Chapter 59: Three Great Realms
Chapter 59: Three Great Realms
"Yes, you are right, Xue," said Snowy while nodding. "We should still have plenty of time before they come knocking on our door. Besides, it's not like they could chase me to the mortal plane, so we're safe for the time being."
"Mortal Plane, is it? I've heard this name several times before. Is it the name of the place we currently live in? And aren't they powerful? Why can't they come here to find you?" Feng Xue released a barrage of questions for Snowy since she was really clueless about the matter. Rong Hua poked her head seemed to be greatly interested in their topic too.
"Hmm, where should I begin?" Snowy thought for a bit and then told Feng Xue what was The Mortal Plane in a nutshell.
The Mortal Plane or Mortal Realm, one of the three great realms. There are five main regions in Mortal Plane: Eastern, Western, Northern, Southern, and Central. The legends said that they were once a big continent, but no one can verify this fact due to the proof is already lost in time.
There are also more than a thousand pocket realms scatter across the Mortal Plane. They were either naturally formed or made by powerful experts.
The spiritual qi density in the air differs from one region to another depended on their relative position from Central Region; the farther they are, the less dense spiritual Qi in that region.
It also means that the Eastern Region is the less suitable place to cultivate hence the weakest.
The Southern region is one level above our region and then followed by Western Region, and then the Northern Region is the nearest from Central Region.
The Central Region is the region with the densest spiritual Qi where Immortals King and Immortals Emperor reigning. This place was also the best place to comprehend myriad laws and for cultivators forming their own dao. What made the Central Region so special? It's due to its position as the hub connecting the other two great realms Heaven Plane and Nether Plane with Mortal Plane.
It didn't mean that people could freely travel between the three realms, though. Residents of the Mortal Plane could only ascend to Heaven Plane if they had a breakthrough from a certain limit in their cultivation after they reached the Immortal Emperor Stage and fulfilled several other conditions or someone from Heaven Plane was aiding them with some heaven-defying methods.
On the other hand, Nether Plane was a realm for ghosts and non-living. If someone who still alive accidentally entered this realm, they were either immediately dispelled or trapped forever. Only after they died, their soul would be allowed to enter Nether Plane to face their judgment, retribution, and reincarnation.
"Even though it's difficult to ascend to Heaven Plane, it even more difficult for someone descended from Heaven Plane. Their descending path is actually more dangerous than the path to ascend from Mortal Plane. It was filled with tribulation thunder that can even shred mighty being into pieces, even Immortal Emperors only need a second to turn into ashes if they were stubbornly trying to traverse this path," explained Snowy clearly.
And then she added, "Now, say, there is someone who successfully enters the Mortal Plane, their fate is no much better if they have cultivation in Immortal Emperor stage or beyond due to the heavenly law forbid someone that strong live in Mortal Plane. They would either dispel back to Heaven Plane or being struck by the second round of tribulation thunder."
"So, that's what you mean when you said that they wouldn't chase you here. Is there no way to skirt around the problem? Say, if we someday ascend to Heaven Plane, doesn't it means that we can't see mom and father again?" asked Feng Xue, looking a bit down.
"No, there are ways to get here safely. Even though they try to keep it under wrap, there is a saying, "No secret can be kept forever". There are quite a lot of people who were obviously coming from there in the Central Region. How could they do it then?" This time, Rong Hua joined in the conversation.
"Yes, there is a way. They need to spend enormous resources and plenty of their time to make an avatar that allows them to live in Mortal Plane. The avatar's cultivation is limited to Immortal King stages to prevent being struck down by Heavenly Punishment," reply Snowy.
"So that was only his avatar... damn it!" murmured Rong Hua in a barely audible voice.
"Yay, at least we still have an option to visit the Mortal Plane."
"Un. But, it's still too far away. We need to increase our strength quickly so we won't be caught unprepared."
"Yes, yes. Of course! We will be strong enough to kick them in the ass by the time we meet them!"
"Un."
"Wait, what about the old man then? Although I haven't seen any proper gods or goddesses before, I can sense that he was extraordinary."
"Hmm, that's also something that bugs me."
Snowy and Feng Xue didn't pay attention to Rong Hua's mumbled and continued chatting. Rong Hua, who seemingly distracted by her own thought, snapped back to reality when she heard that the old man was mentioned, "Wait, do you mean that old fogey is different from the other?"
Snowy pondered for a little bit and answered in an unsure tone, "This is only my guess, but it seems that the old man is here with his true body. That's why I had been very shocked when I saw the old man for the first time. I can't put my finger on how he prevents the Heavenly Law from recognizing him, but he must be a lot more powerful than even the top godly being to have such a method."
Rong Hua's jaw dropped until it hit the ground, and her body slightly trembled, "So he was that powerful?! Damn my luck! Thankfully that old fogey was not offended by me. If not, I'm afraid that I would be flirting with some beautiful ghosts in Nether Plane already!"
Feng Xue was also astonished by Snowy's words. Even though Feng Xue had already guessed that the old man was anything but ordinary, Snowy's confirmation still impacting her greatly. She was given a creation by the old man who turned out to be a supreme existence; who wouldn't envy or jealous of her achievement in the future?
