Chapter 195: | 195 | Final Battle Part 8
In the battlefield residing within the vast plains of Terra's central region. A legion of Arcane Siege Engines surged through the field, unbridled and unstoppable. Each of its Arcanum Cannon laid waste to those before it burning them to crisps regardless whether they were enemies and allies.
These siege engines of the Magus Tower seemed unstoppable, giving hope to the colonial guards who were massacred by the armored line and the attack helicopters of the United Navy. However, their hope quieted down.
After all, above them and in the azure skies, angels descended en masse as though giving divine judgment of the heavens onto the pitiful mortals from below.
*This is UNS Ceaseless Skies, reinforcing the forward battlefront.* A voice escaped from the radios of the MBTs, the IFVs, and the attack helicopters that roamed the skies. Their reinforcements have arrived, and it was in the form of a giant airship known to many as the UNS Ceaseless Skies.
The angels descending from the skies were none other than the Reaper Drones sent to destroy high-priority targets such as the Arcane Siege Engines. Fortunately, these UAVs were equipped with bunker busters, making the siege engines a perfect target.
In the bridge of the UNS Ceaseless Skies, Captain Himmel gazed at the battlefront below riddled with craters and corpses. The armored line and the air force were pushing through with ease, but the emergence of the siege engines halted their advances.
Naturally, he didn't want casualties within the ranks of the United Navy to escalate further. So, without a tinge of hesitation or delay, he ordered the revelation of the airship and the reinforcing of the forward armored line and air force.
"Arcane Siege Engines, huh? Their more like land battleships than siege engines." Himmel muttered under his breath while gazing at the legion of siege engines traversing in the battlefront below.
The destruction of the Arcane Siege Engines was a must. Otherwise, the moment the armored line gets broken though. The ground forces behind would be demolished by the so-called siege engines. As such, their destruction was a primary task for the drone operators.
"Destroy them no matter what! Don't leave a single one behind." His words resounded throughout the bridge followed by the drone operators accepting his orders with a nod. They quickly operated their Reapers and began the bombardment of the siege engines.
"Beginning assault." One of the drone operators uttered as the counterattack of the United Navy began.
In the battlefront below, dozens of Reapers soared through the skies, heading towards the Arcane Siege Engines. As they arrived above their targets, they quickly dropped their bunker busters onto the land battleships of the Magus Tower.
After dropping their payload, they quickly switched their focus in causing as much damage in the rear lines of the army of Terra as much as possible. On the other hand, the bunker busters kept falling from the heavens, further accelerating in every moment.
It didn't take long before the bunker busters made their impact. The runic shields of the Arcane Siege Engines quickly formed a barrier, but it was immediately penetrated by the bunker busters as they strike deeper into their respective siege engines.
The colonial guards that remained in the front line merely gazed at their siege engines, wondering what was about to happen. After all, what the United Navy had sent practically pierced through their runic shield. It must not be underestimated.
And they were right. The effects of the penetration emerged. It was in the form of radiant lights that pierced throughout the battlefield. What followed were thunderous roars that shook both the heavens and the earth. The shockwave throwing those near it in the distance, causing injuries.
*BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!*
The legion of Arcanum Siege Engines exploded into bits, becoming fallen wreckages bursting in crimson flames. It was a fiery sight that brought despair to the colonial guards near it. After all, their hope, the siege engines have been easily defeated by the United Navy.
They practically had no chance against the ground forces of their adversary. Even if there were 50,000 of them, it was no used. No one wanted to become part of the thousands of corpses that would soon become the fertilizer of this ravaged battlefield.
"It's no use! We don't have a chance! We're all about to die!" Such remarks were cried out throughout the bloody battlefield devastated by war. The morale of the colonial guards have reached the lowest of the low. And what follows would push it down even further.
*Advance forward!* In the radio of the MBTs and IFVs, the operators heard the orders from the top to push onward. They didn't hesitate as their engines roared to life. They drove forward while throwing sustain fire towards the colonial guards who had broken their front lines.
*Bam!* *Bam!* *Bam!* *Bam!* *Bam!*
Explosions resounded as another massacre began. The armored line continued to advance forward, uncaring for what was in front of them. Meanwhile, the Reapers kept bombarding the rear lines with missiles, bringing about disorders to chain of command.
The army of Terra was practically in the state of chaos, unable to wield any formidable defense against the advancing armored line of the United Army. The colonial guards were slowly backing away, unconsciously retreating their front lines.
Bradleys' kept firing their chain guns, massacring hundreds of colonial guards in mere seconds. Their bodies laid on the ground, their blood tainted the evergreen color of the grass. It was a hellish sight, even for the operators of both the IFVs and MBTs.
But nevertheless, they must push onward. For the sake of victory and ending the war as fast as possible, they must advance until they reached the capital of the Colonial Dominion.
Back to the UNS Ceaseless Skies, Captain Himmel carefully observed the situation of the battlefront. The destruction of the Arcane Siege Engines broke the spines of the colonial guards, devastating their morale. It shouldn't take long before their army would break apart by itself.
Though, he wasn't merely watching the circumstance of the battlefield. He was also looking at one of the screens which was portraying the battle between the dragoness and three unknown individuals of the Magus Tower. Their clash was surreal, to say the least.
...
*BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!* *BOOM!!!*
Explosion resounded throughout the vast plains as magma surged from the ground one after another. Meteors of all sizes also descended from the heavens, radiantly consuming the entirety of the skies. Luckily, this battle was far from the battlefront between Terra and the United Navy.
Laplace landed with ease and gazed in the distance with a smile plastered on her face. The capabilities of the Apostles weren't to be underestimated. One of them could conjure and manipulate magma with ease while the other could summon meteors from the skies.
Naturally, these attacks weren't able to injure her, but it was natural to be cautious when fighting against Magus. After all, one could never know how things would turn up, especially when these bastards tend to keep a trump card or two around.
Two of the Apostles made their landing, each wielding their grimoires imbued with a unique neon hue. They looked at the dragoness, who was uninjured and knew the implications. They glanced at one another as one of them muttered. "As expected of the Dragon."
"I heard a lot of you from our Master. You were the leader of the Revolting Tide, but disappeared after an unfortunate betrayal." The Magma Apostle quietly remarked, which Laplace clearly heard. "Are you sure the heretical organization isn't simply using you?" The Meteor Apostle questioned.
"Quite ironic for you to trust humans. Perhaps, you have forgotten our excellent abilities in fooling lower intelligent creatures like you." The Magma Apostle continued, though no matter how much words escaped his mouth. The dragoness kept smiling, uncaring of their remarks.
But the edges of her lips soon rose even further as she began lightly chuckling at the two fools in front of her. Her golden eyes gleamed with radiance as she smirked and looked down at them with the arrogance of a dragon.
"You flies keep buzzing around my ears trying to bother me. Is talking the only thing your dog of a master taught you? I guess that should be expected for a Sovereign, right?" Laplace's mockery resounded throughout the silent place. The two Apostles clenched their fist and soon glared at the dragon.
"Mock us all you want. But the Sovereign is beyond your foul mouth!" The Magma Apostle immediately conjured pillars of magma towards the dragoness. But she quickly dodged it with remarkable ease and kept chuckling along the way.
The Meteor Apostle called upon a meteor that would strike the dragon down from its foolish arrogance. But as the meteor made its impact, Laplace merely stood behind them with a bored expression on her face.
"And here I thought you Apostles of Terra Firma would be a bit more challenging. Is this all you got? I guess your master must be weak then." The arrogant words of Laplace echoed in their ears, making them clenched their fist and lose their rationality.
Maintaining their calm was something that didn't matter to them anymore. As long as the dragoness dies, they would gain satisfaction they would never feel in their lifetime. But a question follows their thoughts, how would they kill the dragoness?
Well...
"You have been hiding for quite a while now. Why don't you reveal yourself." Her golden irises glowed in a neon hue as she glanced in the distance where no one and nothing could be seen. Laplace was staring at the third Apostle, who was bidding their time to sneak an attack.
Unfortunately for them, however. Before they dare to trick the senses of a dragon, how about they trick their master first?
