Chapter 50: Defending the Gravekeeper

Chapter 50: Defending the Gravekeeper

The ghost house was completely dark and I couldn't see anything inside of it at all.

I slightly tilted my head and I felt a black fireball slamming into my chest, knocking my entire body backwards.  Looking up, I saw a necromancer being covered in a dark robe standing there, who was the purpose of this trip!

[Necromancer Ajiesi] (Bronze Grade Boss)

Level: ????

Magic Attack: ????

Defense: ????

HP: ????

A series of question marks that made people speechless, but it was lucky that it was only a Bronze Grade Boss, which meant that I still had a chance to win!

The necromancer's black fireball took 200 HP from me which isn't that much, after all, an archer had a strong magic defense.  If it was a berserker or sword warrior, then it would have been more painful.

I immediately moved back while calculating the distance from the necromancer.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that the necromancer's attack range was 15 yards while mine was 20 yards!

After discovering this fact, I immediately began to get to work.  I started off with an ice arrow and then drank a red potion.  I continued to move back while launching fire arrows at the necromancer!

The fire arrow whistled forward and slammed into the necromancer's chest.  I just saw him shake before a "1268" damage figure appeared above his head!

"Damn!"

Even I was surprised by this.  After obtaining this Gold Grade Star Chasing Bow, my damage had exploded.  Just a single attack was enough to take off a small portion of the boss' HP!

I took another two steps back and continued to attack, but the necromancer slowed down by my ice arrow could only slowly chase after me.  Like this, every time I attacked three times, it would only be able to attack me once.  Moreover, I continued to use health potions which allowed me to go all out against him!

I was coming close to fainting and my entire person was sleepy.  I just wanted to lie down on a bed!

Without knowing how long I was glared at, I continued to chug down health potions.  The necromancer in front of me was almost out of HP under the onslaught of the Star Chasing Bow!

At this moment, with a sudden "ding dong" sound, a system prompt sounded: Your friend Last Year's Summer has logged on!

As I expected, Summer immediately sent me a message and asked in a curious voice, "Big brother Bookworm, why haven't you slept yet?"

I was speechless as I replied, "I'm going to sleep soon.  Summer, why are you up so early?"

Summer immediately replied, "I drank too much water last night and after getting up to pee, I didn't feel sleepy.  So I just got up to level!"

When her message came, I had already finished killing the Bronze Grade necromancer Boss!

"Ding~!"

System Notification: Congratulations, you have killed Necromancer Ajiesi.  You have gained 250000 experience points and 600 prestige!

I immediately went forward and pulled apart the necromancer's robe.  I took out a shining dagger and closed my eyes as I took out the necromancer's rotting heart, directly throwing it in my inventory.  Then I looked at the things it dropped and I found that there was only 75 gold coins!

I was a little disappointed, but at least there was a lot of experience points.  If I turned in the quest, I would reach around 50% of level 38!

So I immediately tidied up and quickly ran towards the gravekeeper.

When I pulled out the necromancer's heart, this continuous three stage quest could finally be considered complete!

The gravekeeper took the necromancer's heart and put it together with the Butterfly Orchids and skeleton rib bones, processing it bit before placing it on his leg turned green from the poison.  I suddenly saw his skin and flesh turn back to a normal red colour!

After half a minute, the gravekeeper unexpectedly stood up.  He said in a grateful manner to me, "Brave young man, the power of light is always with you, protecting you as you destroy the evils from hell!"

"Ding~!"

System notification: You have completed the quest [Sorcerer's Heart].  You have gained 350000 experience points, 100 gold coins, and 400 prestige.  You have obtained the quest item [Defending the Gravekeeper]!

There was finally a piece of equipment!

I was excited as I quickly took out the ring from my inventory, looking at this small blue ring release a faint glow.

[Defending the Gravekeeper] (Silver Equipment - Ring)

Strength: +12

Vitality: +10

Additional State: Wearing this will increase critical chance by 3%

Required Level: 35

I couldn't help breaking out in laughter.  It was actually a Silver Ring that didn't need to be appraised, really saving me quite a bit!  Right now it seemed like there weren't many rings in Spirit of Grief, but I actually finished a quest that gave me a Silver Ring.  I really was lucky!

I immediately equipped the Defending the Gravekeeper and my attack power increased, while my vitality went over 70!

Actually the most precious part of this ring was the 3% critical hit increase,  Everyone knew that agility based Jobs wanted to use critical hits and with a high critical chance, they would increase their attack power.  As for a pure strength archer like me, this equipment could also make up for my flaws!

I finally finished the series of quests and my level finally surpassed Ling Yue's.  Not only that, the Star Chasing Bow that I just obtained from the Beast Riding Corpse King helped me reach 50% of level 38, sending me to second place on the world rankings.  I was only a little bit behind the person that was in first place!

I wanted to reach level 40 in one go and change jobs, but I really couldn't hold on.  After all, I had been in game of close to 16 hours and I couldn't keep going anymore.

Summer wanted to talk with me, but was denied by me because I needed to sleep.

I returned to the city and logged off!

Taking off the helmet, my entire person had a kind of collapsing feeling.  I did not care about anything else and fell onto the bed, entering a deep sleep.

I didn't know how long passed, but I suddenly heard someone knocking on the door.

I looked at the time and saw it was only 1pm.  I had only slept for five hours.

Opening the door, I was surprised as I cried, "Aunty, why are you here?"

That's right, this was the aunt that took care of me while I was in university.  After my parents left the country, she was the only one taking care of me.

Aunty looked at my shabby appearance and couldn't help saying, "Quickly wash up and dress up nicely.  You're coming with me to see a little girl!"

"Yi?  Little girl, what does this mean?"

Aunty angrily said, "I'm helping you get a girlfriend!  Even if you're not anxious, I'm very worried!"

Aunty did not have a son, so she treated me like half a son, but she never thought that this matter was very painful for me!

Even though I was unwilling, but Aunty would make me go even if I didn't want to.  So I washed up a bit and then wore some decent clothing.

I came downstairs.  Aunty's old bike was covered in scratches, clearly being used for many years now.  The fact that it still wasn't broken yet meant it was pretty well made.

Aunty said, "Get on.  The little girl I'm introducing you to, I've heard she's quite beautiful!"

I said, "Forget it aunty.  Last time you said she was very beautiful, but meeting her almost scared me to death.  She was very girly, but her beard was longer than mine!"

Aunty smiled and said, "Stop wasting time!  Come with me already!"

The car was started and in a quarter of an hour, we arrived at a hotel.  Aunty said, "We're treating them to a meal and you'll be talking to the little girl.  If you can do this, then I'll buy you a house in the city for your marriage!"

I was miserable beyond compare, but I could say nothing.  As for matters of actually being in love, aunty didn't care that much!
