Chapter 102: RPG-like Leveling Training In Monster's Abode (4)
Chapter 102: RPG-like Leveling Training In Monster's Abode (4)
Axel's PoV:
My teammates and I were currently spectating the solo battle of the heroes against the level 1500 monsters.
The level 1500 monsters that I had commanded to fight against the recently summoned heroes were specially designed to improve the current skills of the heroes.
I wasn't just roaming around the forest to find any monsters that I had came across and used them to battle with the heroes.
I had captured monsters that had something to do with the skill sets of the heroes.
After all, with my insane amount of stats in my speed, it wouldn't make sense if it took me at least 10 minutes just to create an array and sign a contract with a monster of whatever I could found.
Axel was currently fighting against a small black cat but its appearance was something that would let others underestimate it.
It was a black shadow cat that had a bloodline of an ancient shadow lion.
Although its appearance was more of a cat than a lion due to its bloodline being diluted throughout the generations, it still had awakened the skills of its ancestor.
The black shadow cat had a tremendous amount of speed which was boosted because of its small size, footwork skills, and geographical advantage which allowed it to jump from tree to tree in quick succession.
It also had an annoying ability to clone itself using its shadow clone skill.
The black shadow cat was the best sparring partner for Alex who needed to hit multiple high-speed moving targets using his swordsmanship skills so that it would increase by a few levels.
Speed, power, and concentration were crucial for a swordsman and it was hard to find a monster that could help Axel's training in all three aspects at the same time.
As Axel had fought against the black shadow cat before, he was beaten up by it due to not being able to fully concentrate on his surroundings.
His power and speed were alright but it took him some time to control it so that less effort would be needed to attack the clones of the black shadow cat since less force would be needed to eliminate it.
Distere's sparring partner was a treant that excelled at using wood magic.
It could also perform high-speed wood attacks that would improve Distere's knife skills.
The treant would create many durable wooden sticks that had sharp ends and used them to attempt in thrusting and stabbing Distere at a speed that was almost as fast as the speed of sound.
Distere would precisely parry the wooden sticks that the treant had thrust towards him using his sharp knife.
What's more amazing was that every time Distere parried the attacks of the treant, he would skillfully carve off the wood from its wooden sticks bit by bit and until there were simple wood carvings on the treant's wooden sticks.
At first, Distere had gotten stabbed by the treant, causing him to have small wounds on his body and it was due to him moving his body to minimize the damage and avert the wooden sticks from hitting his vital parts which prevented him from having major wounds.
Seeing that both Alex and Distere was having a steady improvement and their life wasn't in danger, I shifted my gaze towards the battle of the other heroes.
Grace Nitoirl was fighting a forest spirit that looked like a green-colored humanoid.
The forest spirit attacked her using the wood and nature magic by manipulating the grass and trees that were found in the surroundings.
As long as the forest spirit was within a forest, then it would be invincible against opponents that had the same level as it had and below.
Physical attacks were also useless since the forest spirit was made out of mana from the surroundings.
It was the best counter for Grace who relies on her creation magic to create physical objects so I designed this training for her to improve her creation in other higher elements such as space and time.
If she could use creation magic to create a space crack or black hole, then she would be able to defeat the forest spirit by sealing its mana or sucking all of its mana towards a black hole like what I did from my battle against the humanoid from Killing Mountain.
It seemed that Grace still had not defeated the forest spirit and had not found out the weakness of the forest spirit since she was just creating physical objects such as knives, rocks, and woods.
Grace also tried using explosives that were made out of mana but it could only temporarily disturb and disperse the forest spirit's mana.
She only received minor wounds so she was still safe.
I checked on Ferros Malum's life and death battle.
Ferros Malum was up against a forest slime king.
It was 5 meters tall, 5 meters wide, and was of course, circular. Its body was filled with sticky green liquid.
Its attack power was limited and its only skill was to devour and store a being inside its body with the help of its sticky substance.
Once a being was inside the forest slime king's body, it would absorb its prey's mana until it had been sucked dry.
The forest slime king wasn't capable of killing its prey by using corrosive liquid to digest its prey but instead, it would kill its prey by suffocating it inside its body.
The only way to defeat it was to destroy its core but it was able to move its core around its body as a way of protecting it.
If the core wasn't destroyed, then the damaged part of its body would be able to be regenerated.
Sure if it was Mathew who fought against the forest slime king then it would have been a piece of cake even if Mathew was level 1 since he could just use his [Universal Steal] skill to steal the core of the slime and destroy it.
But for a hero who relied too much on his power and hasn't gotten full control over his power yet, it would be difficult for Ferros.
Unless Ferros directed his destruction skill towards the core and if it had escaped then chase over it, then it would be a tricky opponent for him.
The purpose of choosing such an opponent for Ferros who was deluded that he could kill any monster as long as he destroyed it, was to force himself to quickly get the hang of controlling his destruction magic under intense pressure.
As they said, "People would improve their skills in times of danger to survive."
I watched the battle of Ferros who had fought against the forest slime king.
The forest slime king was moving towards Ferros at a moderate speed and left a trail of sticky green liquid on its path.
Ferros ran away from it and went around the forest slime king while looking at where he would run to so that he would avoid the sticky green liquid.
Seeing Ferros escaping, the forest slime king shot ten balls of sticky green liquid towards Ferros while the latter dodged it and used destruction magic to shoot a beam from one of his fingertips towards it.
The beam passed through the slime king's enormous body which created a small hole in its body but the small hole on its body was regenerated.
Ferros pointed his index finger towards the slime king's core which imitated a pistol.
He gathered his mana to his fingers and released a thick beam of destruction magic towards the slime king's core.
Before it could hit the slime king's core, the slime king's survival instinct had allowed it to quickly moved its core out of the beam's way.
A medium-size hole had appeared on the slime king's body and 45% of its whole body was obliterated by the destructive beam.
The hole in the slime king's body had been quickly regenerated.
"It seemed that I had to increase the charging time of my destructive beam."
Ferros muttered and began to charge his mana towards his index finger but the slime king interrupted his attack by hurling sticky balls towards Ferros.
Ferros had no option but to dodge which caused his attack's interruption.
"If that slime king had not interrupted this lord of destruction, then this lord would have destroyed it until none was left!"
Ferros spoke in agitation while he observed the slime king.
"Ferros and the others are still in good health so their training had paid off. The hero that I have not yet surveillance is Catherine Smith."
After spectating the battle of Ferros, I checked to see the battle of Satomi Fujikawa against the monster that I had designated to fight with him.
The monster who had been fighting against Satomi Fujikawa was a fire lion king.
The reason why I chose the fire lion king as an opponent for Satomi was that it had the most attack power compared to other monsters at the same level.
The fire lion king had a nimble body which allowed it to dodge any attacks that Satomi had inflicted.
The fire lion king's fire attacks were able to burn Satomi alive and its sharp claws and teeth tore Satomi apart.
The fire lion killed Satomi several times and Satomi was reviving every time he had been killed.
Until Satomi's death count had reached 1000, it would be near impossible for him to defeat the fire lion king.
I chose an opponent that was out of Satomi's league so that he would be able to die. Therefore, increasing his power using his passive skill [Reborn].
The life and death battle training that I had designed for Satomi would be able to increase both Satomi's power and pain tolerance.
Since he had decided to walk the path of immortality, he needed to get used to the pain of death or his power would be useless if he was a coward.
I averted my gaze from Satomi and looked at Catherine Smith instead.
She had orange long hair and a pair of blue eyes.
When I was training Alex and Distere in the training ground, I had glanced at her for only a second before averting my gaze.
I had noticed that the one who informed her about this world and taught magic and fighting skills was Aerin.
Since Catherine had chosen Aerin as her mentor, then her cheat skill should be related to nature and plants.
I observed the equipment of Catherine.
Catherine wielded a... hoe? two small storage bags were each placed from left to right on her waist.
I guessed that her class was a farmer.
"Now I don't have to trouble myself on searching vegetables and fruits in nearby forests."
