Chapter 578: I, Princess, Did Not Cheat!
Chapter 578: I, Princess, Did Not Cheat!
In Dorado, United States, Mira learned of the stats for the [Dragon Abyss Sword: Dragonsorch] almost immediately. "She's cheating. She has to be cheating!" she shouted hysterically.
Both her sword and the Black-hearted Princess' sword were Epic-grade, yet the stats were worlds apart. She even wondered if the Princess had somehow disguised Unique Equipment as Epic to deceive others.
"A normal attack with over a thousand damage! What kind of nonsense is that?" Mira crumpled the report in her hand and hurled it across the room.
"We're both Closed Beta players, so how are you so far ahead? What's your connection to that mysterious game company? How many under-the-table deals have you made with them?" Mira fumed, her frustration boiling over.
Mira grabbed at her hair and kicked the chair in front of her with her slender legs, roaring like an enraged lioness.
She had thought she could catch up with a significant cash injection. But the Black-hearted Princess had somehow pulled even further ahead in the blink of an eye.
"Huff… Huff… She's cheating. She has to be cheating!" Mira gasped, her piercing gaze seeming to penetrate the walls as she stared angrily towards the distant east.
Mira was consumed by frustration. She had convinced herself that the Black-hearted Princess was cheating, despite having no evidence. It was clear she had lost her composure.
In fact, Mira wasn’t entirely wrong. Yaeger was indeed cheating—she knew the future. Having been reborn, it would be unthinkable for Yaeger not to use her knowledge to her advantage.By now, many powerful factions had taken notice of Yaeger. They could sense that this [Princess], who had seemingly come out of nowhere, harbored a shocking secret. At the very least, they suspected she was closely connected to the game company.
How else could she advance so quickly? How else could she acquire so many rare items?
"Insider!" The word instantly sprang to mind.
The casual excuse Yaeger had once used to placate Rakshasa was now becoming her actual identity.
"She’s a Closed Beta player like me, yet she clearly knows more about the game," Mira muttered, slowly calming down as her mind began to race. "Looking back at everything she did in the Novice Village, it’s definitely suspicious," Mira thought, piecing things together.
When she compared Princess’ performance against other players from Novice Village 101, she noticed many irregularities.
"From looting all the equipment to grinding every monster in the Novice Village to level ten—no ordinary player could pull that off."
Mira had certainly intended to claim all the benefits for herself during the 24-hour Closed Beta. But she had wasted so much time on the missions alone that she only managed to secure a few advantages.
"She didn’t just loot all the available equipment and items—she even ground every animal and Magic Beast in the region up to level ten. There’s no way she didn’t plan this in advance! And that final mission with the Wind Wolf—she used all the players in the region as cannon fodder and claimed everything for herself. That was way too deliberate!"
Mira either intentionally or subconsciously ignored Rakshasa's presence, perhaps because their growth had been so different. In her mind, she and Rakshasa were the true Closed Beta players.
Meanwhile, the Black-hearted Princess was nothing more than a cheater!
In Yanjing, at the Dragon residence, "Why is it her again?" Jun, the young master of the Dragon family, exclaimed in irritation as he read the information in his hand.
He had skipped the trip to Roc City, sending his subordinates to capture Yaeger in his place, only to be deeply humiliated when they failed.
He had planned to apprehend the woman himself, but his father had ordered him to focus on the game instead, leaving him with no time.
At first, he didn't mind staying away from the game, but once he started playing, he realized just how powerful this so-called [Princess] really was!
"After gathering all this information about her over the past few days, I feel like throwing up!" Jun slammed the table, his effeminate face twisted with anger.
"What’s going on with this family? This woman is practically stepping on our heads, and they’re doing nothing about it!"
Not long ago, his cousin Genovese had been carried home in the middle of the night, throwing the entire family into an uproar. He had expected the enraged patriarch to spare no expense in eliminating that woman.
However… So much time had passed, and still, the family had done nothing. This left Jun deeply frustrated. The suffocating frustration was so intense, it felt like his lungs were being crushed.
"What now?" he muttered, shaking his head. No matter how stifled he felt, he was powerless if the family refused to act. He turned his attention back to the information in his hand.
A moment later, his eyes widened in shock. "What the hell? What’s with these insane stats on this sword?"
Then it hit him—the sword belonged to [Princess].
"Heh, perfect. You’ve got all the good stuff. Once I catch you, it’ll all be mine!"
In the Linhnan server, Jade City, Adventurers' Guild. The once lively atmosphere had vanished, replaced by a heavy silence. Everyone stood in a daze, as if the previous energy had been nothing but an illusion.
Taurus, like everyone else, was reading the latest information. His expression was one of shock—his mouth wide enough to fit a clay pot, and his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.
Just moments ago, he had been on top of the world, feeling as though everything was under his control. But now, he had been brought back down to earth, his confidence shattered.
After painstakingly winning the bid on the Epic Sword and soaking in all the attention, that glory had been snatched away by the Black-hearted Princess. It was utterly infuriating. And yet, alongside the frustration, he was consumed with envy.
After reading the sword's stats, Taurus felt an overwhelming urge to mobilize his men immediately, to seize the Black-hearted Princess’ sword and everything she possessed.
Beside him, S.K.Y. stood in a daze, stunned by the stats of the [Dragon Abyss Sword: Dragonsorch]. ‘This damned woman! I despise her!’ As the Black-hearted Princess grew stronger by the moment, S.K.Y.’s hatred for her deepened with every fiber of his being.
‘I will take everything from you, even your life!’ As he thought this, the redness in his eyes seemed to intensify.
The Adventurers' Guild erupted in chatter once more, as everyone eagerly discussed the Black-hearted Princess and her sword. Even though Taurus and S.K.Y. were at the center of the crowd, it was as if they had become invisible.
At the roundtable, Taurus clenched his fists, his body trembling slightly. At first, S.K.Y. assumed it was from rage and embarrassment. But upon closer inspection, he noticed that Taurus was actually smiling.
"Good, very good, Black-hearted Princess. The more treasures you have, the happier I am. Because soon enough, everything you own will be mine!"
Meanwhile, Yaeger was unaware that her newly strengthened [Dragon Abyss Sword: Dragonsorch] had already sent shockwaves throughout the world. She looked at Behn, who was slumped on the ground, and chuckled. "Oh, Behn, you did a great job. I’m very pleased."
Hearing this, Behn felt a warmth spread through his heart. He thought she would continue to praise him. But unfortunately…
"Two of my friends also need their weapons strengthened. I’ll thank you in advance for that." What she said next was nothing short of a nightmare for him.
