Chapter 422: This is... Acceptable...
Chapter 422: This is... Acceptable...
'Well, I hope you get a good rest Queresha,' Zenobia tried to think how late Queresha would be tomorrow, and the reason why she was so certain that she would be late was…
'What is the point of this?' Queresha was thinking about the fact that she was on her way to the mansion to rest.
She herself knew better than anyone else how pointless this was at the moment, and Zenobia should also know about it, but even then she was pushed to do this.
And Queresha understood the point, she hadn't slept for the past few days, this caused some of the constellations to become alert, some were even messaging her to rest out of concern. And since there was concern, there were also doubts.
'So, I suppose I can just go into the room to pretend I am asleep,' Queresha thought glancing at the laptop in her hand.
This is why she was bringing it along, she had made a deal with the Dokkaebi to exclude everyone's personal room in the mansion from being streamed, and it worked well.
'That one is up to something…' Queresha thought recalling her conversation with the Dokkaebi named Bi-hyung.
The way he so easily complied was suspicious, but she didn't have the time for that. So, she accepted it for now and decided to see what happens later.
'I should finish this work today,' Queresha will be focused on working with Zenobia from tomorrow onwards, so she was thinking of finishing her current work.
Their project would be important for the future of this group, so she couldn't delay it.
'Everyone else seems to be out,' Queresha confirmed looking at the lifeless mansion, and it was understandable since they all had their jobs to do at the moment.
The group was still getting on its feet, the systems were just implemented, not to mention, that they needed to do more than this in the future, which is why laying down the groundwork now was important.
Those were her thoughts, till she opened the door to her room. Queresha didn't know that someone was waiting for her in the room.
"Yo," Queresha was frozen at the door hearing that familiar greeting. She looked up and found him sitting on the bed.
"You came…" Queresha muttered looking at Haru, she thought that he wouldn't be coming today, because there were still things that needed to be done.
So, even if she did want to see him, Queresha knew that it might take a few more days for that to happen.
'I was even more certain of that since he rushed today's plan by so much,' Queresha thought that something else might have happened for him to do that, 'Was it… because of that?'
But now she thought that it was because of the message she sent him yesterday, and recalling his answer she was rooted on the spot.
"I told you I'll be back by the next day, right?" Haru said while walking towards her.
"That… you did…" Before she could process it, he was already in front of her.
'Did he…?' Queresha's thoughts were cut off, as soon as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Now time to sleep," And while Queresha was in a daze she was taken to the bed, even the laptop was gone from her hands before she could react.
And now she was on the bed, with her head in his lap…
"Haru…" She tried to protest, but it was useless.
"No more work for today," Haru pressed her lips with his finger.
"…" Queresha couldn't say anything, no it would be true to say that, she had never been able to say anything when he acted like this.
'My body just doesn't move …on its own,' Queresha didn't know what to say to this, since her body listened to him more than herself but, 'I suppose… that's acceptable.'
"I'll rest for a few hours…" She said in a soft tone, one she never used with someone else.
"No, you'll sleep for the entire night," But Haru wouldn't fall for that, he was determined to let Queresha get a proper break.
"But…" Queresha wanted to speak, but once again her lips stopped moving thanks to his eyes.
"You haven't been resting for the past few days," Haru was worried since in the current state, she was more vulnerable then before.
"…" Queresha wanted to say that she did rest, since technically she did stop for some time in between, and make it seem like she was taking a nap, but…
'I can't even lie to him,' Queresha just couldn't do it, even a technical lie was impossible for her.
"You know, that it has started to affect you already," Haru said and there was no way Queresha wasn't aware of it.
'But no one else has been able to catch it yet,' Queresha knew why Zenobia sent her away that way, it seemed that she knew about Haru waiting for her.
It was just that no one had any idea of how tired she really was, this was all because it was hard to read her unless they were talking about a certain topic, even for people who knew her well.
"I understand that the current work is important," But Haru seemed to always see through her, "But you need to know that the only reason we are doing this, is for the safety of you all."
Haru wasn't worried about himself, he knew that he would find a way to get out of here by hook or by crook, but his main concern was the ones he brought with him.
This is why he had to be so careful about everything he did, but here there was one, who was neglecting her health. It was just that he knew she wasn't doing it on purpose…
"Hmm, I understand," Queresha nodded slightly hearing his words, "I am sorry for troubling you." Her condition really didn't make it easy for her to follow what he wanted.
So, it just made her feel worse.
"No, it was my fault this time," Haru also knew about so he admitted his mistake while caressing her face, "I won't leave you alone again."
Queresha looked at his smile and felt her heart warm up, she could feel the coldness leave her just by being near him.
"You'll never … leave me?" Queresha asked reaching for his face, she had been meaning to ask this question for some time now.
"Never…" Haru smiled grabbing her hand, and lightly kissing it, "No matter what, I won't leave you."
"I… can live with… that…" Queresha smiled while her voice became smaller, her eyelids became heavy and soon she was asleep.
Once again she was in a similar darkness, and once again she was hearing voices, but they were different from before…
"He'll leave you…"
"He is …lying"
"He'll leave you behind, just like you did to us."
"Yeah, just like you left us behind…."
"Just like that..."
Queresha looked around in the darkness and she could spot no one, just different voices coming from all directions. And even if the words they were saying were something that had kept her up for the past nights.
"He will not," Queresha said and the voices became silent.
"He will not leave me," To Queresha those words were enough.
'I trust his words more... my own,' Queresha knew that it was a dangerous dependency, but it was something she didn't mind.
"It is fine," Queresha muttered, this was the reason her body listened to him, it found him more dependable than herself.
And it wasn't without reason, she was finally able to get some sleep after a few torturous nights, she wanted to sleep but couldn't. And he was able to do that in less than a minute.
'She is finally asleep now,' Haru thought looking at the serene expression on her face, 'We need to figure out a way to fix this.' He gently caressed her head.
This issue was a big deal for Queresha, but so far there was nothing he could do aside from calm her down like this.
[Haru…] It was then that Haru heard Kurumi's voice after a few days, and…
'So, what happened?' Haru asked about the thing he asked her to see, and listening to the tone of her voice, it didn't look like it was good news.
[There is no other way…] Kurumi didn't sound thrilled about this, it was clear that it didn't work out.
'Then I guess I'll find a new way,' Haru said as if that was a matter of fact.
[Haru…?] Kurumi sounded worried now but there was no way to talk to him.
"I can't break my promise, you know?" Haru muttered looking at Queresha, she was still holding onto his hand in her sleep.
[Then…] Kurumi sighed, she understood what would happen.
"Yeah, we'll end it here,"
