Chapter 74 A Wave of Reality
Chapter 74 A Wave of Reality
"No, I still have hope!" he looked at his curious mother looking at them from her bed, and muttered with gritted teeth. "I can have a breakthrough and reach Power Birth, then I will be allowed to come back."
Ruo hugged him from the back. Han Li was barely 33 years old and even the youngest Power Birth in the sect ever was 50. Both of them knew how improbable Han Li achieving the said feat was.
"But I am more worried about you guys Ruo… 7 years without me. Can you handle it?"
"You taught me the sword big brother. And the sect rules are on our side."
Han Li's eyes flashed open as it malevolently roamed around his room. His gaze was filled with a profound sense of suppressed emotions. He clenched his hands and breathed in heavily.
Then breathed out. His crimson eyes shined dimly for a long second as his tense body started to relax. "…It was a dream…"
That was right, his Mom was alive. Ruo was also waiting for him.
Briefly, that moment flashed past his mind, it was after his mother's death that he lost Ruo. That day was as vivid as yesterday in his mind.
He looked up. His heart tearing apart and his cheeks silently streaming with tears. Above was a woman's corpse hung on an ancient tree and beside it was a note written in blood. "Betrayed by the person I love, there is no longer a reason to live."
He looked up at the lifeless eyes of the woman and breathed heavily for a while. He didn't know why, but the sword on his back felt heavier than ever as he gazed at her with a dying heart.
"…I didn't want to betray you… no…Ruo… I didn't betray you… it was all a scheme… a scheme…" He clenched the tree bark as his heart started to clench.
Why did all this hell have to be given to him?! I lost mother, and I now lose you too?
Is this the price of me walking the demonic path?! Do I have to lose even more of mine? n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
He weakly kneeled on the ground, hitting his head against the tree again and again as his body shivered. The snowstorm seemed to have flowed into his heart, making it as cold as dead winter.
…
Han Li looked towards the sky with a sigh. His heart was beating heavily with forgotten emotions. Throughout his life like a dead man for those 500 years, he had forgotten that he had emotions, that beautiful face had gotten slightly blurry.
"Breakthrough Dreams are such great things…"
He yearned for the sight of that gentle beauty. He yearned to feel her warmth. "Ruo… my Ruo…" He paused. "Indeed, in my past life, I had killed myself." He said, strengthening his resolve even further on the path of a true demon.
He had given up on her by himself. She had been too beautiful, if he had to protect her, his goal of one day becoming powerful enough to resurrect Yue Li would be just impossible.
But he hadn't expected her to go and suicide. He hadn't expected her to really… leave him.
Nevertheless, that had been one of the biggest strengthening of his heart.
"I have been an unforgivable husband…" Clenching his hands, his heart started to ache. "Do I… still deserve you?"
He had always only ended up disappointing his loved ones. The people whom he had pushed away in his path of demonhood were numerous. His mother's death was like a switch that turned him from someone else to another person.
Even his previous Heart of Cultivation was in a sense, an extremely selfish one. To protect Yue Li and reach the level of immortality, to be able to control life and death — that was his dao heart.
He had reduced as many hindrances as possible. It was a path that was no good to him. He was more like an emotionless slave to the Dao. He was nothing.
But as a true demon, his emotions were worthy of his consideration. He was allowed to love, he was allowed to dream beyond the Dao.
He silently contemplated. "I hope I can gain your forgiveness this time around…"
Then, he took a deep breath and murmured in dissatisfaction. "I should have brought some wine. What a waste…"
If his path of cultivation was his personal hell, his woman was his beacon of light, the heaven in hell. But for now, what mattered was training. Cultivation. Only with enough strength can he stand a chance at conquering the hell for himself.
Sitting cross-legged, his consciousness reached his Empty Space. In the deep darkness of the space sat a fire-like bright red soul. "Minor Dao Soul of Lust." Han Li murmured.
If a Power Cultivator of any Spark succeeds in his attempt at Evolution, his Spark will Evolve into a Minor Dao Soul. If Yue Li, for example, succeeds in her Evolution, her spark will become a Minor Dao Soul of Rainwater.
Even Han Li didn't know how many Daos were there in this world. But he knew that all Sparks were like the tickets to enter the cultivation of a Dao.
There were 7 Great Daos — Life, Light, Darkness, Water, Air, Earth, and Fire. But they were 'Great' Daos. The amount of ordinary Daos that people could take control of to gain powers was almost countless in all of the seven continents. Lust, for example, is a Dao.
And since Han Li had the ticket to walk on the Lust Dao Path — the Lust Spark — once he evolved, he gained 'Minor' control over the Dao, and his Spark and Soul combined to become a Minor Lust Dao Soul, also called, Minor Dao Soul of Lust.
Now he had minor control over the Dao of Lust. And could learn its powers.
But as Han Li gazed at his Dao Soul, he couldn't help but frown. Unlike his previous life, there was something different about his Dao Soul this time.
