The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 127: 127:Meeting Home Minister

Evan almost bit his lips, struggling to suppress a heavy gasp of shock while trying to maintain his furrowed expression.

Fucking Hell!

The person who had appeared was none other than Indra's Home Minister, Amit Sharma.

A very uncanny and eerie feeling washed over Evan and if possible, he really wanted to escape from the room.

Out of all the politicians, this guy was the one Evan despised the most for his double standards and two-faced speech. In fact, in Evan's view, few out there were several thousand times more capable than this person in handling affairs, however, when it comes to crookedness, this guy was at the top.

He was the peak…

If Evan had been informed that his meeting was with this pot-bellied bald minister, he would have never agreed to it.

However, now that he was already here, there was escaping.

Forcing out a fake smile on his lips, Evan stepped forward and gave a bow to show respect for the elderly, "Hello Sir, it's nice to meet you."

Amit Sharma approached with an affable smile, his eyes gleaming with an unsettling warmth that made Evan's skin crawl. The Home Minister's pot-bellied figure and bald head gave him an air of disheveled authority contrasted sharply with the ingratiating demeanor he was displaying.

"Evan!" Amit exclaimed, patting the young man on the back with surprising familiarity. "It's such a pleasure to finally meet you in person!"

The gesture was overly warm, almost patronizing, as he pulled Evan into an unexpected embrace.

Evan's discomfort was palpable, nonetheless, he managed to mask it behind a forced smile.

After releasing him, Amit stepped back, still radiating a friendly, though insincere, smile. "How are you doing, Evan? I trust everything is well?" His voice dripped with false concern.

Evan nodded, trying to maintain his composure. "I'm doing well, thank you."

"That's wonderful to hear," Amit said, leaning forward slightly as though sharing a confidential remark. "And how's everything going in your life? Any difficulties I should know about?"

Evan barely concealed his irritation, nodding vaguely and replied curtly, "Just the usual challenges."

Amit's smile widened. "Ah, challenges, yes. They're what keep us sharp. Now, let's get down to business, shall we?"

He then gestured for one of his staff members, who promptly handed him over a file. Amit extended it to Evan with a flourish.

Evan accepted the file, his brows knitting together as he flipped through the pages that detailed various attacks on Next Gen Innovations. Each report was crafted meticulously.

It was an incident before Aurora took charge, so Evan honestly didn't know many details.

'I see, it seems our cybersecurity isn't as bad as it seems when people mock Indra's infrastructure. They have managed to monitor the things we have been doing quite well.'

As expected, when it came to spying, every country excelled in that aspect.

Amit leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "So, how have you been defending against these attacks?"

Evan's expression hardened as he met Amit's gaze. "We've implemented a series of advanced countermeasures and security protocols."

Amit's eyes sparkled with feigned enthusiasm. "Excellent, excellent. But I must ask why not share this technology with the government? It could be invaluable to our national security."

Evan's brow arched. "And what would I gain in return?"

Amit chuckled, a sound that seemed to lack genuine amusement. "What could you possibly want more than the chance to serve the nation? Not many people get this opportunity."

The words were meant to be a placating gesture, but to Evan, they felt like a veiled threat—a reminder that since you have such a thing just hand it over to us.

Evan leaned back slightly, with his eyes narrowing as he carefully weighed his response.

"If I hand over the technology, I'm certain other countries would catch wind of it and try to trace it back to me. That would put me in an even more precarious position. In such cases, would the government be able to offer protection against these threats?"

Amit's smile remained, but his eyes grew colder. "There won't be any such situation. We maintain the highest level of confidentiality, and nothing will come to light. You have my assurance that no one will know about this."

'Like in hell, I would believe in you.'

Security was the greatest scam here.

If it was a threat to the minister or politics, there was no doubt that the security focus would really do the work—but would they spare such security for him, a random nobody?

Once they got what they wanted, they might not favour him anymore.

Amit's tone took on a sharper edge, "Evan, do you really want to grow in Indra? I'm still overlooking the fact that you played against our party member Randall. Not only am I willing to forgive you for that, but I'm also offering you a chance to join our party and reap the benefits that come with it."

"You have great prospects, Evan, but you're still young and immature so think carefully. It's good to have political connections."

Evan wasn't entirely convinced, but the concern was still evident. His eyes flickered with suspicion as he considered the implications. Sensing Evan's deep unease, Amit decided it was time to reveal his true intentions.

Amit's words were laced with a thinly veiled threat, his smile now a predatory grin. The offer was not just a political maneuver but also a way to ensure Evan's cooperation under the guise of an opportunity.

The implications were clear: align with him and secure your future, or face the repercussions of defiance.

Evan took a moment to think about it and didn't dare to be hasty. He was sure that the other party wouldn't resort to killing or kidnapping him, but Evan raised his guard. Everything here was being monitored by Aurora through the watch.

If this guy dared to hurt a single speck of his hair, Aurora was going to make sure that the next day, this man would be doomed along with the whole country.

This time, Aurora won't hold back and would unleash with full capability that was enough to bring down a nation to its knees, despite the risk of exposure.

This was what gave Evan confidence. Previously, he lacked the power when he was talking to Steve, but the situation has changed drastically since then.

With a heavy breath, Evan spoke, "I won't be joining the party, but I will help you in managing the cyber defense and also give your party a donation. However, I also need support from the government and I have some other conditions."
