Rebirth: Over the Horizon

7th day

10:20 A.M

The journey through the grasslands was rather meddlesome, though there wasn't monsters Or other disturbance.

The weather made the journey practically tough.

Amelia requested adam to continue her journey with him, for sure she isn't going to do anything.

So, Adam agreed to it. Anyway, she is bound to become powerful right?

'There is not much time, I hope if we encounter something where we can earn medals'

After an hour or so the grassland ends and opens into a large rocky area open to the sky above.

After walking some distance the group finds a lake and a cave entrance which was blocked by a huge rock.

"Adam, Can we rest here," Ariana asks.

"Okay, both of you can rest here while I investigate the Cave"

Both of them nodded and started preparing their tent.

He walks in from the cave where Adam spots a peculiar rock where words were carved into it.

Upon Examining the rock face closely, he finally understands the old lines printed in it.

'Place a medal'

'Well, I don't know what is this?'

As he thought, Adam takes a silver medal and places it in the old rock.

It shimmers brightly….

Adam sighs as he walks over to the lake to wash his face.

Adam almost to took water when he spots a disturbance forming on the previously still waters of the lake.

He quickly tries to retreat but it's not enough.

A wave of lake water drenches his body, surging up over the shore as dark blue coloured creature larger than a bus, launches itself out of the loch to land in front of him, blocking off any form of easy escape.

The giant reptile furls her wings tightly against her body as the moonlight glints off midnight dark scales.

A sinuous neck arches down as a fanged maw opens in a snarl.

"Meddling Humanssss!"

A voice roars, as a crimson eye larger than a human hand turns to focus on him.

Adam's face becomes pale as he spots the dragon, 'Huh, Isn't it a High-level bossss!!?'

The dragon roar's again.

Adam freezes and his mind goes blank.

[You have been affected by dragon's roar]

[You can't use magic for some time]

"Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup."

Backing away from the beast, he stumbles over a rock and falls hard to the ground spraining his ankle.

"No running away for you now."

With a terrifying grin, the black dragon advances slowly towards adam, tail lashing the ground.

At least the sharp pain in his leg has shocked adam back to his senses.

'With no magic at my disposal and no way to run, I have talked my way out of this one.'

Adam props himself up into a sitting position and pastes a wide smile onto his face.

"My!" he exclaims. "I was told how magnificent you were, but the stories don't do you justice!"

"I mean, just look at the way your ebony scales glimmer in the moonlight And such beautiful, graceful wings. I've never seen a dragon more impressive."

The dragon cocks her head slightly at his words and pauses in her advance.

She seems to at least be listening to Adam for the moment. It seems to encourage him to continue.

"And your size, a bigger, more mighty dragon I've never seen. I bet you have a huge hoard full of gold and gems beyond compare."

'Oh, Crap! I said something I shouldn't have!'

The dragon's eyes narrow suspiciously, bringing up her treasure, may not be the way to go.

"You humansss! Alwaysss trying to steal my treasssure! You can't fool me mage!"

"Ah! Great Dragon, I mean no offence, I am just envious of you, How do I have the courage to steal your treasure"

'Yeah, if I want it, I have to kill you first' he thought in his heart.

The serpent gives a low growl that causes the ground to vibrate. She doesn't believe him.

As she was thinking whether to fry him or boil him.

A new window pops up before him.

'Ah but just looking from it I can say it is worth Millions of Gold'

'But, it's nothing compared to a favour from the dragon…I think so?'

He quickly opened the inventory and took out the rainbow coloured Shining gem and showed it to the dragon.

"Here, it's for you"

The dragon surprised by his actions takes a closer look at the gem.

The next instant, It disappears with light and transforms into the human form.

A beautiful 6.5 mature woman with two long horns extending from her head and a huge breast which is barely covered by some dress.

Nessie leaned over and took the gem muttered under her breath.

"Th... This.."

Tears rolled down her cheek but, the next instant it disappeared in the air.

"Humman, I don't know where do you get this."

"But, If you hand it over to me you can ask a favour from me"

Her voice was still haughty as ever, at least now, she didn't consider him as food.

"Okay, I will gladly hand it over to you"

"Thanks, human"

"So, What favour do you want?"

"Well, You have to become guardian beast for my Territory"

"Whaatt!!?"

"Yes, it's exactly what you heard"

"Sigh…Well at least make sure that your territory had mild climates, I don't like the sun"

As Nessie said she gave a token to Adam "When you crush this token I will appear before you human!?"

She went inside the lake turning into a dragon and submerged into the lake.

Both of his companions were stunned silent by his actions.

There were only a few hours left for the deadline of the event, so he didn't bother to move forward.
