Chapter 107 - -21<Dry Wind City-1>
Indiana Jones is one the most famous and iconic characters of his time. With a whip, gun, and guts to fight anyone, archaeologist Dr. Indiana Jones has gone on many adventures. Books and movies based on this character have a source of entertainment for many people. And one of the adventures of this character includes his trip to El Dorado, aka the lost city of gold.
Depicted in the movie, it was portrayed that El Dorado aka Akator aka the lost city of gold is some sort of place made for the alien overlord that used to rule over humanity. They taught humanity farming, engineering, and all the other things.
But that is in fact all bullsh*t. That was made so that the normal audience could be entertained. But the real El Dorado is something else…
The origins of El Dorado lie deep in South America. And like all enduring legends, the tale of El Dorado contains some scraps of truth. When Spanish explorers reached South America in the early 16th century, they heard stories about a tribe of natives high in the Andes mountains in what is now Colombia. When a new chieftain rose to power, his rule began with a ceremony at Lake Guatavita. Accounts of the ceremony vary, but they consistently say the new ruler was covered with gold dust, and that gold and precious jewels were thrown into the lake to appease a god that lived underwater.
The Spaniards started calling this golden chief El Dorado, "the gilded one." The ceremony of the gilded man supposedly ended in the late 15th century when El Dorado and his subjects were conquered by another tribe. But the Spaniards and other Europeans had found so much gold among the natives along the continent's northern coast that they believed there had to be a place of great wealth somewhere in the interior.
Thus the legend of all the lost city of gold started…
…
{So you are trying is say to me El Dorado means "The gilded one" and it is the name given to the chieftain of some tribe… And he was named this way as he was sprinkled on with some gold dust?} Loki said.
'Yes. That is exactly is what El Dorado means back on earth.' Arvin said. He was now back in the house and was eating dinner.
{That doesn't sound so…}
'Cool?' Arvin competed Loki's sentence.
{Yes. That sounds very cool.} Loki said.
'Well, that is how the legend is… And that is the truth. You know it is not something new. These types of mistakes happened all during the reign of humanity… The fine example of this is Chor Market of India.' Arvin said.
{Chor Market?} Loki asked.
'Yes… Chor means thief in Hindi. So essentially you could say that there is a market in India called the thief's market. From its name, one would presume that this is a place where thief's gather and sell their loot. But it is a normal flea market.' Arvin said.
{Then why the hell is it called thief's market?] Loki asked.
'In colonial India, when the British came to India, they went to that market. And you know how the flea market is. They are very noisy. Far noisier than any market in England. So they started calling that market Shor market. It means a noisy market in Hindi. But due to a very poor accent, the word shor started sounding like chor. That is why today there is a Chor Market in India.' Arvin said.
{It is fascinating to see how stupids humans are.} Loki said.
'That's true.' Arvin said.
{So let's come back to the topic. What do you think the El Dorado of Yggdrasil is like?} Loki asked.
'Well, I can't say much. But as the El Dorado was the title that was given to the chieftain, I think the El Dorado would do something to alpha's of the fennec foxes.' Arvin said.
{Fair observation. That could explain why the black fox is after that stone.} Loki said.
'Yes. And from the legend about the gold in the lake, I think that there would be a lake or oasis involved in this.' Arvin said.
{Fair point.} Loki said.
'But I still need a lot of information before I could say anything for certain.' Arvin said.
{Still, we have a clue… El Dorado would be a place with an oasis.} Loki said.
'Not true. Some legends of El Dorado suggested that it was an underground city. So we could not say for certain where the El Dorado is.' Arvin said.
{Hmm… What about that stone? That black fox said that the stone is the key to the sacred temple. So maybe the stone has some clues in it.} Loki said.
'Hmm… That is plausible. Let me check it…' Arvin said as he took the stone from his inventory.
Under the candlelight, Arvin started inspecting the jewel with concentration. There was a very slim chance that the stone would be able to give him any clue. But he was wrong. And he was glad to Loki that he had this idea.
The jewel of spherical shape while it had 12 hexagonal faces carved on it. Arvin didn't pay much attention to the jewel. He thought that this was just a piece of jewelry. But if one might take a closer look at it, they would find that one of the stones would have some carving on it.
Arvin inspected the stone with more detail. And it was then he found that this red jewel seemed to have a very thin and perfect covering on it. The covering was made in such a way that no one would be able to identify it if not seen closely. The carving was made on the original jewel. To make the carving on the jewel invisible the covering was made.
In the original jewel, one would easily be able to see the carving. But with the red color covering one the top of the original jewel, the carving is almost impossible to spot with the naked eyes while covering also does gives the jewel a certain eye-catching color.
Arvin didn't know what is this substance was coated on the jewel. Nor did he had any idea how the hell was he suppose to remove it. But that was his secondary concern for now. First, he needed to know more about the sacred temple that the black fox was talking about. Because this temple is anything like the real legend then he was not interested in covering himself with gold dust. He was not a clown.
Arvin then decided that it would be better for him if he moves away from this city. As for now, this city has already have given him everything that he could need. Now he needs to find a place where he could get all the historical records of the fennec foxes.
He needed more information about the El Dorado of these fennec foxes. Arvin did read a book about fennec foxes but that didn't give any information about the El Dorado or anything like that…
So he needs to find a place where he could get all of this information. And he already had a place in mind. The black fennec fox mentioned something about the sacred council. So Arvin just needed to find them. Then either he could manipulate them in giving information or they might have a book or two that he could read about El Dorado.
As this city was already in very bad shape Arvin thought that it would be better to leave now….
....
As Arvin got the information about the location of this city, it was fairly easier for him to decide which direction he had to head to. Arvin was very surprised to see that he traveled a very long distance from the obelisk to here. And yet he had only covered about 1/8th of the total area of the map.
Thus the next morning early in the morning, Arvin flew away towards the nearest human establishment. According to the map that city was called dry wind city. He didn't like the name very much but it was the only human establishment that was closer to Nekota city. So Arvin didn't mind the travel.
It took him about 2 and a half-day to finally arrive at the city. As Arvin arrived at night he didn't bother to look very closely at the city. He just flew in the city and he checked in the first inn that he could find. Arvin transformed back to his human form and used illusion casting to cast clothes on himself. And then he checked in as he was very tired from the journey….
{Arvin could you tell one truth.} Loki asked.
'Yes. What do you wanna know' Arvin said.
{I bet it started off as a silly thought. But now you kinda like walking around naked with your hollow clothes.} Loki said.
'…' Arvin didn't say anything. But inwardly he knew that he may have started liking this a little bit....
