Chapter 295: Explosion



Getting to the mall was no easy task, but sneaking into the underground parking lot proved even more challenging.

Taking in the scene before her, Yao Ran realized they couldn't proceed to the underground parking lot.

She moved closer to Long Yu and whispered, "A Yu, let's set the explosives here. This mutant plant is dormant for now, but we must leave before it notices us."

Long Yu, having fought this mutant plant in his previous life, understood its danger all too well. He nodded, and the two of them quickly planted the explosives around the mall. Once the explosives were in place, they hurriedly left.

Spotting the light, Long Yu said, "It's a signal from Wu Lian. His team had planted the explosives."

After returning the signal gun to his backpack, Long Yu grabbed Yao Ran's hand, and together they ran to a safe distance. Hiding behind an abandoned bus, they waited patiently. Moments later, two more red lights illuminated the sky, followed by a green flare.

Seeing the green signal, Long Yu pressed the detonator. A second later, explosions echoed through the silent night, shaking the ground across the city center.

After destroying the shopping center, Long Yu and Yao Ran hurried back to an abandoned building in the suburbs of Juncheng City. When they arrived, the others were already waiting for them.

Once they stepped into the building, Wu Lian asked, "Did any of you spot the mutant rat king?"

"No." Long Yu shook his head, as did the others.

Wu Lian frowned, muttering in confusion, "Could the mutant rat king have already left Juncheng City?"

Shi Xuan pulled out a laptop and a surveillance drone from his backpack.

As he powered up the laptop, he said, "I will observe the situation outside. If the mutant rat king is still in Juncheng City, there should be some activity by now."

Two minutes later, the drone flew out from the abandoned building and flew toward the city center. Inside the abandoned building, Long Yu, Yao Ran, and the others crowded around Shi Xuan, watching the laptop screen display the situation on the way to the city center.

Looking at the black mass below, Jia Xiang shuddered, goosebumps rising on her arms. "How many mutant rats are there in this city? I hope the explosives took out at least some of them," she said, her voice tinged with disgust.

Hearing her comment, Shi Xuan teased, "A Xiang, I never thought you'd get scared by rats."

Jia Xiang smacked his shoulder and rolled her eyes. "I'm not scared-just disgusted by those dirty mutant rats."

Before Shi Xuan could tease Jia Xiang again, Yao Ran suddenly pointed to the screen and said, "Look. Is that the mutant rat king?"

Shi Xuan maneuvered the drone to hover over the area Yao Ran had pointed and zoomed in. When the camera focused on the black mass below, Huang Qian exclaimed, "Oh my God! Is that really the mutant rat king? It's so big!"

Zooming closer, Shi Xuan noticed something and said, "It seems the explosives managed to hurt it."
