Chapter 2 The Turning Point
Ten years later after the skill activation.
"When I was 17 years old and still in high school I asked myself - "What do I want to do with my life?" - I could put in the effort and become rich and successful or lazy and poor. Many people have talents and hidden potential that could take them to the top, but they easily give it up just because they are too lazy."
"So what I'm saying is, do you want to live in the same luxury as I do? Or meaby you want your children to be carefree from birth? Did you ever think that your success TODAY could be the beginning of your sweet life tomorrow? You can help yourself climb to the top of life! You can even become the founders of a great company like mine! You're the blacksmith of your own fate.
Looking at the cover of Forbes, Victor sighed. Not so long ago he was just a regular scum gambler who had lost all his money, his family, and his home. And now everything has changed.
The gods had given him a second chance at life, and Victor didn't want to miss it; the first thing he did was to quit gambling and immersed himself in his studies. He ignored all his surroundings, to the point that he forgot to spend time with his family at all.
He wanted to become the successful man he had always dreamed of becoming and for which he committed suicide. And all his efforts were fully justified. Many years later, Victor not only became a very successful man but also a rich man, so rich that his fortune could not be spent in several lifetimes.
He had wealth, fame and success. A solid family, and even though he could have fun with a bunch of different women, there was only one girl that he truly loved and cared for. Everything was picture perfect, like a dream from which it was impossible to wake up.
Until he heard three words that shattered his peaceful existence.
"We have to break up..."
At that moment, the girl he loved and for whom he could have easily spat even on his wealth suddenly decided to leave him and, without even trying to justify herself, said she had been sleeping with another man for a long time.
The gods had given him everything but happiness, which made Victor feel as if he had returned to his past life. But it didn't stop there, the girl he still loved turned out to be a nasty whore.
In addition to the fact that she suddenly left Victor, she took his entire fortune, down to the last drop, leaving him a poor, unneeded man. Because the paperwork was in her name, it could not be undone.
Victor never thought that the girl could leave him, because their relationship began in the university and lasted more than ten years, but now he realized that all this time she was using him for personal gain.
"It was all a lie," Victor muttered while looking in the mirror, trying to cope with the accumulated stress. It was the only habit he had not abandoned from his past life that could bring him back to his sane state of mind.
But it didn't help at all, it only got worse with each passing day, all the hypocritical smiles of his friends and family suddenly no longer hiding themselves. And eventually everyone abandoned him, leaving him to crumble in misery.
Of course, Victor did not want to give up his life for a single whore and tried to get back on his feet again using his intellect and the knowledge he had accumulated, but all proved unsuccessful, as if some invisible hand from the shadows was manipulating his life as if it were some kind of game.
All attempts to get a job or start a new business ended miserably.
One year later. Las Vegas casinos.
"Let's go, double it!"
A young man screamed, you could tell by his appearance that his life had broken him down, his hair was disheveled, his eyes were red from stress or lack of sleep, and all his clothes were in rags. It was unclear how he had been allowed into the casino at all, for he looked like a common homeless man.
Of course that man was Victor, he was back to his old self, not caring about anything else anymore, he had already fully accepted the fact that his second life would end like the first one, in total failure.
If his first life ended due to his laziness, his second life went to hell just because of one girl who betrayed him and took away everything precious to him.
Victor tensed while looking at the dealer, he bet almost all of his savings he still had.
The dealer whose name was Diller did not pay attention to Victor, because it was not the first time he had seen him, and he knew his behavior and could even predict that by the end of the day this man would be without a single coin in his pockets.
"Let it be black...black...black!" Victor muttered as if praying to God.
Diller grinned and deftly turned over the map.
"Red!"
"Fuck!" - Throwing all the chips off the table Victor shouted.
Before the guards could even approach, the dealer gestured not to disturb him; he knew a little about Victor, though he was a complete gambler, he was not a bad man, just his life turned upside down. In a bad way of course.
No longer attempting to get back what he lost, Victor walked out of the casino while smoking a cigarette.
Looking through the contacts on his phone, Victor briefly stopped at his father, but soon changed his mind about calling him and trying to borrow some money, since he already knew what kind of reaction such a conversation would produce.
His father would just yell at him that he's useless and needs to pull himself together and then drop the call.
"And before, when I was rich, my parents were always close by, begging every time for a penny in their pocket," grinned Victor.
He knew his parents had always been like that in both his first and second life, when he was wealthy they treated him as befits a family, but once he had no money left they pretended like he never existed.
They could have gone to a psychiatrist and tried to cure Victor's illness, but they just didn't want to spend any amount on Victor justifying themselves like it was something they couldn't afford.
It was not an option to call a cab because he had no money anyway, so Victor walked on his own feet to his apartment, on the way he noticed a lot of ads, until his eyes were drawn to one of them.
"Bitch! What a bitch you are!" - He cursed when he saw his ex-girlfriend, who had stolen all his money, on one of them.
It was the announcement of her marriage, to the man she had cheated on him with earlier, having. He remembered him well; of course such a thing could not be forgotten.
"Okay, I'll give you a huge congratulation gift, my dear ex-girlfriend."
