Chapter 147 Black Christmas (VI)
"Arrrggghhh!"
The white-masked woman screamed in pain as her hand twisted suddenly. Meanwhile, Joanna narrowly escaped death, falling to the floor and coughing as she tried to catch her breath.
Enraged, the woman in the white-masked woman turned around only to find Olivia standing with one hand half-twisted. It turned out Olivia had used [Psychokinesis] to save Joanna.
"You think you're the only one who can do that, huh?" Joanna taunted, grinning.
"You…" The white-masked woman growled, her voice expressing her current anger.
The white-masked woman punched the air, and in an instant, Olivia was thrown backward, crashing into a pillar before collapsing. Groaning in pain, she tried to stand as the white-masked woman drew close to her.
At the same time, Olivia's eyes widened as she saw the woman in the white mask instantly heal her injury. Her twisted hand straightened without anyone touching it, as if it had a mind of its own.
"Impossible," mumbled Olivia. She had thought her opponent had similar powers, but now she was certain of their gap.
Olivia raised her remaining hand and clenched the air, attempting to attack the woman with [Psychokinesis]. However, nothing happened. The white-masked woman continued to approach her.
"What's happening? My powers?" Olivia murmured. Her face contorted in confusion. Just moments ago, she could effortlessly bend her opponent's hand, but now her powers seemed ineffective against her.
As the white-masked woman stood in front of Olivia, she touched Olivia's chin while chuckling.
"What's with that face? The first time you feel your powers not working as you wish, huh? You're still green." The white-masked woman clicked her tongue.
Olivia couldn't help but grit her teeth. She felt like a joke now. She wanted to attack her, but she knew the woman could snap her neck without even moving.
Suddenly, a girl's scream echoed in the room. Joanna ran over them with a wooden stick in her hand.
"Don't you dare touch my friend!" she yelled!
The white-masked woman sighed. "Such a foolish girl."
"Kyaaa!"
Joanna was suddenly lifted into the air, her body suspended vertically. At the same time, Olivia tried to seize the opportunity as her opponent was distracted. She grabbed a shard of glass lying on the floor and stabbed the white-masked woman from behind.
Splat!
The shard pierced the flesh. Blood splattered, and Olivia smiled with a sense of victory. However, it didn't last long.
"What?" She gasped, wide-eyed.
"Why? Surprised that you stabbed yourself, huh?" the white-masked woman said.
The shard of glass had not hit the opponent; instead, Olivia had stabbed her own abdomen. Her hand acted against her will. Before she could comprehend the situation, her body was lifted from the floor. Like Joanna, she hovered upside down as if her body was suspended in mid-air.
"Aarrgghh! Let me go!"
While Joanna screamed and struggled, Olivia endured the pain. Her face turned pale as blood flowed from the wound.
"You two are really a pain in the ass. You should be lying on the floor, pretending to be dead or something. But instead, you attack me. How foolish. Look at your friends."
Three men lay on the floor with twisted limbs. Akio and Luis groaned in pain, their faces pale and sweaty, while Justin remained unconscious due to the immense pain. None of the Awakeners stood a chance against the white-masked woman's power. Even Luis Hernandez, a highly experienced first-generation Awakener, was like an ant before her.
"Because you dared to interfere, I'll give you all a punishment," she said. Her eyes rolled to Olivia. "First, it starts with you."
Olivia swallowed her saliva nervously.
Creak! Creak! Creak!
"Arrrrrrrggghh!"
Olivia screamed hysterically from the excruciating pain. The white-masked woman twisted every bone in Olivia's legs, starting from her toes to her thighs. One by one, her bones dislocated. She couldn't help but cry uncontrollably.
"Stop! Please stop! I beg you!" Joanna cried, pleading for the woman to stop torturing Olivia. Her heart shattered as she witnessed Olivia suffer.
The white-masked woman laughed wickedly, relishing in her actions. "This is the consequence when you dare to touch me. Don't worry, I won't kill you."
Only the screams drowned in wicked laughter could be heard. Olivia cried in pain, while Joanna cried in despair.
"Olivia!!!" Akio screamed, seeing his friend being tortured mercilessly. He crawled, attempting to reach them despite his limbs being twisted beyond recognition.
Darkness painted the ballroom with the cruelty of the white-masked woman. She enjoyed every second of it. But hope was not completely gone.
In that heart-wrenching moment, a flash of yellow lightning struck the white-masked woman out of the blue.
Bam!
"Aarrgghh!"
She was flung across the room and crashed into the wall, causing brown dust to fill the air as the debris buried her.
In the midst of the room, a man in a neat tuxedo caught Olivia and Joanna. Light enveloped his body like surging whips. He had black hair and blue eyes as bright as the sky.
After securing them both, he took Akio and Luis, carrying them to the other side of the room.
"Sorry, I'm late. Are you okay, Joanna?" The man asked gently.
"Edward!" Joanna cried, hugging him and burying her face in his chest.
Stroking her head, Edward tried to comfort her. "It's okay. I'm here now. Everything will be alright."
Meanwhile, Olivia lost consciousness. She had gone into shock from the unbearable pain of her twisted bones.
On the other side, the white-masked woman rose from the ruins. Her body contorted, showing the extent of the damage from the previous strike. It was truly something beyond her abilities. However, the injury didn't last long. Her body gradually returned to normal.
"Joanna, take your friends with you and hide. Let me take care of her."
The girl nodded.
After smiling at her, Edward walked to the center of the room, prepared to face the mysterious white-masked woman.
"Who are you? Are you Klaus Lee?" she asked.
Edward raised an eyebrow. "That should be my question. Who are you really? And why are you targeting my cousin?"
The white-masked woman only smiled coldly from behind her mask. "That's none of your concern."
Edward narrowed his eyes. "Well, it's none of my concern if I'm going to crush you to pieces."
The white-masked woman chuckled. "As if you can do that."
"I can."
The light surrounding Edward intensified. The darkness in the room almost vanished due to his presence.
Swoosh!
Without warning, Edward shot forward in the blink of an eye, landing a punch of light on her. His attack was too fast, even bordering on the speed of light, and the woman in the white mask had no time to react. As a result, her body was pushed several meters backward.
"Let's begin the battle," Edward said.
