Chapter 154: Missing?
David was caught unaware and there was no way he would have expected that a young girl that was such a genius would still have enough EQ to point out all the loopholes in the offer he had made.
"T..that was the first reward, but you are right, an invitation like that shouldn't be considered a reward. For Participant Yue, the original cash price would be tripled, also, your theorem would be named after you as it was created by you."
After stammering a little, he finally regained his confidence and was able to appease.
"Lastly, Miss Yue would be granted the opportunity to make a request from our country's science and technology department when she wants it," he adds and the room went into an uproar.
Rong Yue nodded and then walked back to her seat.
The original host was given back the microphone.
"We would now announce the positions and results now…"
Everyone had seen it on the scoreboard.
Also, just one country had snatched up the first and second place there was really no suspense and the audience gave no reaction to that announcement.
The positions were, however, still read out and Rong Yue and the top five all stood up as they were called out.
Rong Yue stepped outside with Wu Hao's hands interlocked with hers as soon as that step was done.
"It's good that you wore your hair this way, if you had come with your face exposed, perhaps, you would start to contend for a position beside the world's biggest stars." Wu Hao teased.
Rong Yue nodded with seriousness. She would usually try her best to remain out of sight. Even though heaven already made that an impossible task with her face.
But even with that, she would never find trouble on her own. And if she had somehow known that the question was that troublesome, she would have ignored it from the very beginning.
One couldn't cry over spilled milk, and since she had already answered it, she had to see through it to the end.
Before anyone could reach them, teacher Lu and the two ambassadors circled Rong Yue and pulled out of the crowd and paparazzi.
"Well done! Well done!"
"The both of you have made the country proud in so many ways." The ambassadors echoed each other with their smiles going from ears to ears.
Even the other two participants other than Feng Ya that had holed up in the bus seemed as happy as though they had been the one to win the glory.
"For a moment there, I thought you had answered it by sheer luck and our hardwork would be watered down." Wu Da said as he hugged Rong Yue.
The team of seven were all excited and on a certain cloud of high as they walked to to the bus they had come with.
However, Rong Yue was calm and her eyes roamed through the crowd up until they were in the clear for that familiar outstanding and lone figure.
But no matter how much she searched, Qin Yichen's shadow wasn't even there.
"Boss Yue, you would meet us at the hotel right?" Wu Da asked as they entered the bus, since her family's car was still there, all of them assumed that there were people in the car and she would go back with them.
Although, it did seem a little weird that even after such a win like this, her family hadn't rushed out to congratulate her.
"Mmmm, I would meet you back there." She answered and then waved them bye.
As soon as the bus left, she entered the car using the key that she had collected from teacher Lu earlier and sat inside for a while.
She had known him for more than four months now. And even if her heart had been locked, she wasn't stupid and she knew exactly how Qin Yichen felt this whole time.
He had gone from being sorry that he became a burden to taking an interest in her.
And not for one time has that man being absent.
She had even seen one of her earliest paintings in his house. Even if he wasn't there by himself, he would send someone over so that she would never for one moment forget that she was in his heart.
But right now, he wasn't here.
Instead of being disappointed, she was a little more worried and she started to dial his phone as she slipped into the driver's seat.
She had yet to get her license in this world but she had more than enough knowledge on driving. So without any hitch, she drove the car out from the garage and towards the hotel.
After trying Qin Yichen's line for more than five times and each one disconnected, she pressed the accelerator, going on a faster speed.
If she wanted to find him, as long as he was in this world, no one could stop her.
But her laptop was back in the hotel.
As alternative, she had the system call Lu San and Lu Bo to know if they knew his whereabouts, however, none of them picked her calls.
At this point, she was certain that something had happened, and she needed to know what.
With her speed that was just on the brink of crossing the limit, she soon overtook the bus that the others had gone with and got to the hotel in no time.
She pressed the elevator in a rush, her hands stumbling over some other numbers.
Before she got up to their floor, she dialed her mom, knowing that she might not have the time again.
"Mom, I'll be resting my head for a while, I'm back at the hotel. When I wake up, I'll call you back."
The conversation was brief and she hung up as her words fell.
The elevator stopped in front of the penthouse at the exact same time and she dashed out of it and entered into their house.
Like the cautious person she was, when she entered the house, she calmly searched around with her mind on full alertness and it was only when she confirmed that neither Qin Yichen or anyone else had been here since they left that she entered her room.
"Where are you Qin Yichen?" she mumbled to herself as she opened her laptop, ready to work.
