Second Grandma Lai woke up as soon as she heard the quarrel between the two young miss of the first house. She pushed herself with shaky hands and struggled to get up from the bed but as soon as she pushed herself, Second Grandma Lai felt her hand lose all strength and then she fell back on the bed.

When Lai Qianning heard the words of her mother, she could not help but frown. She knew that the county magistrate could not be touched at will but given her mother's temper, she knew that there was no point in saying anything more to her.

In the middle of the night, Second Grandma Lai sipped on her medicinal soup and then waited for her daughter to feed her some honey before continuing to drink the soup.
