Chapter 15: Of Monsters and Men

Chapter 15: Of Monsters and Men

Zeke jumped up and, was caught by the blade of his Knight. The conjured monster then flung him out of the sword, sending Zeke flying towards the Priest. The monster activated a barrier in the process but, was still sent flying from the force of the attack. Zeke broke some bones on his legs because of this and, right now, he's vulnerable to the King's attack which is just standing next to him.

"Hi there." He said, as the King swung its sword down it him. This didn't hit as the Knight already arrived, blocking the blow with its shield and, swinging its sword at the King's feet, throwing the monster off balance.

"You handle that thing." Zeke said, healing his legs after 20 seconds and running towards the priest.

The King growled but, it couldn't get away from the Knight who is a better combat type monster. The King had its eyes gleam in a bright red color, suddenly getting stronger yet again. The Knight noticed this and got off from its enemy.

Meanwhile, Zeke has already reached the Priest whom he stopped from creating another spell by hitting its staff. Only a portion of the staff got a crack in the process and, the Priest used a shorter range spell, creating five summoned skeleton soldiers to fight for him.

"Really?" Zeke said, rushing toward these monsters and destroying them instantly. The diversion was, however, enough for the priest to summon spiked vines which ran after Zeke.

He sliced through these vines and got the bones from the defeated summons. He used these to bash through the staff once again, leaving a larger crack.

The Priest then created another spell as Zeke picked another set of bones. It's a sort of gravitational spell that tried to suck him inside. As the pull got stronger, Zeke used [Quick Step] five more times, draining his mana completely but, getting out of the spell's range.

He then hit the staff one last time, breaking it in two. The priest tried to grab its small human enemy but, Zeke jumped away. He then used the wall at the back of the priest as his footing and, kicked the monster at the back of the head. His attack had enough force to move the priest enough for it to reach the area of the spell that it created.

The priest tried to claw its way out of the spell but, without its staff, the spell cannot be cancelled until it has finally consumed enough mass to clog the hole in the fabric of space. The priest screamed as it met its inevitable end while Zeke saddened at the sight of it.

"This probably means I can't conjure the priest." It thought to itself thinking how the monster will be completely wiped out of the room.

With a final scream, the priest got completely devoured, making Zeke sit down as he waited for his leg to heal once again.

"I need to find a spell connected to pain nullification next." He told himself, feeling tired from the continuous barrage of overwhelming pain that this fight has given him.

As he looked at where the Priest vanished, three items of different colors gleamed. A white item, a gray one, and another with the green color. Zeke's [Analyze] activated as he moved towards the items. He started with the green item, until he classified the white one.

He placed the staff and the robe inside his inventory while he wore the necklace around his neck. The necklace is made from a thin dark rope, tying a small blue gem on it. As soon as he wore the necklace, he looked at his mana which has now increased.

"This'll come in handy." He thought to himself as he now focused his attention on the battle between his Knight and the King.

Based on strength alone, the King seem to overpower the knight but, with the combat abilities of Zeke's conjured monster, it was able to overcome this difference. The King swung its great sword at the Knight which was once again blocked using the shield.

With this, the King got the shield hooked to the tip of his blade which has a crescent shape. As he raised his sword, an opening is made on the Knights armor. The King immediately retracted his sword, twisting its body as it hit the Knight's armor.

Zeke's knight crashed on a wall with a part of its armor being destroyed; revealing the flames that hid underneath. However, it wasn't the only monster that got damaged. As the King made this swing, the Knight used its sword to make its own slash. Hence, it looked at its opponent who now has only a single arm left unable to lift its great sword properly anymore.

Zeke's knight then placed its shield in front while it hid the sword held by the other hand with its arm bended and its shoulder stretched back. The knight then used a variation of [Quick Step] mixed with another skill that strengthened both the defense of its shield and the offense of its sword, covering both in darker flames.

The King did its best to even get its balance back as it positioned its great sword in front to block. But, the sword simply got shattered as the shield collided with it. The Knight's sword then came next, piercing through the chest of the King which is now wide open. The blow created a burst of blue flames at the back of the King, shattering all its bones and destroying it completely.

"That's one strong summon." Zeke told himself as his conjured Knight approached him. The monster knelt in front of Zeke. It lay its shield and its sword on the ground, each being at the side of the monster. Then, it bowed its head as if waiting for something to happen.

"Oh it must want to get acknowledged." He thought to himself, seeing something like this happen in medieval setting games.

There aren't any swords nearby so Zeke just took out the staff he just looted and stood up, with his leg completely healed.

"You. My Grand Knight are now dubbed" Zeke thought of all the cooll names that undead commanders and knights have, then he finally found one suiting his champion.

"Samael."

The name originated from a heavenly host who is famously known to be a Grim Reaper. A living manifestation of destruction who is both kind and cruel, Samael is the chief of Dragons and the Prince of Darkness.

The monster's eyes glowed yellow as it stood up and placed a closed fist to its chest. Then, Zeke dispersed the summoned monster leaving him and the remaining members of the party within the Secret Dungeon.

Zeke tried getting the Champion and the King but, he failed at [Conjuring] both of the monsters, feeling a bit irritated by not having even a single one of the three. However, luck was still on his side as, the loot dropped by the King, the Champion, and all other skeleton monsters he destroyed are now waiting to get picked up by him.

He saw all the colors lying around the room and only picked up the ones that glowed blue and green with nothing of a higher caliber being present. He wanted to get everything done before the two woke up so he left the sorting for later, putting all that he picked up inside his inventory.

After getting everything done, he summoned Samael again, making the monster carry Boulder while Zeke carried Allesiah. They carried the two adventurers to a safe spot inside the dungeon and then, proceeded to finishing the main task.

Compared to the monsters inside the secret dungeon, the normal goblins inside the lair are easier to deal with. The leader of the group is a shaman whom Zeke was able to finish with a single slice through the neck.

After all this, Zeke tried summoning all the monsters present as Samael picked up all the loot that was lying at the end of the lair.

"Conjure."

The flames grew bright until, all the goblins came successfully out of the spell. Zeke didn't combine them anymore thinking how a bunch of small fry lackeys would be a good diversion in a fight. All of them are warrior type monsters except for the shaman who is a spellcaster.

Zeke tried giving the robe to this monster thinking that, whatever he owns can still be used by others and it worked. With the robe being worn by the shaman, its stats have increased by a noticeable amount but, still remained on its current rank.

He regretted not getting every item on the Secret Dungeon as the portal is now closed but, it couldn't be helped. The space in his inventory is limited an there was barely enough room to fit all green and blue tagged items.

At this, Zeke went back to Boulder and Allesiah who have just woken up.
