Chapter 090
There was a big stage that was present just outside the auditorium of the convention. A lot of people gathered there as it was announced that a band was going to perform a song called ‘Revolution’.
A lot of people were unaware of Dreamers or ‘Revolution’ but those who have heard of it dragged their friends to hear it. Many also came due to being curious.
It had happened because the convention hadn’t promoted them a lot. There were posters of their performance but most hadn’t come to the convention to just listen to them.
Some were just waiting to know what type of performance was going to happen while others were just focusing on their phones.
“What’s going on?”
“Some band is going to perform.”
“I never heard of them.”
“Dreamers? I think I listened to their song somewhere. A lot of people in the anime community are recommending it these days.”
“Is this really the title track of [Attack for Freedom]?”
Like that, they also talked among themselves. Standing behind the stage, Aiden looked at the people who were gathering to watch them perform.
“How many people do you think will gather?” Jackson, who was holding a drumstick in his hand said.
“Around 2000 people could be stored here. You can expect around that. More and more people are coming every minute.”
“That’s good. A lot more than our other shows.”
“Yeah, let’s hope it goes well.”
As they talked about them, a female host stood on the stage to announce the start of the performance.
“I hope you all are having fun at the New York anime con.”
At her words, a huge cheer went out. She smiled at the audience and then opened her mouth again.
“Now, we have something exciting for you today. A very talented band ‘Dreamers’ is going to sing their single ‘Revolution’ here today! I’m pretty sure some of you might have heard of the song.”.
Some people in the crowd nodded at her words as she continued.
“It’s the official English title track for the famous anime [Attack for Freedom]. Please give a huge cheer for the band ‘Dreamers’!”
As her introduction ended, Aiden and his band climbed up to the stage. Some people in the crowd recognised him while others just anticipated the performance.
Their instruments were already set up, so they started their performance without wasting any second.
“One two three… let’s go!”
The whole auditorium became silent as Aiden started the song with the sound of his electric guitar. It was as if it started as a whisper but in a matter of seconds, the sound filled with the auditorium.
Drums and keyboard soon harmonised as sparks of silver light began to come out of the instruments.
Glancing at the crowd who was staring at him, he started the first verse. Loud, unrestrained and full of power, like he was singing a war song.
🎙
“I am standing at the back of the line.”
“Waiting for the right time.”
“I have been bruised, I have been scraped, fire is running in my veins.”
“My legs binded by chains as atrocities reigns.”
🎙
As soon as the first verse began, silver light left his body like a sonic wave. The people who were not focusing on the song and were talking to their friends couldn’t help but focus on Aiden.
It was the same for those who were busy with their phones. Some people even started recording them.
As the song crossed the 30 second mark, Emily’s keyboard part became necessary and she skillfully played out the part. The soft melody coming out of her instrument mixed with the hard ones from the guitar and drums.
Even though they were completely different, they mixed together well.
🎙
“Like those who came before you, your crown is going to fall.”
“No matter how tall are the walls.”
“No, I’m not the chosen one, I just have a dream to keep running.”
“I know I will fall, but I will move until I turn to nothing.”
🎙
This part was always difficult for Aiden as it needed him to express a lot of emotions. In his mind, he was able to picture a boy looking at the figure of a king.
What separated them were walls but the boy was ready to break down those walls to reach the king and that’s what Aiden tried to express. Strong, resolute emotions of conviction.
It seemed to work too as everyone in the auditorium looked in trance. They had not expected the band to be this but now they were becoming fully immersed in their music.
Suddenly, the tempo of the guitar and bass became slow as the pre chorus approached.
The pre chorus part was almost as if it was a whisper in the ear. A warning that had been given — One would think of it like that after hearing it.
🎙
“The scent of blood is in the air.”
“Animals are hiding in their lair.”
“Aware of the incoming nightmare.”
🎙
Aiden sang the part really slowly and weakly but there was something in his voice that made people anticipate what was coming next.
After the pre chorus ended, the tempo of the song again got picked up as all the instruments came together to make a song that could truly make your heart beat more.
The sound of Jackson’s drums, Aiden’s guitar, the powerful bass of Cameron and in the background, there was Emily with her keyboard.
All this created an amazing sound that was boosted by the voice of Aiden.
🎙
“I’m the warrior with a heart of steel.”
“You don’t know my pain, you don’t know how I feel.”
“But I’m coming. Oh, I’m coming.”
“The drums are beating, things are heating.”
“When there’s no solution, there’s always gonna be a revolution… a revolution.”
🎙
Aiden sang the chorus with as much power as he could generate and the silver light began to crack in the air due to the vibrations it was feeling.
It was almost like he was about to break into the next level.
After the chorus, even Cameron joined him as a vocalist and at this point, the audience was way past being entranced and were already going wild.
Hooting and cheering was coming from every corner in the auditorium and many people who weren’t there from the beginning were now joining in.
Seeing this, Aiden felt like this was proof that the song was good enough to make people go crazy, make them feel like their blood was boiling.
🎙
“I have fought this war since the day I was born.”
“No matter even if I’m alone.”
“The blood in my mouth just makes the pain sweeter.”
“Push me down, lift me up, I’m still a believer.”
“Oh, I’m just a believer.”
🎙
As Cameron started singing with him, both of their voices mixed together and there was a sensation in the silver light as it got more powerful, making people feel more and more emotions.
From this point, Aiden felt like he had already lost himself in the music and the atmosphere. His mind had gone blank and he was feeling the music in the air and singing along to it.
🎙
The audience started singing with them at this point, especially the last part of the chorus. Shouts of ‘Revolution’ were in the air as they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
‘Now, the end of the song.’
Aiden thought in his mind and took a deep breath. He was panting a little but as he was only at the last part of the song, he was pushing on.
Slowly, the music became a bit calmer. Like it was a youthful king before and now an old one. The core was the same but even the audience was able to feel like the song was ending.
Both Cameron and Aiden slowly held the mic and sang.
🎙
“Like those who came before you, your crown is going to fall.”
“No matter how tall are the walls.”
“No, I’m not the chosen one, I just have a dream to keep running.”
“I know I will fall, but I will move until I turn to nothing… nothing… nothing.”
🎙
The song ended like that. A weak end to a powerful song. Aiden gave a bright smile to the audience who were cheering for the whole band.
He glanced at his bandmates. They all look exhausted but happy. Their plan was to give out a performance that would make people feel excited and overwhelmed and they have achieved it.
Shouts of ‘Encore’ and ‘Once more’ suddenly filled the auditorium. Aiden was about to give the signal to start the song again when in the corner of his eye, he suddenly saw someone running up the stage.
At first, he thought that it was just an excited fan but he soon realised that it was the same guy who had tried to force his way with Emily. He also noticed something sharp in his hand.
His senses rose suddenly and he ran towards the black haired guy without thinking of anything. Cameron who was standing beside him shouted seeing him rushing suddenly but it was already too late.
It all happened in a split second as Aiden jumped on the black haired guy and both of them fell off the stage.
He felt something sharp in his chest as he lost subconsciousness.
A commotion soon rang out after that.
