Systemless in a Parallel World

"I will inform him that someone is interested in his One-Armed Saber technique, but I cannot promise you anything. Merlin Kivan was the strongest Adventurer In Zerek before he lost his right arm," Silas offered before he gave Zayn well-meant advice, "If he accepts your request and starts teaching you, don't talk about his arm. Don't ever approach that topic ever. I don't know what kind of mission he was given from his God to regrow his arm but it seems to be a sore spot for him."

Zayn thanked Silas for his great help. He felt pretty good today since his morning had been productive and the start of the day was nothing short of great. Not only was he treated like a human being by the young receptionist but Dirk Hax, someone who was said to hate weaklings and Normies, had treated him decently as well.

There was no need for Zayn not to feel happy. The satisfaction he felt led him to look over to the mission board within the Adventurer Hall.

The mission board was actually an entire wall filled with missions that had been given by the Adventurer Hall, the City Lord, Nobles, Merchants or others. Everyone in need of assistance could come to the Adventurer Hall and ask for help. The difficulty rating would be determined by the Adventurer Hall which would then request the Individuals to pay the calculated fee that combined the processing fee of the Adventurer Hall in addition to the reward that would be handed over upon completing the mission.

Zayn was intrigued by the mission board and he went over to take a look at the missions.

"Collecting Herbs…cleaning the sewage…finding the Baron's pet, Pochi…Killing monsters, here it is," He mumbled to himself as he dragged his index finger across the board until he finally found the first hunting mission.

While the central region was more or less void of monsters, with only a few weaker monsters inhabiting the central region to maintain the ecosystem, the adjacent regions were not that secure. There were hardly any villages and unnamed towns in the adjacent regions simply because it was too dangerous to live in the hardly populated places.

A town with more than 10,000 residents would definitely receive a name and C-rank Adventurers would be employed to make sure that no one inside the town could stir trouble, and neither something from outside could terrorize and slaughter everyone inside the town.

Being situated in the outermost parts of the central region, the city administration of Zerek had to keep an eye on the population of the monsters inhabiting the surrounding environment.

There were many things to pay attention to while doing so, including the recalibrating of the monsters' strength and the reaffirmation that no mutant had been born.

That was also why there were so many hunting missions during certain seasons, which was exactly why Zayn was quite lucky right now. Only a month or two had passed since the mating period of most monsters had begun and he was spoilt for choice amongst dozens of missions.

After a while, he picked a mission that attracted his interest the most. He returned to the wooden counter and handed the piece of paper to Silas, who eyed the mission for a while.

"Mutant Gluttony Termite Queen…are you sure? You don't have any large-scale powers, so it will be extremely hard for you to reach the Mutant Termite Queen. She will be surrounded by tens of thousands of Gluttony Termites. Even E Rank Adventurers with suitable powers will not choose this mission since the Termites are simply too many!" Silas was trying to convince Zayn that the mission was not good for him but there was only so much he could do.

Zayn tapped his finger on the wooden counter while confidently smiling at the young receptionist.

"Just assign the mission to me, and I will come back this evening with their heads," He said and thought for a while before asking, "…or what are the most valuable parts of the Gluttony Termites?"

Silas shook his head but he approved his request to accept the mission that had been reassigned to a D-rank Adventurer during the last few days. A few Adventurers attempted the mission, just to return with fatal casualties.

Two Adventurers with one Soulring had even died in the process, resulting in the increase of the Mission's difficulty rating. The number of termites continued to increase as they bred like cockroaches and there may as well be over a hundred thousand Gluttony Termites by now.

Of course, all those useful pieces of information were already clearly mentioned in the disclaimer of the mission. Zayn may only be a G-rank Adventurer for the time being but he had already one Soulring, which meant that he was allowed to pick D Rank missions as long as the strongest opponent he would face wouldn't be in possession of a Soulring.

The Mutant Gluttony Termite Queen had yet to create her first Soulring. That had been found out recently. Thus, Zayn was allowed to pick the mission no matter how many Gluttony Termites surrounded the designated target.

"The thorax of the Gluttony Termites contains an ingredient that is highly sought after by merchants. Beauty products can be manufactured with the gel-like substance," Silas answered, not feeling good while staring at the brightly gleaming eyes of the young teenager.

It was obvious that Zayn was way too confident and that this mission might actually result in his doom.

Silas didn't want to see this happening because Zayn made him recall the best memories with his sister, however, he was not supposed to interfere in the choices of the Adventurers if not explicitly requested. He had to maintain his professionalism and was bound by the code of conduct.

"The former Gluttony Termite Queen is probably being used as a breeding machine to produce more Gluttony Termites for that substance, right?" Zayn asked even though he could already fathom that the merchants and the City Lord were likely to leave the Gluttony Termite Queen alone because of the beauty products that could be manufactured with the gel-like substance.

Silas nodded his head which resulted in Zayn nodding his head subconsciously in response.

'That means, I can earn a fortune while devouring every single ownerless soul particle as well!'
