Pokémon Court

Chapter 379: Suppression

It’s impossible for an ordinary Trainer to defeat an Elite Four, even when the opponent sends out a non-main Pokémon.

This seems irrefutable.

But Terrance is no ordinary Trainer.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

If an Elite Four Champion were to capture a Weedle, would that Weedle possess Champion-level strength?

That’s absolutely impossible.

Terrance tossed out a Poké Ball, and the adorable figure of Beautifly appeared before the Trainers, freezing their smiles and transforming them into expressions of shock.

Whether it’s Houndoom or Slowbro, both seem far more reliable than Beautifly, don’t they?

“Does he intend to battle Master Phoebe using Beautifly?”

Beautifly… It’s a Pokémon you can find all over Hoenn. No one could think of a way to train a Beautifly to become exceptionally strong.

“Beautifly… it isn’t Gallade from the Gym?” one of the first challengers to Rogge Gym muttered, staring at the arena with a serious expression.

He is one of the few people present who still has a little faith in Terrance, although it wasn’t much.

“Come on, Beautifly!” Chisana thought excitedly.

At the same time, a few Coordinators were showing puzzled expressions.

That puzzlement gradually turned into surprise, shock, and disbelief.

Terrance…

Terrance from Fallarbor Town.

A familiar name. A familiar Beautifly.

Could it be…

Recalling the recent final of the Hoenn Grand Festival, where one Pokémon had dominantly defeated its opponents and ultimately triumphed over the Top Coordinator from the Sinnoh region, they finally realized—Terrance was this year’s Top Coordinator of Hoenn!

Top Coordinator vs Elite Four!

The Coordinators who recognized Terrance seemed to have something stuck in their throats. They didn’t know how to convey what they wanted to say, and at that moment, they weren’t even sure who would win.

Logic dictated that they should side with Phoebe, but the honor of being a Top Coordinator was also the ultimate goal they all pursued.

The battle begins!

“Strike first—Silver Wind!”

Having learned that Drifloon relies on controlling air currents, Terrance wasted no time turning the arena into Beautifly’s domain.

Whoosh, whoosh—

Powerful silver air currents began to spread everywhere across the arena. The Silver Wind wasn’t being used as an attack but instead hovered around the entire arena.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Beautifly began to dance. Although the Silver Wind moved at a slow pace, it accelerated Beautifly’s Quiver Dance, its elegant movements resembling a dancing fairy. For the first time, Phoebe’s calm expression changed.

In a battle between excellent Trainers, one can easily see the opponent’s skill level in just one round.

Even though she is a member of the Elite Four, at this moment, she was now fully alert and focused. She realized she had underestimated Terrance because of his age.

No wonder he had requested her to switch Pokémon…..This Beautifly, though not trained as meticulously as her Drifloon, had been trained for much longer and possessed a skill that shocked her most—the ability to sense air currents, a key reason she had captured this Drifloon.

Ominous Wind!

Phoebe’s calm demeanor turned serious as she issued the command. Drifloon stirred up a chilling and sinister wind, which intertwined with the Silver Wind. The combination of purple and silver hues plunged the arena into chaos, elevating the intensity of the battle to a whole new level.

“It’s definitely Terrance.”

By now, no Coordinator doubted the authenticity of his identity.

Shadow Ball!

The Trainers watching were taken aback. This was the first time they had seen Master Phoebe take the initiative to attack, seemingly forced to halt Beautifly’s ongoing dance.

“What a terrifying opponent! Even while Ominous Wind and Silver Wind are intertwined, he could still strengthen the latter for a faster Quiver Dance—given his age, what exactly is his background?”

Phoebe couldn’t recall any prodigy Trainer from the recent League Conferences matching Terrance’s level.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

With masterful energy control, several Shadow Balls flew through the air, cutting off Beautifly’s Quiver Dance paths from different angles. Terrance’s previously calm expression changed—Beautifly could dodge, but…

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

During the dance, countless Shadow Balls, instead of blocking Beautifly’s Quiver Dance routes, changed their angles and collided with each other around Beautifly. The enormous energy fluctuation instantly dispersed the Silver Wind. Beautifly forcibly resisted the shockwaves, trying to maintain its Quiver Dance, but the next moment, Drifloon descended on Beautifly.

Thunderbolt!!

A blinding surge of golden electricity erupted, unleashing a wave of immense energy. Like serpents of lightning, the currents shot out in all directions, as if attempting to both attack Beautifly and seal off its routes simultaneously.

“Impressive, as expected of an Elite Four member—you know exactly how to counter a Pokémon adept at controlling air currents,” Terrance said with a smile.

But this level of interference wasn’t enough to stop Beautifly. A massive white web suddenly appeared, spreading across the sky and colliding with the electric currents. To Phoebe and the Trainers’ surprise, the electricity didn’t repel the threads. Instead, the threads absorbed the electric currents, channeling it across their surface and transforming into a golden Electroweb that shot towards Drifloon!

“Conducting electricity? Even the threads have been strengthened?”

As the golden Electroweb enveloped Drifloon, the Trainers seemed to foresee Drifloon being trapped. However, in the next moment, Drifloon’s body suddenly shrank, allowing it to slip through safely—it had used Minimize!

By cleverly employing the move, Drifloon successfully dodged Electroweb.

Barely had Drifloon escaped the web when several Air Cutters followed in rapid succession. The quick pace of the battle left the spectators breathless. They began to look at Terrance with newfound seriousness, suddenly realizing that he wasn’t just making bold claims—he truly could battle on par with an Elite Four!

Silver Wind once again spread across the arena.

This was a clash of air currents against air currents. The two Pokémon engaged in a fierce battle for control over the arena’s air currents.

The one move Phoebe couldn’t afford to let Beautifly fully execute was Quiver Dance.

If Beautifly successfully completed its Quiver Dance, Drifloon would be in real danger.

Still, when it came to controlling the air currents, Beautifly had the edge. It had been trained for a longer time, something Drifloon couldn’t compare to. Additionally, the combination of Quiver Dance and air currents constantly distracted Drifloon, preventing it from properly sensing them.

“The timing isn’t right yet…” Terrance quietly observed the situation.

Every time Quiver Dance was halfway or more through, Phoebe and Drifloon skillfully disrupted it, making Terrance feel frustrated. During the Grand Festival, they had encountered many Coordinators, but none had been able to stop them. Yet here, they were facing frequent setbacks.

“There’s only one chance. If she discovers Beautifly’s hidden trump card, then the chance for Quiver Dance to succeed will be gone for sure…”
