Chapter 104 - The Followers Of Volgoxas(1)
Chapter 104: The Followers of Volgoxas(1)
Time flew by, and Lenna's six hours ended. The system forced her out of Panagea as her time was complete.
"I would return tomorrow," She said as she wore her mask and covered her clothes again. Her identity as an Elf couldn't be leaked as it would call several powerful beings to the Kingdom.
Aakesh only nodded in response to her. After she covered herself, she also nodded at Aakesh as a form of respect and left the store. After her, no new customer came to his store until the closing time.
He closed the store when its close time arrived. He then proceeded toward the portal room and entered one of the portals, appearing in Panagea the next moment.
Aakesh appeared in the market after entering the Panagea. He could sense a grim atmosphere in the market as half of the shops were closed, while the shopowners in the open shops had a tense look on their faces.
It was the first time, Aakesh had seen the market this empty. He could see several shop owners closing their shop as they couldn't get any customers.
"What's going on?" Aakesh grabbed the shoulder of one rare passerby and asked him.
"Adve...adventurer!" The passerby was shocked by someone suddenly grabbing his shoulder.
"Why's the market so empty?" Aakesh ignored his reaction and asked.
"You have to save us, adventurer!" The passerby, instead of answering, bent down, grabbed his legs, and started crying.
"What happened?" Aakesh expressionlessly asked as he had only gotten a quest several hours before, and the situation had already turned this grim.
"The radicals...radical wrote here...heretics in front of a house by blo...blood and then burned the family living in that house alive," The passerby responded while his voice slurred due to crying and the fear of the radicals.
"What's your town-head doing?" Aakesh asked as Mark was a Level 50 warrior.
"The town-head had left for the city. He would only return three days later. Now only you could save us from those demons. Please save us!" The passerby answered and started pleading for help in the end.
"Okay, leave my leg, I would hunt-"
Aakesh was responding when suddenly he stopped as he sensed a glare at him. He turned to his right and saw a store owner glaring at him and the passerby. When he noticed Aakesh looking back at him, he looked away and started minding his own business.
"Okay, leave me!" The next moment, Aakesh looked down at the crying passerby holding his leg and told him.
"Please save us, adventurer!" The passerby didn't let go of his legs and pleaded again.
"Okay, I would save you, but for that, you need to leave my legs," Aakesh expressionlessly responded as he didn't want to kick away an already crying person.
The next moment, the passerby released his legs and stood up. "Please save us from those demons, adventurer!" He pleaded again while trying to wipe his tears away.
Aakesh wanted to say something, but he felt another glare aiming at the passerby from the store owner. This time, he didn't look back and acted like he didn't feel it.
"Don't worry. Those demons wouldn't be able to hide far from me," Aakesh responded, and as he had expected when he used the word demon, he became the source of glare from the store owner. He still ignored it and left the passerby on his own on the road.
The passerby also started leaving where he was going at first, but he didn't notice that the store owner had closed his shop and started following him silently, while he didn't know that someone was also following him.
When the passerby reached the turn of the road, he had just turned when someone suddenly grabbed his shoulder and dragged him to a corner.
He tried to look at the person who grabbed him, but before he could turn his head, he was thrown at the wall with a thud sound.
"Ugh!" The passerby groaned in pain as he felt half of his bones broken after the throw.
"How dare you call the follower of great Volgoxas demon?" The next moment, the passerby heard a cold voice.
"Demon!" The passerby exclaimed in fright after hearing the cold voice.
"Slap!"
A sound of a slap echoed in the corner as the store owner slapped the passerby.
"Ugh, forgive me!" The passerby cried in pain as the slap caused half of his face to sink.
"Hmph!" The store owner scoffed as he slapped another part of his face.
"Fforggivve mme!" The passerby apologized as the tears he had stopped started flowing again, while his speech became unclear due to the pain.
"You can't be forgiven for you've sinned by calling the follower of great Volgoxas as demons. You need to atone for your sins, and your only atonement is to die," The store owner coldly replied as a cruel expression appeared on his face.
"Oh, atonement for calling demons a demon!"
An unfamiliar voice suddenly echoed around the corner, which stunned the store owner. He turned around and noticed a being standing some distance from him.
"You!" The store owner exclaimed in shock when he found out the identity of the being. It was none other than Aakesh.
"Look, adventurer, I know you can't die, but don't think for a moment that you can defeat our religion. I would give you the first and last warning. You shouldn't involve yourself in the matter of us natives-"
"I've heard enough!" Aakesh interrupted the store owner to speak any further as he disappeared from his spot and appeared in front of him.
The store owner was taken aback by the sudden turnaround. Before he could think of ways to defend himself, he found a hand on his face, and the next moment, he was on the ground face-first.
"So, tell me, how many people does your religion have?" Aakesh asked as he picked up the store owner by the scruff of his neck after turning him around.
"How dare-"
He growled glaringly, but his words came to a halt as he found himself again face-first on the ground a second later.
"Only answer the things I ask for," he then heard a cold voice in his ears as he found himself getting picked up again.
"So, tell me now, how many people does your religion have?" He asked again.
