50 PDS – Chapter 50
900 stones reward!!
I can see the girl blanch when she hears her boss' name.
"In that case, call the owner first. If she is your acquaintance there is no need to make things more difficult for her."
"Right away, sir, and thank you. Mrs. Simpson is also one of my clients and I would hate to have to terminate our cooperation."
I hang up and look at the now distressed bitch. She opens her mouth to say something, but I just snort and turn around. I walk back to my girls and join them for a group hug.
"I am so sorry, honey, but don't worry, that bitch will get what she deserves. Just wait for five minutes."
Indeed, note even five minutes later, a woman in her forties enters the shop and starts looking left and right. Upon seeing us, she scoots to my side and asks,
"Are you Mr. Ben?"
I look at her, a furious look still in my eyes.
"I am. Might I assume that you are Mrs. Simpson?"
"Indeed, I am! Thomas told me that one of my employees insulted your daughter. May I ask what happened exactly?"
In a small voice, Hope narrates what happened and what the bitch said to her. Mrs. Simpson's whole face has turned purple from rage.
"Thank you, dear, and I truly apologize for what happened. This is not something that I endorse for my store. Mr. Ben, am I correct in my understanding that you asked to see the manager and was told instead to leave and threatened with the police?"
"You are indeed correct."
"I see. One second, please… Loreen, get your skinny ass here!"
The bitch walks to us, trembling.
"Did you tell this girl that this store was not for poor people like her?"
The bitch shows an expression of indignation on her face.
"Of course not! I would never do something like that!"
Mrs. Simpson's face turns an even darker shade of purple.
"So, are you saying that this gentleman is lying?"
"Yes! He wanted a 50% discount because he didn't have enough money, and when I refused, he called somebody and fed him a sappy story!"
Without thought, my hand arcs in a slap that sends the bitch spinning and crumbling to the ground.
She looks at me from the floor, her palm held against her bruised cheek.
"He… he hit me! That brute just hit me!"
"Enough of this shit, solve it now, or I promise I will give it my all to close this fucking excuse of a shop!"
The furious owner lowers her gaze to look at the bitch on the floor.
"Tell me, Loreen, do you know that the whole shop is covered in cameras?"
"Y-yes, of course, I do!"
"Ah, but did you know that the cameras record conversations as well? Now, we can check the video footage. If indeed things happened as you said, I will call the police and have this man arrested. If, however, you are lying to me…"
The bitch blanches at her boss' words. She obviously did not expect to be proof of her antics.
"That… I…"
"Well, dear?"
"I… I am sorry…"
"No, dear, you are not, but you will be. You see, I already know that from time to time you steal from me, but the amounts were minimal, and I could not find a person to replace you, so I let you be. I did though keep a copy of the relevant videos, and I will turn them to the police… Bad enough that you steal from me, now you also insult my patrons and try to slander them? Hell no!"
As Mrs. Simpson takes out her phone to call the police, the bitch hugs her leg.
"Please, ma'am, don't do this. I am sorry! Please forgive me!"
"I am not the one you should ask forgiveness from, you damn slut!"
The bitch let go of her leg and crawl toward Hope, but I take a step and stand in her way.
"You get near my daughter, and I will strangle you like a chicken!"
The expression on my face must have been very scary, as the bitch drops backward with a yelp. Hope tugs my sleeve, so I turn to her.
"Daddy… it's okay. Let It be…"
"Are you sure, honey? God knows how many times she did something like this…"
"It's ok, daddy. Thank you for standing up for me. Losing her job will be enough punishment…"
I sigh and pat her head.
"You are too good for this world, love…"
I turn to the still furious owner.
"As you heard, Mrs. Simpson, my daughter does not wish to take things to the extremes. I cannot dictate what you do, but I would ask you to respect her wishes and don't involve the police."
Mrs. Simpson huffs, then exhales.
"Very well. You are very lucky, Loreen. Now gather your things and get lost. I will not have you arrested, but be sure that I will inform all the stores of what happened here. You will never work in retail again!" Damn, what a firecracker!
Having said her piece, she turns to me.
"I am truly sorry for what transpired, and at the same time, I am grateful that you allowed me to discover what my employee was doing behind my back. Please, I know that my boutique made a very bad first impression, but give me a chance to show you that this is not what my store is about."
I turn to look at the girls and see them both nod, albeit a bit hesitantly.
"All right. We will consider it as if today's matter has never happened. Now girls, ready to shop?"
