Chapter 408 Stress.
Chapter 408 Stress.
Soldiers in dense numbers poured outside the royal estate, all rushing toward the prison behind the estates.
With countless measures set in place to alert of intruders and harsh disciplinary actions for the prisoners, there had never been any incidents in this prison.
After all, it was right behind the royal estates, the soldiers made sure there were never any problems with security and management. Unfortunately for them, someone like Ozul was out of their expectations when they carefully prepared the prison security.
The soldiers only realized the seriousness of the situation when they felt the oppressive aura of an Origin Realm cultivator.
Though weak, they all knew they couldn't stop that man who rushed out of the prison in an instant.
That man Ozul freed knew himself that he couldn't wait inside the prison or throw a tantrum there. He was weakened considerably while he starved in the deepest cell, so if any Origin cultivator confronted him, he would die without putting up a fight.
He could only flee as fast as he could to get an advantage over his pursuers.
At the same time, the other prisoners also fled in all directions. Only a small portion of them, who had lost their minds to the utter chaos, did start beating down the hapless guards.
While the backyard of the royal estate plunged into utter chaos, Ozul had already entered the Palace.
The man he had wrapped with the Purity knew better than to make a sound as around in the shadows together with Ozul.
'I thought he would at least mutter a voice of doubt.' For that reason, he had tightened 08:46
the Purity around his mouth.
Ozul knew better than to enter any corridors in which they might other people.
But even when such an unavoidable situation occurred, he blended in within the shadows, avoiding any interaction.
The man didn't know that he was going to be used as bait, but he also didn't know what to make of this situation.
He had no friends who would do this for him, and it also didn't make any sense that someone would break into that prison just for him.
But what could he do? Just a small pressure on the collar around his neck and his head would be sent flying.
'That is surprising,' Ozul thought while gliding from the ceiling and into the next corridor.
'I thought he would at least mutter a voice of doubt.' For that reason, he had tightened the Purity around his mouth.
Even if that man were to scream till death here, no air would come out of his mouth.
'There it is,' Ozul thought as he turned to the corridor, at the end of which stood a door that also reached the 20-meter ceiling.
Behind that door, however, he could sense the presence of Hamel.
Ozul frowned, 'He was never in her room before at this time... They acted quicker than I anticipated.'
Shaking his head with a sigh, he could only improvise.
He wanted to end it before anyone could react to the situation in the prison, but he underestimated how much the princess was treasured.
'I will have to act quickly...'
All of this would have to be done in a matter of seconds because the king wouldn't waste a minute before rushing in here.
The corridor itself was empty, but Sir Hamel stood directly with his back against the door on the other side.
Bringing the man wrapped in Purity in front of the door, Ozul himself stayed hidden in the shadows above.
The man was still wrapped like a present as the Purity moved inside and removed the explosive collar, containing the explosion with ease.
Surprised, the man couldn't contain himself any longer as he struggled to unwrap himself and spoke, "Hey!"
His questions weren't met with answers, but the Purity slowly disintegrated around him, disappearing into thin air.
The man was stunned on the spot; he didn't know where he was and the man who had brought him here was nowhere to be seen!
In front of him was a giant door and behind him was a long corridor with nothing but flickering shadows.
The door suddenly opened and before he could register what was happening, a giant sword came crashing down on him.
No words were spoken, and there was no time to think.
The man, although an Origin cultivator as well, couldn't dodge that strike in his weakened state.
He instinctively closed his eyes, thinking that his small life had come to an end just when there was a small hope to start anew.
But just at the decisive moment, a clanking sound resounded in the empty corridor as the silver sword was deflected.
*Khu!*
Hearing the familiar sound of someone spitting blood, the man opened his eyes only to gaze upon the sight of a man in silver armor, but with a fist-sized hole right in the middle of his chest.
No one.
There was no one in the corridor!
"H-hey... Show yourself! Where am I?!" the man shouted as anxiety and trepidation began crashing down on him.
*Thud!*
Sir Hamel's body hit the ground, as the man thought of countless thoughts.
Where was he? Who was that man who brought him here? Why was a knight at the Origin Realm dying in front of him? And once again, just where the heck was he?!
But as if he was just a puppet forced to act on a written script he had never seen before, countless traces of Spiritual Essence sped toward him from behind.
Having no other choice, the man ran into the room, hoping there would be an exit from there.
The darkly lit room couldn't hide the expensive ornaments around the room.
The poor man didn't have time to realize it was a bedroom before the image of a girl with a slit throat etched into his mind.
"Fuck!-"
He had seen her. She was the princess of this kingdom!
"I am in the palace!"
He realized everything too late. Not that he could leave even if he was told everything from
the start.
One by one, everything started to make sense in his mind.
"You Bastard!!!" He was set up; used as a sacrifice!
His curses fell on deaf ears as he felt multiple Origin Realm cultivators speeding toward his direction.
But worst of all was the suffocating pressure that pressed down on him just as he was about to run away!
Suddenly his throat was grabbed and he was thrown aside like a rag doll.
"My Princess!!" the figure who had tossed the man aside shouted with a trembling voice; he had already realized the girl laying on the bed was dead.
One by one all of the Origin cultivators arrived outside the room in under a few minutes.
All of them worry about their future. Inside the room were two dead bodies and the king who silently mourned the death of his daughter.
Everyone was too late to respond.
Sir Hamel was sent there the moment they relieved the news about the prison break, but even he was killed without much of being able to put up any struggle.
The king arrived right after the princess was killed and he killed the supposed assassin in rage.
...
So much happened in a matter of seconds that no one knew what to do. No one could wrap their heads around the situation.
By that time, Ozul had already left the palace as quietly as he had come in.
He used the chaos to his advantage again as he left in a hurry.
Coming under the night sky, Ozul finally sighed a breath of relief, 'Finally...'
Everything had to be done by the second for all of the events to align. If someone other than him were to be put into that situation, they wouldn't have even been able to calm their nerves.
But Ozul was different; whenever he thought about death, he didn't feel anything.
To him, what was the worst that could happen? Death? That didn't sound so bad.
After coming out of the palace, he relaxed as he took a casual stroll toward his room, watching platoons of soldiers rush in all directions.
The tensions around the whole estate felt as if the Kingdom was at war.
Five minutes later, he entered the room where everyone was still present, even Rose.
He looked at her with a certain glint in his dark and unpolished eyes. It was already time for her to play her role in all of this.
He went to his bed and slept peacefully that night.
Raven, Blaze, Zier, and Kumaou kept wondering what the commotion outside was all about, but none of the soldiers came to call them, so they stayed in the dark until the next morning.
When the news about the princess' death spread around the palace, the entire estate was put in lockdown.
"What is happening outside?" Rose muttered curiously, but no one replied to her.
At this point, she was almost bullied as no one in that room was willing to act friendly toward her except for sometimes Zier, who couldn't help himself from dispelling the awkward situation.
But right now, even he didn't reply to her knowing what might have transpired.
"They are making such a ruckus, do you know what happened, boy?" Kumaou questioned while squinting his eyes.
Though Ozul shrugged his shoulders before dropping onto the bed, hugging the slumbering ball of abyss lying on the bed.
'That was a little stressful,' he admitted before making himself comfortable.
He had come a long way. From not being able to understand emotions at all to feeling stress and comfort in certain situations.
'I am being myself, aren't I?...'
