Chapter 185 A Swift End And A Deity's Pleasure
Chapter 185 A Swift End And A Deity's Pleasure
~BOOM~ BOOM~
~CRASH~
Dozla and the Orc Shaman were now fighting at full power which resulted in a lot of damage to the nearby areas.
It had been five minutes since they had started fighting, and the Orc Shaman continuously retreated moving back towards the woods. Arthur who was watching it all carefully knew that it was almost time to act.
"The Orc Shaman should keep him occupied for a while more, time to move." Arthur said to himself as he went down the hill.
At the same time, he took out the Signal Flare and held the tube in his hand.
~CLACK~
Using a flint he ignited the fuse at the bottom, making it sparkle.
~HISS~
The fuse burned and Arthur pointed it straight to the sky.
~WHOOSH~
A couple of seconds later, the flare shot out of the tube and quickly flew up into the sky. It left a streak of smoke behind it and glowed brightly in the sky.
"Time to run!" Arthur threw the Signal flare away and ran at full speed.
Thankfully, with the multitude of fiery explosions that were happening due to the Orc Shaman and the Bandit Chief fighting, the sound of the flare was easily ignored. It wasn't until an entire minute later that some of the surviving bandits noticed the smoke trail in the sky.
"LOOK!" Someone pointed up.
"What's that smoke?"
"That's not just smoke! That was a signal flare!" they finally recognized.
"We need to tell the Chief! Someone might have found out about us." The bandits realized they might be in greater trouble now.
"Damned Orcs! Their attack probably attracted the attention of people nearby. They might have alerted the others with the flare." They figured out.
Just the attack of the Orc Tribe had wiped away more than half their numbers while injuring many more. They didn't know just what would happen if more enemies were added to this.
Arthur on the other hand didn't care what the bandits were feeling and instead focused on getting away. He changed his path to be diagonal to the place where the Orc Shaman and Dozla were fighting, so as to avoid them.
He didn't care about his stamina and simply ran nonstop. Arthur even kept the stats screen ready, just in case he needed to quickly add to his agility or any other stat. He was prepared for all emergencies and only needed to wait until Guard Captain Fredric arrived.
'The Orc Tribe and the Shaman should keep the Chief occupied for a while more. Hopefully it is just enough time for the Guard Captain to reach here…' Arthur could still hear the cries of the Orcs and knew that they were still fighting.
Of course, the Orcs were far too weak to last against the bandit chief and only ended up being unwilling meat shields. The Orc Shaman continually retreated and shot spells towards the bandit chief, who kept on killing all Orcs that were near him.
The spells did hit the Bandit chief a few times too, and he had gotten injured. But he ignored those injuries and focused on killing all those that were standing in his path.
Arthur wished to see just how much HP the Bandit chief might have lost, but he wasn't in the range of using Dragon's Insight again.
The good thing about Dragon's Insight was that it could be used on anything that Arthur could glance at. Thus it worked at a longer range than almost all Appraisal skills. It was also why he was able to glance at the Bandit Chief and the Orc Shaman's stats from the hill.
Both of them were within the range of his eyesight which had already been improved after his class change. Thus he could see them along with other bandits clearly.
Minute after minute passed and Arthur had gotten significantly far from the location of the battle.
It was now that he heard a whistling sound coming from the distance.
~CLACK~CLACK~CLACK~
The whistling sound turned into the sound of metal clashing against metal and Arthur immediately became alert.
A few seconds later, the sound got louder and Arthur finally saw who it was.
"Captain!" Arthur saw the armored man rushing towards him.
What was surprising though was that his armor was glowing in several colors now.
'Just how many buffs did he get?' Arthur wondered but then looking at the speed at which the man was running, he reckoned there was certainly a speed boost in it.
"Seems like you did your work well. Don't stop now, get as far as you can. Your work here is done." Guard Captain Fredric said in a hurry without stopping.
By the time Arthur heard it fully, Guard Captain Fredric had already gone a hundred meters ahead.
'He's running faster than a horse at this point…' Arthur was sure of it. "Let's take a look…"
>Dragon's Insight has successfully activated!<

Just one look at the Captain's stats showed Arthur just how vast a difference there was between him and the Bandit. The buffs that the man had been boosted with were also rather good showing that they were cast using strong magic.
'His agility is actually above 150?' Arthur hadn't expected it to be that far high.
It was the captain's second highest stat right below the strength which was unusual for a knight.
'Guess the Guard Captain is someone that favors speed too.' Arthur thought to himself.
A couple of minutes later, Arthur finally saw something that made him stop in his tracks. A beam of light shot out to the sky, that could be seen all the way from where Arthur was.
Upon seeing the light, Arthur knew that it was a skill.
"They're fighting!" Arthur said with a smile.
The fight was intense enough that Arthur could see the effects of the skills from all the way here.
Though, it didn't last long. Just a minute later, it all died out and a notification appeared in front of Arthur.
>Bandit Chief Dozla has been killed by Guard Captain Fredric!<
>Detected that player Arzhur has influenced the death of the Bandit Chief! Bonus experience will be granted!<
>Player Arzhur has obtained 200% experience!<
>Player Arzhur has leveled up!< x 2
>Player Arzhur has obtained 20 free stat points!<
Seeing the bonus experience, Arthur smiled widely.
"Ahahah! Just as I thought!" Arthur had a great hunch that something like this would happen.
After all, he had influenced a scenario that had led to the death of a major NPC that would be an adversary for the players in the future.
But this was merely the start of it all.
>Dozla's Bandit group has been forcibly disbanded!<
>Detected that player Arzhur has influenced the event!<
>Player Arzhur has obedient 50% Experience!<
>Player Arzhur has leveled up!<
>Player Arzhur has obtained 10 free stat points!<
Before the conflict, Arthur's experience bar was already hovering around the 70% mark thus the addition 50% experience pushed him ahead again.
He had now hit level 21!
>The Trickster who likes Plays has noticed the Player's actions<
>The Trickster who likes Plays approaches the player<
Seeing the differently colored notifications, Arthur suddenly calmed down.
'Loki has taken an interest?' Arthur waited for the next response.
<The Trickster who likes Plays greets the player and says that he watched the entire thing with great interest. He is pleased with the player's actions and had fun watching him orchestrate a 'fun' massacre>
"It was merely something that needed to be done and brought me benefit." Arthur replied carefully.
<The Trickster who likes Plays says benefits are what everyone strives for and there's nothing wrong with it. Regardless of the player's intentions though, he was satisfied by the use of his 'gift' that he had given to the player.
The Trickster who likes Plays wishes that the player uses it again and again, to create more fun 'plays' that he can watch>
Seeing this Arthur understood why Loki had shown himself again.
"As long as things are good for me, I'll try to show you more of these fun 'plays'." Arthur replied, wondering what more did Loki want from him.
<The Trickster who likes Plays smiles and says that if the player shows him a sufficient number of such plays, he might reward him again. Thus, if the player wants to be blessed more, he should strive to entertain him as much as possible>
"Very well, I'll keep that in mind." Arthur replied respectfully, having an inkling that this might be in line with his own progress.
