Chapter 10
C10 – Two Hundred and Ten Pieces of Medium Grade Spirit Stone
“What’s all the fuss about? It looks like you still need to work on your mental toughness!” A middle-aged man strolled out with an air of nonchalance.
He was a bona fide Alchemist, skilled in crafting medium-grade Qi Refining Pills, a practitioner within the esteemed realm of Pill Masters.
“What?” Steward Li’s reaction was even louder than the maid’s when he spotted the pill in her grasp, exclaiming, “A top-grade Qi Gathering Pill!”
“Why are you just holding it in your hand? Haven’t I told you countless times that pills are delicate treasures, to be kept in fine Jade Bottles?” Steward Li produced a Jade Bottle from his robes and carefully transferred the seventh-grade Qi Gathering Pill inside.
“Did you just say a guest is looking to sell pills?”
“Yes,” the maid confirmed with a nod. “These two individuals here brought them in. They’re the ones looking to sell.”
“These exquisite pills came from these two youngsters?” Steward Li realized his tone was a bit rude and quickly added,
“Guests, are you intending to sell these pills?”
“Of course, we’re selling them. Why else would we have you appraise them?” Yun Tiantian replied with a hint of pride, feeling quite esteemed by the deference shown by the usually unapproachable steward of Echoes of Despair.
“May I inquire where you acquired such valuable pills?” Steward Li asked, his smile tinged with a sycophantic edge.
Yun Haoyan let out a cold snort, his expression chilling as he retorted,
“What’s this? Does Echoes of Despair pry into the origins of pills now? You can see they’ve just been refined. Are you suggesting they’re of dubious provenance?”
“Absolutely not!” Steward Li quickly gestured in denial, apologizing, “Young man, I didn’t mean to offend. The pills are simply so precious that I spoke out of turn.”
“Echoes of Despair has no such policy. Please be assured, guests.”
“Brother, let it go. You know how isolated Silkbarrow is; high-grade pills are a rarity here. It’s only natural for Steward Li to be curious,” Yun Tiantian said softly, gently pulling on her brother’s arm.
Upon hearing his sister’s words, Yun Haoyan’s mood visibly brightened. He gestured dismissively and spoke up:
“Steward Qi, let’s talk numbers. For these twenty pills, how many Spirit Stones are we looking at?”
“Thank you for your understanding,” Steward Qi paused briefly before responding. “How about this? Given the rarity of these twenty pills, I’ll offer you the top price by the book—two hundred and ten medium-grade Spirit Stones. Does that work for you?”
Yun Haoyan gave a nod of approval; the price was quite reasonable.
Clearly, Steward Qi was offering such a generous sum in hopes of currying favor with him.
“Alright, it’s settled then!” With a final wave of his hand, Yun Haoyan declared.
To him, these pills were trivial; he could produce them with ease. Spirit Stones were as insignificant to him as dirt.
Since ascending to the rank of Pill Saint, he had never once experienced a shortage of Spirit Stones.
What’s more, he was not just any Pill Saint, but a Pill God endowed with a divine gift.
He could, if he so chose, craft hundreds of these pills in a single day, and they would be far superior to these seventh-grade trifles.
For Yun Haoyan, the God of Pills, such pills were mere rubbish.
“Are you not fetching the Spirit Stones for our guest?” Steward Qi, seeing the maidservant standing there, agape, chided her softly.
Snapped out of her daze by the substantial transaction, the maidservant quickly scurried into the back room.
