Chapter 33: “Forbidden Forest”
Chapter 33: “Forbidden Forest”
However, now is not the time to chat. Hagrid got up from the ground, rubbed his shoulders, and said, “Let’s get out of here first.”
Fortunately, the animals in the Forbidden Forest only cared about killing and didn’t notice the running group of people.
On the lake, there was continuous surging of water, and Sean saw the Kelpie showing up from time to time. It was helping Sean drive out other aquatic animals that were trying to get close to the shore.
Sean looked at the castle. He and Dumbledore only met yesterday, but now that something so serious has happened.
He turned his attention to the animals again. They were obviously weird. Just like the dragon and the Kelpie before, their pupils were all changed, and most of their emotions had also changed.
Sean frowned at what was happening in the Forbidden Forest and ran quickly. The dragon beside him was in a good mood, rubbing his big head against Sean’s body from time to time.
“Hagrid, what about this guy?” The group came to the circular stone pile, which was the fork leading to the Forbidden Forest and the castle.
Hagrid glanced at the dragon, “You guys go to the castle, and I will take it to Professor Kettleburn.”
A strong white light suddenly lit up behind them when they were talking.
The group suddenly looked back and saw that it was the location of the Forbidden Forest. The dazzling white light spread from the center of the Forbidden Forest until it enveloped the entire forest.
The roar of animals that can be heard gradually faded, and Hagrid showed an excited look, “It must have been Professor Dumbledore.”
Sean breathed a sigh of relief and then turned his eyes to the gradually dissipating white light. The magic spell can cover the entire Forbidden Forest. Dumbledore’s strength is indeed terrifying. While speaking, the dragon beside Sean seemed to have noticed something and stared in a direction.
“Hagrid!” a gruff voice can be heard.
The person who came was holding a wand and seemed to be having a trouble walking.
“Professor Kettleburn, it’s me.” Hagrid waved his hand.
Professor Kettleburn is a little old man with white hair and a beard. Except for missing one of his arms and his legs, the rest of his limbs are wooden prosthetics with many traces of smoke and fire.
Kettleburn limped over, “Are you guys all right?”
Sean noticed that his arm was also shaking a little bit strangely.
Hagrid nodded and asked again, “Professor Kettleburn, weren’t you unwell before?”
Keitelborn waved his hand, “It’s been a month since, but I saw something was wrong with the Forbidden Forest. I remembered that you were going to catch a dragon tonight. I’m a bit worried, so I come out and have a look.”
With that said, he turned his attention to the dragon beside Sean and then rubbed his beard, “It’s really a dragon from the Hebrides.”
The dragon was very wary of Kettleborn. It stretched its body and seemed ready to breathe fire at any time. Sean quickly comforted the dragon.
Kettleburn looked at Sean with strange eyes, “What’s your name?”
“Sean Wallup, sir.”
“Wallup? Very good, you’re not bad.” He showed a smile and shook the wooden prosthetic again, “I just came back from the dragon reserve a few days ago and accidentally knocked out a few dragons. This little guy looked fierce.”
Sean and Harry looked at each other. How come he accidentally knocked out a dragon? Are their teacher that powerful?
Kettelburn waved to them, “Hagrid, I’ll take care of this dragon from now on. I’ll notify someone to take it away tomorrow.”
The dragon seemed to have sensed something. It roared at Kettleburn, then turned its head to look at Sean eagerly. Sean looked at the dragon. He definitely couldn’t raise a dragon now. He would take care of the dragon, but everyone’s eyes were on him, and he couldn’t do much about the situation.
He pondered for a moment, and when he was about to speak, a light flashed, and Dumbledore appeared in front of them.
“It seems that this punishment is a little too much. But fortunately, all of you are okay.” Dumbledore put his hands on his waist and said gently.
Hagrid felt his heart drop, and he let out a breath, “Professor, it’s nice to see you here. What happened in the Forbidden Forest?”
Dumbledore nodded as if he was handling a trivial matter casually, “Those poor animals have been saved. But Hagrid, Sylvanus, many animals have been injured or even lost their life. So you may be busy for a while.”
Kettleburn moved his feet on the ground hard, “That’s why I’m here right now. But, Albus, what the hell happened in the Forbidden Forest? I’ve never seen many animals roaring and making a lot of commotion this time.”
Dumbledore’s expression became more serious, “It is still unknown, but I saw a little hint of ancient magic.”
Ancient Magic? Sean thought in his mind.
As if seeing through his mind, Dumbledore smiled, “Ancient does not necessarily mean powerful. Many ancient magics are extremely troublesome when cast.”
After speaking, he blinked his eyes mischievously, “There are a few of them that are not only complex movements and lengthy spells, but you even have to perform a dance.”
Hearing what Dumbledore said, Sean’s emotion dropped after knowing it wasn’t interesting.
“You did a good job, my child. You reminded me of a person, of course, in terms of handling these animals.” Dumbledore said with a smile.
A name popped into Sean’s mind. It’s Newt Scamander.
“Let this dragon be taken care of by Hagrid,” Dumbledore waved his hand, and the dragon fell into a drowsy sleep.
“I think tonight’s punishment has made you realize how serious it is when you violate the school rules. Now, it’s time to go back to sleep. Oh, Sean, remember to say goodbye when the MacFusty comes to pick it up.”
“I will, professor.” Sean nodded and then looked at the dragon reluctantly. It’s a pity that he can’t raise a dragon.
After Hagrid carried the dragon and Professor Kettleburn disappeared, Sean turned his head, and Dumbledore looked in the direction of the Forbidden Forest, wondering what he was thinking.
“Let’s go, Harry.”
Sean waited for a while and then walked to Dumbledore’s side.
“Professor, can I ask a question?”
“Of course. What is it?” Dumbledore stares at him.
