Neurolink System in the Modern World

Chapter 410 Cost of Time

"In the future, you will—" she started speaking, but before she could finish her words, I sensed something dangerous.

"Not good," I exclaimed activating my Advanced Aegis Projection. It enveloped me, granting immunity to any damage for a limited time.

Without hesitation, I extended the protection to Sung Hei and shouted, "Just trust me, or you will die!"

She didn't react at all, frozen in place like she felt the danger too. Her face was pale, showing how serious it was.

A blinding light exploded, swallowing the area in its brilliance.

There was no deafening sound, as the energy that exploded moved faster than sound itself, engulfing everything in chaos.

Luckily, the beam of light didn't persist beyond my immunity time limit, sparing us from the attack.

However, when the attack settled, all that remained was the devastation of the entire stadium. We found ourselves within a crater so deep that it felt as if it had been cleaved by a colossal laser from the sky.

The rocks on the edge were unnaturally smooth, as if they had been melted by the intense heat.

Sung Hei and I stood there in shock, taking in the devastation around us. The once-bustling arena was now reduced to nothingness .

"What just happened?" I asked, my mind reeling from the intensity of the attack. It was powerful enough to kill me multiple times over.

"I... Impossible. This is not supposed to happen so soon," Sung Hei exclaimed, her expression showing her surprise. She seemed to have an inkling of what had occurred or why.

We both floated in the air, getting ready for battle.

"Hey tell me what's happening !" I jolted her from her shock. This was dangerous , my Immunity was gone so another attack like this would be dangerous . I tried searching for the enemy who attack us but there was none.

The multiple ringing sounds caught my attention.

Prior to meeting Sung Hei, I had conducted an experiment using my suggestion ability to test the extent of my control in crowded places like this.

It was merely an experiment, with no bad motive. However, those who died while under my suggestion was included by the system as my kill.

If I had known this was going to happen, I would have used my suggestion on everyone, and leveled up more.

Since I had plenty of skill points, I decided to check my stats. I found out that there were new skills available for purchase.

'It's time for an upgrade,' I muttered to myself urgently, my mind functioning at an incredibly high speed as I began to tweak my status.

I quickly purchased the new skills. Whoever I was up against was really strong, so I wanted to make sure I had every advantage possible.

After combining Weather Manipulation with Essence Manipulation, I got lucky and got very powerful skill: Weather Essence Manipulation.

This new skill was even more useful , granting me the ability to influence the weather. With my proficiency in manipulating various elements, I could create unique weather phenomena.

Without any enemies in sight yet, I combined Advanced Aegis Projection with Energy Reflection, resulting in Advanced Energy Projection. This upgraded skill boasted a much higher level and the ability to absorb energy attacks, redirecting them back as even more powerful counterattacks.

Next, I allocated all my attribute points to Mind Power. There was no point in spending them on anything else.

I also made sure to max out all my other skills.

Everything was done in just three seconds; that's how fast I processed everything with my mind operating at an accelerated rate.

"So, are you going to answer me? Or are you just going to stand there?" I asked Sung Hei, a hint of irritation showing on my tone.

I'm already done with my preparations, but she remained stunned there. I couldn't help but feel that she was wasting her power. It would have been much better if I had her abilities, but she was so stubborn.

"We need to get out of here. We can't win," she said, her voice filled with fear.

"What are..." I got cut off, when I sensed another danger. My mind raced, and I swiftly teleported both Sung Hei and myself away.

As expected, a white light pierced the spot we had just left. The laser moved slower than expected, but it was still very lethal .

We both materialized a few meters away, and I could sense that the situation was becoming more dangerous.

"I can't even see the guy bastard attacking us," I mumbled in annoyance. I attempted everything, using all my senses and even my energy eye, but I still couldn't spot the attacker.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"Hey, how about we do a quicky so you can give me your powers?" I asked her. If I obtained her power to bend reality, then perhaps I could devise a way to confront the invisible enemy directly.

"Are you out of your mind?" She screamed at me.

"Well, I can do it really fast if I wanted to," I chuckled to myself trying to ease her nerves. Sometimes I'm amazed by my own thought process.
