Chapter 119: Finishing The Last Test And Obtaining Skills And Artifacts (2)
Axel's PoV:
I went to the front door of the Holy Church, opened it, and entered it.
"It's Axel Everheart, the Goblin Hero! Praise the strongest hero!"
I was greeted and cheered by some of the church's followers despite the priest preaching about the words of God.
The priest didn't mind the actions of the church's followers even though it was rude to interrupt their sermon since it was for the sake of greeting a hero.
For the members of the Holy Church, a hero was a champion or an apostle sent by the Gods to save the world in God's stead so as long as the heroes didn't commit anything against the law, the heroes would be regarded as someone just below a God in terms of respect.
Even rulers in some kingdoms would kneel in front of the presence of a hero since they believe that a hero was above them in terms of authority.
After all, the heroes would be the ones who would contribute the most in the upcoming war against the demons to save mankind and other races.
I greeted the church's followers by waving back towards them to return the favor.
I ascended to the second floor of the Holy Church and walked in the hallway to find Mathew's room.
After I found a door that had a sign hanging on it which said 'Mathew's Room', I reached my hand towards the doorknob and opened the door.
The interior of Mathew's room was now within my sight as I entered it.
I examined the room of Mathew and as usual, there were many high-ranked skill scrolls and artifacts that were littered all over the floor as if it was some garbage.
I found a table inside Mathew's room and on top of it, a few high-ranked skill scrolls and artifacts were placed on it.
It seemed that it had the same value as the skill scrolls and artifacts that was littered on the floor but after inspecting the skill scroll on the table, I found out that it was suitable for Mathew.
Mathew might have stolen the other skill scrolls and artifacts just to train his [Universal Steal] skill while the other skill scrolls and artifacts that were placed on the table was the one that Mathew had needed to improve his strength.
Since that was the case, I only took the skill scrolls and artifacts that were littered on the floor and stored them inside my system inventory.
I left the skill scrolls and artifacts on the table untouched except for the skill scroll that I had inspected since Mathew might have needed it.
I only took 6 skill scrolls that were at mythical rank and 6 artifacts that were at legendary rank.
The skill scrolls and artifacts that I had obtained on the floor of Mathew's room were strong enough to be given as a reward for the junior heroes.
Furthermore, I didn't check what skill scroll it was so it was up to the junior heroes' luck if the skill scrolls that I had chose matched up with their class.
However, the legendary artifacts that I had chosen were compatible with the 6 junior heroes and it suited their class such as the legendary rank fiery kitchen knife for Distere so it wasn't that much of a problem.
For that reason, I didn't need to wake up Mathew who was currently sleeping on his bed.
It seemed that Mathew was taking a rest to recover from the backslash of the [Universal Steal] skill.
After I made sure that I had stored all of the needed skill scrolls and artifacts in my system inventory, I rummaged through all of the skill scrolls and artifacts that were littered all over the floor.
I identified all of it and found out that there were a lot of mythical and legendary rank skill scrolls in it.
There were also a few Deity rank skill scrolls so I stored all of them inside my system inventory including the other artifacts and skill scrolls.
As I had expected, my greed had taken over me so I can't control it and keep my composure after witnessing several skill scrolls and artifacts that were simply lying on the floor.
I knew that Mathew wouldn't mind that much even if I took all of it as long as I wouldn't touch any of the skill scrolls and artifacts that he had placed on the table.
Mathew might have regarded the skill scrolls and artifacts on the ground as garbage and useless to him so I would be the one to dispose of them.
After all, none of my teammates except me had dared to enter Mathew's room to ask him for artifacts unless it was an emergency.
I had obtained many skill scrolls and artifacts from Mathew's room so I left a few of them on the floor to make it less rude that I had stolen his stolen treasures.
I checked Mathew's condition and it seemed that he was fine even though he suffered from the backslash of the [Universal Steal] skill.
Even if Mathew wasn't at his peak condition, I would still heal him using my skills to return the favor of obtaining his stolen treasures without his permission.
After that was finished, I went to the door and went out of Mathew's room.
I closed Mathew's door, walked in the hallway to head towards the stairs, and descended on the stairs towards the first floor.
The sermon of the priest was still not finished and the church's followers were praying to the Gods.
I didn't bother their sermon as I quickly went towards the entrance of the Holy Church without alerting the priest and the church's followers.
I exited the Holy Church and headed towards the forest that was behind where the Holy Church was located at.
I entered the forest, ran at full speed, and headed towards the Monster's Abode.
As I was currently running in the forest while passing from tree to tree while avoiding pointless battles against weak monsters, I was now only a few kilometers away from reaching Alex and the other junior heroes' current location.
A few minutes had passed and I successfully avoided some level 10,000 monsters and above since they weren't a worthy opponent for me to face against.
Also, it would waste my time in dealing with the monsters in the Monster's Abode unless the monster would be a few levels stronger than an archdemon.
I covered the needed distance to arrive where Alex and the other junior heroes were at.
Aerin and the other heroes were also up in the sky, observing the actions of the junior heroes while checking if the junior heroes were fine.
I also noticed from Zale's expression that he envied the junior heroes and his mouth had drool coming out of his mouth.
I checked the situation of Alex and the other junior heroes which made me knew why Zale had that look on his face.
It was because those junior heroes had decided to use the flesh of the level 4000 water wyvern for barbecue.
Since Zale was a foodie such as me considering that I had a cheat skill that made me stronger by absorbing nutrients from beings' flesh, surely he would envy the junior heroes since they had a 25-meter long water wyvern for barbecue.
I might as well join them in eating the water wyvern meat barbecue while handing out their skill scroll and artifact reward in the process.
I met up with my teammates and greeted them.
After that, I opened a hole in the protective array as an entrance and entered it.
I descended from the sky into the ground and landed on the ground without receiving any damage to my body.
Alex and the junior heroes had noticed my descent so they looked at me as if they had already guessed that I'm going to arrive after they killed the level 4000 water wyvern.
"Congratulations to the six of you for defeating the level 4000 water wyvern even though one of you didn't do anything! Nevertheless, I'm still going to reward you with one mythical rank skill scroll and one legendary rank artifact no matter how big your contribution is!"
I announced and faced the junior heroes while using my mana to amplify the volume of my voice.
My voice that had mana in it caused a shock wave of mana that traveled inside the protective array while the junior heroes had fallen on their knees because the mana that I had exuded was too much for the junior heroes to deal with.
My voice reverberated inside the protective array with my mana which caused the junior heroes to close their ears using their hands to protect their ears from the sound while trying to withstand the pressure of my mana.
I used my mana to dispel the mana that I had exuded before, helped the junior heroes to stand up while transferring my mana towards them to help them recover from the shock that my mana had caused.
I handed the skill scrolls and artifacts to the junior heroes and the junior heroes thanked me.
"Now that you have completed the task that I had given you, it's time to celebrate and be merry!"
