Chapter 36: No needless delay!
Chapter 36: No needless delay!
[Seth's POV:]
'This is tiring in all rights…. '
Currently, I am sitting along with my comrades inside a carriage which is heading toward the Two-crowned temples.
I nearly forgot about this event but when suddenly yesterday the second-grade Dumbledore a.k Headmaster Rowell sent a letter for a meeting I realized what one heck of an event I was going to suffer.
Every temple has different levels and the difficulty is predicted through the number of entrances they have. The one we have been assigned to was a Two-crowned, which means, there would be two ways of entering the Temple.
There are a total of one to six levels of Temples so one could assume the difficulty would not be that much if compared to those above Crown 3.
And also the students who have been selected for this exercise are all elites belonging to mainly first and second years.
Of course, the main plot characters were pushed in my, a mid-rank villain's, team since there would be something happening on this expedition.
A total of ten students excluding me were sitting in the carriage along with the two professors. Both of them were Tier 4 mages so I was pretty relaxed about safety for now.
My main reason for worry was of course the Hero and his heroines. Serena and Arata were sitting side by side while they chatted with others. Well, that was to be expected since Arata's good-natured halo always draws people toward him.
The exception was Anabelle who was looking outside of the window without concern about anyone. She did reply to those who spoke to her first but that response always ceased any opportunity to continue the conversation.
Her behavior is the weirdest alteration to the plot I have seen until now. She is acting not even close to the way she should be. Well, she indeed was a cold beauty displayed in the novel but to this level?
Yeah, indeed fishy.
'Well not like I should be meddling with her… '
I closed my eyes and focused on the surroundings outside. Since there wasn't anyone who wants to or dares to talk, I was mostly left alone.
I am not sulking, I swear…
The outside world has been dyed in a serene white shade since snow started descending a week ago and this part of the territory receives more snowfall because of its high altitude.
The paws of Single horned Wolves echoed in my senses who were currently pulling our carriage. It was simply impossible for the horses to be useful in this climatic condition.
Generally, wild beasts don't cooperate with humans after they were gifted with Soul Energy just like us. This godly energy grants opportunity not only to us but to the animals as well, to evolve and become a better version of themselves.
Very rare wild beasts get tamed to work for our benefit. I was quite surprised to see the Beast for the first time.
"President."
"Hmm."
Breaking my chain of unnecessary thoughts, I instinctively hummed upon hearing Professor Cedric's voice who was sitting just beside me.
Turning my gaze to the others I voiced my command.
"We will be walking from this point on."
____________…
[3rd Person POV:]
After voicing his command to the students, Seth sent a mental signal to the beasts and asked them to halt the carriage which they followed obediently.
Without waiting for someone to ask, Seth told the reason why they would be walking from that point.
"There is a blizzard storm raging uphill. We can't afford to lose the carriage so pick up your things and get out at once."
There was a momentary silence as everyone registered his words before Arata took his bag and initiated to move out first.
"Come Rena."
He offered his hand to Serena which the latter took absentmindedly. She didn't take anything with her since Serena had a dimensional pouch with her unlike Arata and some others.
Slowly the others also started to walk out with their things which included Anabelle as well. She looked at Seth with a strange glint in her eyes before descending the carriage.
Seth was unable to discern the meaning behind that gaze but he didn't put much mind to it and also got out followed by the professors.
Everyone was slowly wearing their coat and other woolen clothes while chattering casually since inside the carriage it wasn't shivering like it was now.
However, Seth didn't give them time to settle down and passed the next command as he also draped a thick animal fur coat over his shoulders.
"Line up in pairing. We will continue the voyage right away."
The students started hastily preparing and lining up as well since most of them didn't want to offend the President at any cost.
However, there were some who didn't give a shit about Seth's position and asked something nonchalantly.
"Shouldn't we wait for Team B before proceeding?"
Team B also left the school grounds alongside them but for some reason, they haven't arrived yet.
Seth knew nothing unfortunate had happened since in the novel Seth actually waits for Team B without any student asking him to.
Since Seth himself was quite tired because of the journey he decided to take the opportunity and drink some potion in the name of being delayed.
However, things are different now.
Since Team B would be arriving after an hour or so as per Seth's knowledge, there was no point in waiting needlessly.
"There is no need since the Temple can be accessed without them as well."
The group fell silent since it was true that regardless of Temple—whether it's two crowned or six—it can be challenged on intervals. What mattered was to conclude all the Crowns at the same time.
No one said anything further and lined up as they were instructed.
The two professors stood on the front and rear as a shield. Seth was in between the first pair of students and Professor Cedric who was at the front.
Without turning he passed the verdict before the group continued their journey.
"Heighten up your senses and keep your eyes open. More than anything, you should be looking out for yourself. Now, march forward."
