Reborn with Steve Stand

Chapter 764: Fang Mo probably becoming the God of Hybrids

After waking up from the dream.

Fang Mo stayed in the Minecraft world for a while longer.

Partly, this was to ensure his little partner upheld her promises, and partly to control Steve to mine more resources, as the storage back home was nearly empty.

Normally, after returning from a dungeon, Fang Mo would take some time to explore and study new mods.

Unfortunately, during his trip to the Arad dungeon, he hardly unlocked any new mods, only managing to unlock the Tumbleweed mod at the very end—which was more like a consolation prize with little to investigate.

So, Fang Mo could only work with the mods he already had.

From the start until now, he had acquired a significant number of mods—nearly a hundred. Even in his previous life, a server with that many would be considered a large mod pack.

However, about half of these mods were tech-related.

Things like Industrial Age, Thermal Expansion, Extra Utilities, NuclearCraft, Forestry, GregTech, Stargate, Level Storage, More Power Facilities, Tech Reborn, Immersive Engineering, Energy Control, Astral Sorcery, Flux Networks, Gravitational Armor, Advanced Solar Panels, DartCraft, Mechanism Overhaul, Large Tanks, Advanced Generators, Bee Expansion, Fart Power, Railcraft, Crude Oil, Reactor Turbines, and Force Fields…

Fang Mo had no interest in touching these.

Partly because they didn't interest him, and partly because he couldn't remember the crafting recipes.

In addition to tech mods, he also wasn't interested in some smaller or decorative mods like Furniture, Light Bridges, Bamboo Sakura, or More Biomes.

His forte was likely Tinkers' Construct, and beyond that, the Twilight Forest mod.

Tinkers' Construct had an incredibly high ceiling.

Every time Fang Mo returned to the main world, he would come up with strange new weapons or tools based on his creative ideas and take them to test in new worlds.

This time was no exception.

"Hmm..."

Fang Mo stared at the saplings in Steve's hand, lost in thought.

During his previous dungeon adventure, Fang Mo realized the limitations of the Time Sword.

The Time Sword was essentially just a large Ender sword from Tinkers' Construct. Its abilities came entirely from a tree embedded within it—specifically, one of the four divine saplings from the Twilight Forest mod: the Time Tree.

However, Fang Mo had a bunch of other saplings.

From the Twilight Forest alone, he still had the Sorting Tree, Ore Tree, and Transformation Tree.

On top of that, he had a mana-producing flower from the Botania mod, known as the Endoflame, which generates mana by consuming food.

But none of these compared to Fang Mo's ultimate weapon—a sapling of the Sacred Rubber Tree from MineFactory Reloaded 2 (MFR2). This thing was terrifyingly huge, capable of crashing servers—like a literal World Tree in scale.

So, what would happen if he combined all these things together?

That's right.

Fang Mo was planning something big.

Back in the Marvel universe, Fang Mo had discovered a trait in the Forestry mod: hybridization.

This was a feature where plants could cross-pollinate and hybridize to create new species, with Steve using a grafter to obtain the seeds of these new hybrids.

He had even experimented with Groot, which turned out quite successfully, resulting in a bizarre creation he called the Thorn King.

Fang Mo still had some seeds from that experiment. Well, "seeds" was just a way of saying it—he had actually snapped off some of the thorns from the creature's body. Thinking back, Fang Mo had to admit his foresight. No matter the situation, he always remembered to save seeds…

Since operating within the Minecraft world was inconvenient, Fang Mo activated his dimension control and headed to his own pocket dimension.

Upon arriving in the White Lands, Fang Mo retrieved one of the thorns from his storage.

Thanks to the strange flow of time within his storage space, the thorn was still fresh, with its cut surface slightly moist and a hint of green visible.

Fang Mo held the thorn in his hand. In the next moment, his Arcane Ring emitted a faint green glow as he activated the "Goddess of Nature's Harvest" mode. Instantly, the thorn began to wriggle and grow. Fresh buds appeared at the cut surface, soon transforming into a mass of tangled vines that twisted and coiled, gradually taking on a vague humanoid shape.

This was the terrifying trait of Groot's tree species.

Even a half-broken branch could regrow into a complete entity.

The only downside was that the new individual wouldn't retain any memories, much like how Groot in *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1* was a different character from Baby Groot in *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2*.

But this didn't concern Fang Mo.

All he needed was a medium for hybridization, not a sentient being.

With a slight thought, the humanoid mass of thorns halted its growth, maintaining its vague, twisted shape. Then… it bloomed.

Small red flowers sprouted all over the figure.

They were the same deep red as the Thorn Roses found in the Twilight Forest, though much smaller.

Without hesitation, Fang Mo drew the Time Sword and stabbed it into the ground. In an instant, a towering tree sprang forth, distorting the temporal field around it.

"Looks like I'm about to become some kind of ancient Greek god of hybrids…"

Fang Mo sighed, but quickly refocused and activated his Arcane Ring.

A vibrant green glow enveloped the nearby giant tree. The tree shook, and buds appeared on some of the branches, which then bloomed into clusters of delicate white flowers.

In the Twilight Forest mod, the Time Tree wasn't supposed to bloom.

But this wasn't a game—it was a real alternate dimension. The Time Tree had been brought into reality by Fang Mo, so under the persuasion of the Arcane Ring, it finally decided to bloom.

Seeing the Time Tree bloom, Fang Mo plucked a small cluster of white flowers and forcefully grafted them onto the red flowers atop the humanoid thorn figure.

Soon, the hybridization feature from the Forestry mod kicked in, and the red flowers withered, replaced by a swelling red fruit. As Fang Mo channeled more natural energy into it, the fruit ripened and fell, leaving behind a brown seed.

Fang Mo raised his hand, and the seed floated into his palm.

This was the offspring of the Thorn King and the Time Tree, theoretically combining elements of Groot, Twilight Thorn Roses, and the Time Tree.

Fang Mo examined the seed, his eyes glowing white. In this reality, within his own dimension, nothing could deceive his gaze. Using his dimensional authority, Fang Mo quickly analyzed all the power contained within the tiny seed.

"Hmm… not bad."

Satisfied with the energy within the seed, Fang Mo nodded approvingly.

It seemed his experiment was working.

At least so far, things were progressing smoothly.

Encouraged by his success, Fang Mo wasted no time. He had Steve plant the other three divine saplings from the Twilight Forest.

With a surge of green light from the Arcane Ring, the three divine trees began to grow at a rapid pace.

The first to mature was the Ore Tree, a slender tree with silver-gray bark. Its crown wasn't large, and its leaves had a sickly yellow hue, with branches drooping down like the arms of a pickaxe.

However, while the crown was unimpressive, its root system was vast, twisting and writhing beneath the earth like a mass of giant serpents, burrowing deep into the ground.

Fang Mo could feel it.

Though the crown of the tree was only a few meters tall, its roots had already penetrated tens of meters underground, forming a dense, unyielding network. These roots were absorbing and breaking down the earth's minerals, sending the nutrients back to the surface.

As this process continued, the Ore Tree's leaves began to shift, turning a lustrous golden hue with a metallic sheen.

"Well, isn't that something," Fang Mo muttered, half-jokingly. "Is this some kind of Night Elf gold mine?"

Meanwhile, the Sorting Tree and Transformation Tree had also finished growing.

The Sorting Tree was short and squat, almost resembling a bush rather than a proper tree. However, it seemed to possess some kind of strange magic. Fang Mo could sense that space around the tree was subtly warping.

As Fang Mo watched, the space nearby blurred for a moment, and the ground seemed to flatten. At the same time, some debris scattered on the ground vanished, reappearing in a distant pit.

"Hmm?"

Fang Mo paused, confused.

The area he had chosen was technically a hilly region with uneven terrain. The grass on the ground had been grazed away in patches by some unknown creature, leaving bare spots here and there.

But after the Sorting Tree had matured, the terrain quickly leveled itself, the grass regrew, and all the scattered debris was neatly piled into a small pit, almost like a tiny burial mound.

"Hmm…"

Fang Mo pondered this.

A moment later, he threw a stick onto the ground as a test.

In an instant, space around the Sorting Tree rippled again. The stick vanished and reappeared atop the burial mound.

"Tch…"

Fang Mo winced. "Is this Sorting Tree some kind of clean freak with OCD?"

"…"

The Sorting Tree, being a tree, didn't respond.

After thinking for a moment, Fang Mo had Steve dig up a grass block and replace it with a cobblestone block.

As soon as the cobblestone was placed, the space around the tree rippled again, and the Sorting Tree prepared to act.

But this time, Fang Mo narrowed his eyes and

used his dimensional authority to lock the space around them. Instantly, all spatial manipulations were nullified.

The Sorting Tree, unable to remove the cobblestone, tried again.

But once more, its efforts were thwarted by Fang Mo's dimensional authority.

After several failed attempts, the tree even started to shed leaves in frustration.

Finally, Fang Mo released his spatial lock, restoring the flow of space.

The moment he did, the cobblestone vanished with a *pop*, reappearing on the burial mound. Meanwhile, the pit was instantly refilled with grass.

"Okay…"

Fang Mo facepalmed. Even in the multiverse, this was the first time he had encountered a plant with OCD. It was just ridiculous.

Shaking his head, Fang Mo turned to the Transformation Tree.

This tree was surprisingly tall compared to the Sorting Tree.

Its leaves were a mysterious blue-green, with strange luminescent veins running through them. If you stood beneath its canopy, the light filtering through the leaves would create translucent runes that seemed almost dreamlike.

As time passed, Fang Mo noticed that the natural energy in the area seemed to grow more concentrated.

It was as though the tree was drawing in some kind of energy—whether it was spiritual energy or elemental magic was up for debate. But it was clear that it could influence the environment around it.

Fang Mo thought back to its characteristics in the game.

If he remembered correctly, the Transformation Tree could alter the surrounding biomes, turning them into enchanted forests. It seemed that this trait had carried over into reality, allowing the tree to modify the environment in some way.

"Not bad…"

After a brief observation, Fang Mo nodded in satisfaction.

Without further delay, he activated the power of the Arcane Ring once more, forcing the three Twilight Forest trees to bloom. He then carried out another round of crossbreeding.

Soon, he held a seed that shimmered with a strange light in his hand.

With this, all the plants from the Twilight Forest had been hybridized.

Now, Fang Mo turned his attention to another sapling in Steve's hand—the Sacred Rubber Tree sapling from the MineFactory Reloaded mod.

This was the game-breaking tree, known to crash entire servers.

With a thought, Fang Mo had Steve plant the sapling in the ground.

Then, he released a burst of life energy.

But in the very next second, something unexpected happened. The ground began to quake violently. The small sapling before him suddenly shot up at an alarming rate. Before Fang Mo could even process what was happening, everything went dark.

Glancing at his minimap, Fang Mo froze in shock.

"WHAT THE F—?!"
