Pretending To Be God

Chapter 22: Rumors Create Idiots

Chapter 22: Rumors Create Idiots

The academy is divided into two sectors.

The magic sector.

And the non-magic sector.

And these sectors are divided into the student years depending on which semester they have taken.

And each semester, these students are divided into three classes:

Class C is the lowest class in all of the academies and reserved for the least talented and for the laziest. But, even they would far surpass the other classes in the other private academy.

Class-B, it is a class that has a lot of students who have strong potential, and they start receiving more opportunities like diluted strength elixir and others. Their instructors are also much more skilled and better at teaching than the ones in Class C.

Now, Class-A is much more different than the students in B; they get better elixirs and the best instructor that money can buy.

Nearly every graduate from Class-A has gotten into high positions, and the lowest among them end up as high-paying guards for nobles and royalties.

George, having defended from the top ten students among the semester non-magic prospects, barely passed to stay in the academy, and even though he managed to pass in an impressive fashion, it wasn't enough to make it to Class-A or even B, but C.

"I heard that George Sterling will be coming to this class."

"You would think that someone who has done what he did would be accepted in a higher class."

Many who were in Class-C's newest semester couldn't sit without hearing of the name "George Sterling," as the students who peaked into the tent had spread rumors about him.

"Hey, Peyton! What do you think of this guy?" One of the students asked.

Peyton Glass looked annoyed, he had managed to pass the test, but it wasn't in the way that he expected; due to a slight mistake in the test, he placed last, nearly failing. "The guy from the rumor? He's probably nothing special, from what I've heard, the only thing that he did was run away from them. Sure he did it against those great guys, but anyone can run."

Not expecting such a boring answer, they nodded and continued talking about the rumor.

George had just entered the class, but even from stepping one foot inside, he could already hear his name spread around.

But none of them recognized him, even though they uttered his name; most of the people who were spreading the rumor were the senior students, and only the 9 students who he fought against knew what he looked like.

Taking a seat at the only empty chair, he saw a scrawny kid squinting while his face was up close to his books.

George didn't have to get close to see his name on the book.

The kid felt the stare and turned towards George, "Oh, I'm Jame."

"James?"

"No, it's just Jame."

"Okay…" George replied, finding it weird that someone would be named James but without the S.

"I am writing a rumor report for the Rumor Club which I'm gonna request the academy to make the club official."

"Ah…" George replied, not interested in what Jame was saying, but Jame continued.

"I've heard that this new guy… He purposefully avoided fighting them to not show how strong he really is… He ran strategically attacking everyone with great precision they said."

'Huh?' George thought; he couldn't imagine that anyone would phrase what he did like that.

"I've heard that he was using a martial art that no one has ever seen before."

'That's because I didnt use any martial arts.'

"And then after making enemies with everyone one of them. He gathered them together before attacking them, but he only got one. But it seems that he got tired, and to avoid straining himself he gave up, or so they said. I am still finding the truth. We dont know what he could be hiding. Although I hea-" Before Jame could continue talking about his rumors about George to the man himself, the instructor walked in.

Her eye bags looked dark, and it was fairly obvious she wasn't getting the sleep that she needed. "Please take a seat." She said, making it known to every student that she wasn't very happy about being there to teach them.

"I will be taking the attendance, please note that if you do not attend each and every class without notifying us, you will be kicked out. Now let's start with Adelana." She then named every student, and if they were present, they would raise their hands.

Every student in the class was present; just getting into the academy was hard enough, and they weren't going to ruin it by skipping a class.

"George Sterling." She said, waiting for someone to raise their hands.

But many waited just like her wanting to know who this rumor student was.

Jame waited in anticipation, rubbing his hands together, before he saw the instructor looking beside him and taking notes.

As he turned to his side, he saw George putting down the hands that he had raised. "Cool!" Jame whispered to himself before he recorded the incident in his notebook.

The rest of the students stared at him, not impressed with his look.

From what the rumors said about him, they were expecting him to look stronger; some wanted him to look more menacing.

But all they could see was a normal youth who looked weaker than everyone here.

Peyton didn't expect what he said to be true. While everyone was talking about how great George was, he was underestimating him from the lack of evidence that the rumor provided.

He crossed his hands, with a smug on his face, "I guess was right after all… He isnt anything special."

But his smug didn't last as he could still hear some talking things like:

"He is probably trying to hide the fact that he is strong."

"He probably doesnt want any attention."

"He might be the strongest in this class."

Peyton couldn't help but scratch his head, 'How are everyone in this class fools!??'
