Chapter 605: The Underground Ancient City!

Chapter 605: The Underground Ancient City!

Rumble!

With a thunderous rumble, the tomb chamber doors closed, and the lanterns lining the walls of the corridor immediately lit up. The dim yellow light illuminated the pathway, but a lingering chill still crept into the heart and sent shivers down the spine.

Whoosh!

In an instant, Ling Feng felt a surge of killing intent, followed by a bone-chilling aura that seemed to wrap around him, as if trying to freeze him eternally.

"That damned woman!" Ling Feng clenched his fists, realizing that Tuoba Yan acted with decisiveness. The moment the tomb doors closed, she had already launched her attack.

"Wait!" Ling Feng shouted.

The endless cold still enveloped him, and from the depths of an infinite abyss, a voice devoid of any emotion echoed, "Any last words?"

"Miss Tuoba, don't you think it's a bit too early to make a move on me?" Ling Feng calmly spoke, slightly activating his protective true qi. Though he couldn't see Tuoba Yan, he remained composed. "The imperial tomb may be open now, but don't you think that to truly obtain the Great Emperor's inheritance, it will require both of us working together?"

"Are you done talking yet?" Tuoba Yan's voice remained icy. "Once I kill you, I can naturally obtain the ancestral inheritance."

"Hahaha, should I call you naive or foolish?" Ling Feng raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "The other half of the Tiance Mirror has already recognized me as its master. Do you think you can succeed with only half of the mirror?"

The killing intent slightly receded, and it was clear that Tuoba Yan was now hesitating.

"Why don't we cooperate for now? Once we truly find the Great Emperor's inheritance, we can fight to the death afterward," Ling Feng said as he shrugged and smiled. "Besides, don't forget that Li Qingling also entered the imperial tomb before us. With his strength, he might not be any weaker than you. Only by joining forces can we deal with him.

"Miss Tuoba, you're a smart person. You should know which choice is most beneficial for you."

Tuoba Yan remained silent for a moment. Then, in the next instant, her killing intent dissipated, and the bone-chilling coldness surrounding them retreated entirely.

As the light shifted, a blue glow appeared, revealing Tuoba Yan's graceful figure within the illumination.

"I'll trust you for now," Tuoba Yan said coldly, her eyes fixed on Ling Feng. "But if you try anything, I won't hesitate to kill you!"

"Any tricks will have to wait until after our cooperation ends," Ling Feng smiled faintly, rubbing his nose before extending his right hand. "Happy cooperation!"

"Hmph!" Tuoba Yan shot a glare at Ling Feng but said nothing. She then swiftly moved deeper into the tomb corridor.

Ling Feng's outstretched hand hovered in mid-air as he felt a bit awkward. He casually rubbed his forehead and shook his head before following closely behind her.

Before long, they reached the end of the passage, arriving at a dark and eerie entrance.

This entrance could be said to be the true gateway to the imperial tomb.

The passage inside was massive, at least ten meters high and seven to eight meters wide. On the rock walls, luminous pearls adorned the sides that emitted a soft glow. Though not particularly bright, they still illuminated the path ahead.

As they ventured deeper within, even the sound of the wind ceased, instead replaced by a chilling air that seemed to emanate from the deepest, most hellish abyss, making one shiver involuntarily.

However, Tuoba Yan's expression remained unchanged as she continued forward.

Ling Feng couldn't help but feel curious. Tuoba Yan appeared to be just a teenager, yet she seemed to have seen through everything and was devoid of the natural fear most people possessed.

What has this woman been through?

Finally, the long and narrow dark passageway came to an end. Tuoba Yan stopped in her tracks. It turned out that ahead of them was a cliff with no more pathways beyond.

Ling Feng walked up to Tuoba Yan's side and looked ahead. He couldn't help but gasp in surprise.

Below the cliff, there was an enormous palace. It was grand and majestic, like a slumbering beast hidden in the depths of hell. The only word to describe it was “Big!”

Unbelievably big!

"Amazing craftsmanship!" Ling Feng squinted his eyes in awe. Even the tombs of actual emperors and kings couldn't be more impressive than this.

Of course, Tuoba Yan didn't respond. The blue light of the Tiance Mirror swirled around her, and a pair of giant wings formed behind her. With a flap of her wings, she flew down towards the imperial tomb below.

Ling Feng also used his true qi to form wings and followed closely behind.

After about half an hour, the two landed outside the imperial tomb. What greeted them was a towering city wall that stood a hundred meters tall, like a mountain range. The greenish-blue walls glimmered faintly with phosphorescence and were covered in countless sword marks and cracks, exuding a sense of solemnity and killing intent.

In the center of the wall stood a magnificent gate tower, surrounded by broken giant crossbows. This city could be described as indestructible, but it had still succumbed to the relentless passage of time, turning into nothing more than dust in history.

If this city had indeed been built by the Tiance Clan, then the Great Emperor Tiance must have had great ambitions, possibly even aiming to conquer the world. Unfortunately, the Tiance Clan was destined to be short-lived. No matter how talented and visionary Great Emperor Tiance was, he never had the chance to fulfill his aspirations.

Before this grand city, Tuoba Yan finally paused, and for the first time, a different emotion flickered in her eyes besides indifference.

Perhaps, she too could feel the helplessness and regret of her ancestors.

"Let's go. Li Qingling has probably already gone ahead of us," Ling Feng reminded her.

Though Tuoba Yan still ignored Ling Feng, she quickly moved forward and entered the underground ancient city.

As they got closer, Ling Feng realized that the grandeur and size of this underground city far exceeded his imagination.

It was filled with a rough, domineering aura. Despite a thousand years of erosion, it remained incredibly solid.

About five hundred meters from the city walls, there was a dried-up moat that was a hundred meters deep and three hundred meters wide. Although it had long since dried up, it still showcased the overpowering might of this grand city.

The two of them leaped over the moat, but for some reason, an overwhelming pressure suddenly assaulted them. Their hearts raced with fear, and even Ling Feng couldn't help but shiver.

It felt as if an invisible hand had gripped his heart, ready to crush it at any moment.

"Master, this place is strange," Zifeng's voice suddenly echoed in his mind, with a hint of panic. [<ref>(Note: Zifeng, although a demonic beast, is an elemental life form and can merge with Ling Feng's body, so the restrictions outside the imperial tomb don't repel him.)</ref>]

"What's wrong?" Ling Feng raised his sword-like eyebrows and responded with his spiritual consciousness, unafraid of Tuoba Yan noticing. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"I sense a terrifying presence here, something that doesn't belong to this world!" Zifeng's voice trembled.

"Power that doesn't belong to this world?" Ling Feng narrowed his eyes and nodded slightly. "Alright, I understand. Thanks for the warning."

"Mhm," Zifeng responded quickly, and then immediately shrank back, seemingly terrified of that power.
