his interest.
He finally turned around slowly, looked at the distant Phoenix with her gradually reddening eyes, and smiled brightly...
"I gave you a chance."
