My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

The police truly worked hard that day. By noon, they had already narrowed down the suspect to 143 people, it was a miniscule number compared to the thousands influx that were constantly coming and going around in the Recreational Park. All of them had the same description; carrying the luggage bag, passed through the waterfall fountain, and at some point of time, the luggage disappeared from their hands.

Jin Renguang and his subordinates didn't even cross out young ladies or old people, no matter how small the possibility was, they couldn't let it go.

By three in the evening, they had narrowed it down further until there were 98 remaining. The investigation carried on until late at night. When the room in the Police Bureau turned dark one by one, only their office was still bright with light.

"Captain! Captain!" Wang Chengbing connected with the large projector screen in the SCI office. His fatty face flushed with excitement. His surroundings were dark, and there were car headlights passing by occasionally. Only the light from the laptop that illuminated his face. "Look at this! I will send it to you in a second!"

Jin Renguang received a new email the next moment. He clicked it open and saw a video that was around 10 minutes long. Inside, there was the record of the park's surveillance, the people were stuck together like sardines but Wang Chengbing had clearly marked one of them with a red circle.

"At nine in the morning, he entered with a group of people. Look, he's carrying the exact same luggage." The people in the office crowd behind Jin Renguang and the man zoomed in on the video while Wang Chengbing was explaining.

"He went through multiple places such as the restaurant by the lake, the amusement park, I won't show it to you about this. Then, please drag the video to 4 minutes 12 seconds, there he passed through the waterfall fountain and sat on the bench for almost half an hour, his bag was placed beside him."

Jin Renguang fast-forwarded the video and saw the man sitting on the bench as he faced the playing children. But because the CCTV was too far, they couldn't see his expression clearly. If not for Wang Chengbing saying that, they wouldn't have realized it because almost three quarters of the bag was covered by the man's body.

After sitting for almost half an hour, he stood up and went somewhere hurriedly, joining with the crowd of people that almost swallowed him whole. Jin Renguang frowned, he could only see him up to his shoulder because of the crowd.

"Now, move the video to 8 minutes and 34 seconds," Wang Chengbing voice grew more and more excited. "See, his hands became empty and the last moment the bag was seen was near the fountain! And the bench where he sat was near the place where we found the body part!"

Jin Renguang's eyes deepened and he replayed the video three more times, scrutinized each of the scenes deeply in contemplation.

"Captain," Tang Wei's voice sounded behind him. "This man, he's included in the 98 people we're currently investigating!"

Jin Renguang clenched his fist and his eyes deepened. "Search up all of the information about this man as soon as possible!"

"Yes, sir!"

The tedious investigation finally saw light and everyone regained their vigor. Jin Renguang pinched his brows and rested his dry eyes. His mind constantly whirled at high speed.

His subordinates were truly efficient. Not even twenty minutes passed and they had already dug out all of the information about that man up to his thirteen ancestors. Jin Renguang accepted the report and flipped it quickly.

Yu Chuan, 34 years old. Male. Married five years ago and had a three years old son and one year old daughter. He worked as a salesman in a pharmaceutical company that specialized in researching bone marrow and osteoporosis. He used to live in City S, but because of a promotion, he brought his family to settle in City A almost a year ago. His salary was higher than 50% of all the people in City A.

He had a clean and gentle temperament, his eyebrows were straight and his eyes were clear.

Jin Renguang raised his brows, his fingers tapped on the armchair.

He was pondering deeply when all of a sudden, the office door swung open and there came Lin Zhouyi, bringing with him the thick scent of disinfectant and a faint trace of formalin. "Captain." He nodded, his hands holding a stack of paper.

"What's wrong?"

"The forensic missed something. When they brought the leg out, there was quite a lot of blood smeared into the inner cloth of the bag. Then, the result showed that the blood belonged to Su Bina. Just like before, there weren't any fingerprints detected."

"Then?" Jin Renguang spun his swivel chair and received the report that Lin Zhouyi handed. He flipped through slowly to understand the indecipherable biological terms of DNA, chromosome and so what.

"Then, we found a strand of hair, it is our negligence. The bag was black and the hair was so short and covered in blood that we almost missed it. At first, we thought that it's just Su Bina's hairleg."

Jin Renguang lifted his head, speechless. "You know that you can't speculate about something like that before there's conclusive evidence right?"

Lin Zhouyi nodded. "I have my own doubts and then, I brought it to the lab to find who the short hair belonged to." He pointed out. "Please turn to the last page. The hair belonged to a male named Yu Chuan, male, 34 years old. I have matched his DNA with the database."

Jin Renguang's eyes turned razor sharp as he directly flipped the report to the last page. The report box clearly stated that the hair belonged to Yu Chuan.

"Great!" Tang Wei trembled with excitement. "We have just zeroed in on a possible suspect named Yu Chuan! Your eyes are so good, Comrade Chengbing!"

Wang Chengbing beamed and gave a thumbs up.

"Really?" Startled, Lin Zhouyi murmured. "Such a coincidence…"

"There's no coincidence in this world. Only premeditated action." Jin Renguang stated with a low voice. When he lifted his head again, there was a smile on his face. "Good job, everyone! Let's finish inspecting all of the remaining people and rule out the suspicious ones! Ke Shao, tomorrow, send a warrant to escort Yu Chuan to the police station. I want him to arrive here at eight!"

"Yes, sir!"
