Chapter 267 - Oath (1)
With his extra weight, the power of Luke's punches and kicks increased tremendously, but then he learned that he shouldn't land too many times now; otherwise, his legs would be smashed under his own weight. Still, he kept using Flying Kick and sending the death knights flying to be smashed to death with each hit. The necromancer clicked her tongue while watching that. She knew that something like that could happen. Still, she also thought that the demerits would far outweigh the merits of having a heavier body for a few seconds. Regardless, Luke got slower, and that was what she wanted. The death knights surrounded him.
The elemental spheres held the enemies back and damaged them quite a bit. Still, Luke couldn't do much since after using Flying Kick and landing with the extra weight so much, pretty much all the bones on his legs were broken. Luke could escape by using Checkpoint, but the necromancer had prepared other groups of death knights to attack him as soon as he appeared. In the end, Luke decided to use another unusual strategy… he fired Spark Spheres toward the skeleton swords nonstop. Punching and kicking were too dangerous while surrounded like that and against enemies of that level. The damage wasn't high, but it began to pile up little by little with the power of the elemental spheres.

Somehow, Luke managed to finish that group just like that and made the necromancer realize that just surrounding and trying to slice him up won't be enough. As for Luke, he was thinking about how much he was lacking when Rina wasn't nearby. Luke and Shalia still had a lot of firepower, but they had become a three-man cell. The other two couldn't display their full power when one was missing.
In any case, the effects of the shadow swords disappeared, and Luke picked his ax only to see the necromancer making her death knights get even closer to her. Once that was done, she summoned several skeleton riders, knights, archers, and wizards.
"This is starting to get annoying…" Luke said.
"Let's do the usual, Luke," Shalia said.
Luke didn't want that. There are still three overlords left, and he didn't want to show his full power yet. That being said, Luke wanted to take down the necromancer as soon as possible… against an enemy that likes to fight from a distance. Luke had to be smarter. So, he had an idea… he created several water spheres, but those had dozens of spikes around them. Naturally, Shalia froze those wondering if they would be more powerful than a giant ice spear.
After using Weapon Augmentation level four, Luke began to throw those at the skeletons. He only used that level because he wanted to save some mana to create more of those. Besides, he didn't know if his idea would work, after all. Nevertheless, the spheres exploded after multiplying and hitting the enemies, and the ice spikes flew toward all directions causing extra damage in a radius.
Dozens of the ordinary skeletons were destroyed by those simple attacks. The necromancer tried to summon them faster, but Luke's idea worked splendidly well. While their power was lacking, the ice spikes finished the job. In the blink of an eye, only the death knights were left, and Luke targeted those as well.
The death knights swung their swords at the spheres, but while they hit those, it only worked to make them explode sooner than expected. Their attacks blocked most of the damage, but the spikes still reached and pierced their bodies quite a bit. Moreover, they didn't show any signs of melting, so the skeletons couldn't recover from the damage.
"Heh… even thought you are more like a warrior, to be able to overpower a necromancer with the use of magic alone," Shalia said while smirking. "Very impressive."
"I am not doing this alone," Luke said.
Luke couldn't freeze those, after all. Nevertheless, their teamwork paid off, and even the death knights began to be killed pretty fast. That necromancer didn't need bodies to summon her minions since the crystal was right behind her, and she probably sacrificed those to it. Which made Luke wonder, how did she do that? He couldn't sacrifice his skellies…
Regardless, the necromancer stepped forward to face Luke, and when he threw one of the spheres toward her, she fired a dark bullet, and his sphere disappeared. That was kind of scary…
As if things weren't troublesome enough, the necromancer began to emit a weird aura that materialized and then became a dark mist that quickly spread across the room, making everyone and everything lose sight of each other. Not to mention, Luke saw his parameters decrease. Then Nambra suddenly appeared behind him.
"This isn't good, my common support won't be enough," Nambra said. "Protect me and I will pass to you all my mana."
Luke didn't have to ask how, yet he could already tell that she would use her spheres. Still, he didn't have any other option… aside from using Weapon Augmentation. So, it was time to see if Nambra was really trustworthy. Luke could make sure that she wouldn't betray him by letting her become his follower. Still, he didn't want to have the power to completely control another sapient being. That seemed wrong… on many levels.
In any case, he nodded at her and then began to put his next plan into action. He enveloped the area around his group in water and then made Shalia freeze it. In the end, the dark mist could even dissolve that, but not fast enough. The mana spheres began to enter Luke's body almost every second, and every time that happened, he gained two hundred of mana. Nambra had a crazy level in Meditation and Focus… In any case, Luke ignored all that and focused on his task.. That would be the craziest thing he had ever done.
