Chapter 366 Here It Comes
Jake found himself in a bind. He didn't know if he had been caught in an illusion or if it was the other members of his party. Moreover, the robotic archer was about to attack… or was that an illusion as well? He really got lucky since he only found an enemy that could do that in such a situation. In any case, that was certainly a situation that he had never expected to experience. He had to hurry up and make his choice before things get worse...
Before things could get out of hand, Jake took some drastic measures and then hit then touched the blade of his sword. The weapon was much sharper than before, so some blood began to fall from it, and the pain made Jake's eyesight get cloudy again. If that wasn't enough, then Jake only had one extra option. He made the tip of his sword pierce his stomach a bit.
"What the hell are you doing?" Lana asked.
Jake didn't have time to answer since he saw the robotic archer firing another arrow at him. When the enemy fired the arrow, Jake enhanced his left fist with the dark flames and then punched the projectile. It hurt quite a bit during the impact, but he managed to stop the arrow…
"Ouch… that one hurt," Jake said while moving his hand upside down.
"Care to explain what just happened?" Lana asked while frowning.
"He was put under an illusion, and he used his sword to disrupt the mana of the spell," Virigilius explained. "It seemed that it was also a spell that made his notion of time differ from reality, so the enemy was trying to make him panic and attack you all."
"Sorry, I should have known and used buffs to increase your willpower," Lana said.
"It wouldn't have worked. The enemy focused on Jake," Virgilius explained. "All of her power was stopped when she tried to control Frederick's group. Her powers increased by six or so, to say. I have analyzed the data on her abilities when I give the order. Use a thunder arrow on his back, Louise."
"Attacking an ally will make our people confused here…" Louise said while hesitating.
"Hey, hey… the best idea that you have is to give the order to attack your commander from behind?" Jake asked while frowning. "Well, we don't have time to discuss this right now."
The robotic archer was nocking another arrow, and Jake could feel that he wasn't going to release it as soon as possible. He would charge it with a Power Shot… Jake readied himself, and then he felt his vision get cloudy again.
"Now!" Virgilius said.
"Urghh… " Jake groaned in pain.
"Sorry, Jake…" Louise said.
"... How long until you finish that?" Jake asked.
"Twenty more seconds…" Louise replied while looking at the twenty meters wide fireball above her.
Jake didn't want to wait anymore, he wanted to smash the faces of the enemies, but then he saw the robotic archer pointing its bow toward the fireball… it would be catastrophic if that exploded right above them.
The enemy unleashed the arrow, and Jake jumped to smash the projectile. Even without his footing, Jake swung his sword with all his might in order to repel the attack. He didn't succeed in sending the arrow right back at them, but he stopped the projectile enough to grab it in the air and then fired it right back at that group. The dark armored axe man stepped forward and smashed the arrow on the ground.
"This is getting annoying…" Jake said.
The robotic archer and the woman of the illusions repeated the same attacks several times, and when Jake was finally about to let his anger explode, Louise finished her preparations. Jake pierced his sword on the ground and crossed his arms, challenging the archer to destroy that. A thick wall of dark flames appeared in front of the fireball and then began to envelop it… still, instead of moving to attack, the Archer stepped back and the axeman stepped forward.
"They have balls for brains, I guess…" Jake said. "Do it."
Louise nodded and then fired the dark red fireball. The axeman turned his axe to the side and then used the head like a shield to stop the attack. Instead of instantly being blown away, he stopped the attacks, and his allies only took a few steps backward each second…
"Unbelievable," Lana said with her mouth hanging open.
Jake imagined that the enemies would come up with some plan to counter that combination of attacks as well, but he didn't think that it would be so simple… Regardless, while looking at the axeman blocking the projectile, Jake saw the fireball slowly being moved upward.
"Well, I guess that is just that… prepare yourselves, everyone," Jake said.
Jake couldn't let that attack fail. Louise was well-known among the people on the backline, to the point that only a few successful attempts of her attacks raised the morale of everyone. That was also a problem since it would be a shock when someone so famous failed…
Although he had the idea of making the fireball explode with the help of his dark flames, Jake still knew that the attack wouldn't press forward with only that much… he would need to do more to wipe out those three instantly. That would raise the group's morale even more…
Jake raised his sword, and all of the energy inside the weapon began to glow… he felt like it was time to say something stupid, but he couldn't since people were struggling right behind him.
"Meh, I don't care. I am already showing a lot of secrets to make sure that they won't die too fast," Jake said. "Here it comes, assholes… ex… caliba!"
All of the mana inside the weapon was unleashed toward the fireball, and when the skills collided, a massive explosion that pushed backward, everyone and everything in a five -kilometers radius was pushed away to the distance…
