Chapter 263 Regeneration beyond regeneration
I struck it hard on the guts with my energy shield. The creature didn't budge, though I could tell it felt some pain from the blow. It moved its arm, arching it to hit me, but before it could reach, I powered up myself, having a blue energy aura encapsulating me as if I was set ablaze by blue flames. I screamed, and I could feel skin and sinew stretching, tearing, and before I knew it, I had gone through my opponent and I was behind them, slimy white fluid dripping off my shield.
I turned and saw that it had its hands over the gaping hole. The large wound leaked out its lifeblood, which was one slimy opaque white thing, it was like spoiled watery oats and I was a little repulsed.
Suphas turned to me, and though it looked to be suffering a large wound, its face betrayed what was between its muscular torso, it showed no sign of distress or pain or nothing, it was stoic. Then, it removed its hands, and I saw it, the hole was no more, and thick flesh was in the place of where the hole was.
"That's not surprising at all." Yes,it truly wasn't. I had said earlier that almost everyone within a certain power set had the ability <regeneration>, it was a given, and I didn't expect Suphas to die anticlimactically from that wound. That would have been extremely boring and unacceptable for the boss of a floor. Like every other boss, Suphas needed to live up to his title, and fight.
It raised its opaque ethereal trident and it shimmered from the light of the solar flare. The earth heed its call–the will of the trident, and they stormed forth, twisting, turning and hardening. All in a bid to cause me harm.
Unfortunately for Suphas, I had no problem skidding my way around rocks, I wasn't going to get hit by one, and I greatly doubted if any could get to me, Haven was harder than ever, the rocks wouldn't be able to pierce it.
Nevertheless, I turned, twisted and teleported, avoiding them. The moment I set my eyes on Suphas, a giant ball of energy came my way, my eyes widened, and were it not for my swift thinking and my mental fortitude, I would have gotten swept up in the attack.
My image flickered and I was gone before it could hit. I watched it swallow the field of jutting rocks, and then I took my attention back to my enormous adversary.
'This thing, it is still holding back.' I realized, it hadn't tried combination attacks, it hadn't done much moving from its position. So far, it had only shot out energy attacks, commanded rocks and swiped its arms, surely there was more to it, right?
"Perhaps if I take an eyeball, it would think that I am serious."
'Seriously, I'm not some weakling that you can choose to hold back against, it would be your ugly death.'
I had been calm and calculative throughout our entire bout, but this, knowing that it held back, and hadn't used a number of the attacks in its arsenal made me feel slightly insulted, and my face showed how I felt, with the frown on it.
'I suppose the fight just began, I better step things up a notch.'
Suddenly, there were three of me, and then there were six, and then, a dozen, and then twenty. Afterimages of myself surrounded the head of the colossal monster, I knew that wouldn't fool it, I needed more, I needed to do more, and I had to rely more on my speed to get there.
'I should overwhelm it with my speed, I must be faster, I must appear to be nothing at all.' My body flared with energy, though it was visible to no one but me. I was increasing my speed by every nanosecond, no, I was even faster, I got around much faster, I had never been as fast as I was at that moment.
And to my surprise, there were over a thousand afterimages around Suphas, every looking like the real thing, all indistinguishable from me.
And there I saw it, it was my time to strike. My Wyvern Blade was in hand, flaring with my signature dark flames.
Suphas fast as it was was disoriented and confused by my numbers, it wasn't aware of what was coming at it. I zoomed right before its forehead, in-between its horns, and then I swung down my blade with all of my might, my teeth gritted, my hands tightly clasped around the handle. I had activated <Absolute Strength>, which made this task a thousand times easier.
My blade struck down, rending through its flesh as I applied force to it. My sword drove down its body and then left it, stopping below its abdomen. I immediately teleported to avoid the spill of guts and blood on me.
I levitated above, at an height of its face and I smirked, expecting it to fall apart into two equal halves at any moment now.
It didn't.
The massive tear I had created threatened to have it come apart, but as soon as I noticed, as soon as the tear disappeared and it was whole, it was like I had not just sent a cleave through it then. I was surprised and slightly confused. I possessed regeneration, but if such a move was to land on me, then certainly, I would be a goner. It on the other hand recovered in just a blink of an eye.
"Is it immortal?" There was an unwanted excitement to my voice, I was amazed by the sight, truly Suphas was worthy of being a floor's boss.
However, immortality of such caliber would be a pain in the ass , I needed to do something quick. How would I win against a creature that recovers from being cut in halves in a second?
'I suppose I can always try it the old fashioned way, flames, lots of flames.'
That was right, if Suphas was anything like the forger, attacks such as flames should pose a great deal of harm to it. Your next read is at empiren/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Dark Flames."
