Chapter 194 Venerated In Town
Having heard the Captain's words, Arthur understood the seriousness.
"But since they can use long range multi-person teleportation scrolls, can't they also use the same to come to the town?" Arthur asked in doubt. "Won't your departure give them a greater chance to act?"
"We did consider that." Guild master Caleb spoke this time. "And we already have a solution for that."
"The Church of Hestia… They'll be providing protection too this time." Captain Fredric revealed.
"They are?!" Arthur was surprised.
While churches of various gods did have the obligation to protect the people of the settlement it was located in, it still depended on several factors such as the size of the settlement.
The power of a church depended on its people and patronage, thus a church in a large city would have a lot more power than a church in a town. The town church would have limited influence and would usually only act when the church itself was threatened.
Churches of course had their own knights and soldiers that had sworn to protect them. These would only act upon the order of the church and would not interfere in normal matters.
For a church of the town to have been spurred into action was unusual.
"The Church of Hestia cannot stay put when there are cultists of Iltan trying to threaten the safety. Of course, they would act as well." Mage Hudd explained. "In addition to that, the Church will be further increasing the protection of the town. We might even get a divine barrier." She added.
"A divine barrier… yes if that is active, they won't be able to teleport here." Arthur muttered.
"So that is what shall be happening. I'll be gone for a week at most and will try to return as soon as I can. My return will probably be with a regiment of soldiers too for added protection." Captain Frederic stated.
"Is there something you need from me?" Arthur finally asked.
"Nothing as of now. Just that you should be aware of all this and be willing to protect the town when needed." Captain Fredric replied.
"Of course." Arthur nodded.
"With that over, I believe some rewards are in order." Captain Fredric changed the topic, giving a look to Alchemist Lugan. "You have successfully completed a difficult mission while risking your life for this town. You shall be rewarded accordingly for that."
Arthur held his breath, as he waited to see just what he would be obtaining.
>The Quest: Lure out Bandit Chief Dozla has been successfully completed!<
~DING~
——
Grade: Rare
Difficulty: Hard
Reward: 5 Gold Coins, Reputation increase, Title: Saviour of Roran Town, Bonus Experience.
——
Looking at the rewards Arthur was decently pleased.
"Take this," Alchemist Lugan first handed Arthur a small bag of coins.
Arthur didn't take a look though, as he already knew that this had the 5 gold coins in it. This was possibly one of the biggest monetary rewards one could get this early on from a quest.
>Player Arzhur's reputation has increased!<
>Player Arzhur has reached the Venerated status in Roran town! All NPCs will have a positive impression of the Player and will actively help when asked<
'Just as I thought, it hit the peak in one go.' Arthur's reputation had already increased previously and had reached the favored level thus an increase again for such a quest was bound to push him to the next level.
>Player Arzhur has obtained the title: Saviour of Roran Town<
——
Effect: 1. Player Arzhur will obtain bonus experience from all quests that are issued in Roran Town.
2. Player Arzhur will have access to Roran town's exclusive quests.
——
'Finally…' Arthur had guessed that he just might be getting the savior title for Roran town.
The Saviour titles for various settlements were unique to each and were very beneficial. Just the bonus experience gain from all quests was a massive help not to mention that it was one of the few ways of getting access to certain exclusive quests.
These quests were those that needed unique requirements or greater trust to be fulfilled in order to obtain. But if one had the title, the player would be able to obtain them without needing those requirements.
Of course, there were limitations to this too, as certain hidden quests did not fall under this.
>Player Arzhur has obtained 90% Bonus Experience!<
>Player Arzhur has leveled up!<
>Player Arzhur has obtained 10 free stat points!<
Finally came the last reward, which allowed Arthur to level up one more time, hitting level 22.
'90% huh… guess my earlier level ups reduced it. Though it is still enough for another one soon enough.' Arthur looked at his experience bar.
<Experience: 88%>
'Guess I should have another level up soon.' Arthur thought. 'After all, I still have the bounty to report.'
"For helping the Roran town, we all thank you once more." Captain Fredric and others said in unison.
"It is the least I could do," Arthur replied.
"While I'm gone, if you have anything important to talk to you can contact either Alchemist Lugan or Guild Master Caleb." Fredric said before walking out from behind the desk. "I need to leave now. I need to get to the city as soon as possible."
"Of course, we'll be waiting for you." Arthur bid the man farewell.
"We'll take care of things here you just focus on the task at hand." Alchemist Lugan said.
Capitan Fredric gave a nod before hurriedly leaving. A minute later, Arthur could hear the sound of the guards outside as well as horses moving.
~Sigh~
"Guess I'll take my leave now." Arthur said, seeing that it was close to his log out time.
"Go on and rest. You've earned it." Guild master Caleb said. "Also, come see me later when you feel better, I'll have some job requests for you. There's another new adventurer that has come from Kestrel Village." He added.
"Ah yeah, I met her already," Arthur replied.
"In the forest?" Caleb inquired.
"Yes, we met on the way back." Arthur replied.
"That's good then." Caleb said, prompting Arthur to nod and take his leave as well.
He went to the next room where the bounties were supposed to be submitted but didn't see most of the staff there.
"Uh? Is everyone busy?" Arthur asked the one lone staff that seemed to be buried under papers.
"Yes. If you are here for the bounty submission, I'm afraid you'll have to wait." The staff member replied.
"Ah, alright. I'll come around later. Things have been hectic, so it's fine." Arthur didn't mind and left the building.
He quickly went to the inn and logged out.
~SHUA~
Arthur found himself back at the desktop screen with several notifications.
<You have 26 notifications, 89 mentions and 75 message requests from the Nexus forums>
"They sure are getting impatient huh," Arthur muttered and opened the forums to take a look.
Most of the notifications he was getting were about his posts and people mentioning him in shared posts. With how well his guides were, it didn't take long for players of other villages to take an interest in it.
They were even wondering how to get to Kestrel Village to try some of the guides.
Then there were the messages. Most of them were just asking Arthur for more information about the game or asking when he'll be posting more guides.
"Oh?" Though among them, there was one message that caught Arthur's attention.
<Rain: I'd like to meet you. Whether it be in the game or somewhere outside. You can choose>
The one person that Arthur had thought a lot about earlier had just messaged him.
He was also sure that this was indeed THE Rain, as the user name was unique to him and others couldn't copy it. The profile even had a verified tag on it, confirming that it was indeed Rain, the top e-sports player.
"I didn't expect him to actually message me…" Arthur wondered what the man wanted. "He didn't even talk about any offer… neither did he mention his company." It was a bit confusing.
Arthur didn't reply to him right away, of course, knowing that wouldn't be appropriate.
~Sigh~
"I'll think over it first… can't mess this up." Arthur knew there would be risks in talking to him first, and as such, decided to wait and watch. 'Perhaps he might send more messages and clarify.' He thought.
With that done, Arthur logged out of the forums and opened the Dream Pod V3.
~Hiss~
"HAA~ That feels… much better than I thought." Arthur stretched a bit and realized that his body felt different.
>Warning: Player Arthur's hunger is at 10%!<
"Eh, I'll think about it after some food." Arthur pushed it to the back of his mind and got to cooking.
He needed to focus on improving his body and a good diet was of utmost importance in it.
While eating, he scrolled through the news as well, updating himself on the things that were happening.
