Chapter 232 Risk For A Cape
Chapter 232 Risk For A Cape
Arthur knew that any item that came from the Night Slayer would be valuable.
From his last life, he had known a bit about the Night Slayer's equipment, but there were still unknown parts. The players hadn't been able to appraise all the items that the Night Slayer had after all.
Even if the players had reached a high level, fighting the Night Slayer was still very dangerous due to the debuffs he could inflict. It was a general consensuses that it was better to avoid the Night Slayer than to engage it.
Some of the brave players had still taken the risk of appraising as many items of the Night Slayers as they could. But this was limited to the weapons he used, as well as the armor he used.
But the cape was something that had been missed.
Or rather, no one had known that the cape was actually a separate piece of equipment. The same could be said for Arthur and as such when he saw it, he knew he had to least take a look.
"I'll have to take a risk and go up." Arthur muttered to himself and made up his mind.
The dark cape had gotten stuck on a rock that was about ten meters above him. In order to get there, Arthur would have to struggle a bit.
"Let's see, HAH!" Arthur pushed off using his leg and raised himself high enough to grab onto a crack. "Got it!" he then pulled himself up and rested his legs onto the rock that he had been holding onto earlier.
'Now where's the next place to hold…' Arthur looked for a close one but couldn't find one. "Shit, its too far." He would only be able to reach it if there was at least a single foothold in between.
He thought of a few options and figured he might as well make his own foothold.
~Shing~
He drew out the Black Tear Short sword with his free hand and stabbed it into the mountain side.
~CLANG~
The sword faced some resistance but with Arthur's strength, he was able to stab it deep enough such that it wouldn't move.
"There we go," With that done, Arthur raised his leg and put it on the short sword.
Arthur was now in a sightly awkward angle with his leg horizontally to his left while he hung from the right.
"Just to get little more height!" Arthur exerted force and pushed his body to stand on the short sword.
At the same time, he gained enough height to grip into the next crack above him.
"A few more times and I'll get there." Arthur continued to climb and finally managed to reach the rock where the Night Slayer's cape was stuck.
~flutter~
The cape moved due to the wind when Arthur pulled it off and made him a bit scared.
'I can't lose this.' Arthur stuffed the cape into the backpack with one hand and got ready to get down.
He didn't appraise it there as it wasn't exactly safe. Not to mention, with every second that he spent hanging, his stamina was also going down.
<Stamina: 58%>
Arthur glanced at it and saw the reduced number. Constantly hanging off the wall with his hand was certainly a drain on his stamina and made it fall faster. If he took too long, his stamina might just reach zero make them fall off.
Thankfully he only needed to get back down now.
'I should be able to just jump off when I'm close enough.' Arthur thought.
Technically he could jump off even now if he wished to as he had the necessary stats to not only withstand the fall, but also mitigate most of the damage. But there was still the danger of the mountain side being unstable.
There was no telling if Arthur's jump from here might make the ground collapse and cause him to simply fall of the cliff. He certainly didn't wish to die randomly like that and as such decided to be a bit safer.
~Chink~
Arthur also pulled out the Black Tear Short Sword on his way down. The sword might be a bit weak for him now, but it still had a few uses. At the very least, it's skill could come in handy from time to time.
Plus he could use it as a spare weapon to cut and whack at stuff if need be without caring much. Of course, Dietrich was unbreakable and would be able to do the same, but its length made it inconvenient for few of the things.
~Thud~
And when Arthur was about three meters from the broken mountain path, he jumped down.
~tremble~
Just as he had thought, the path had become unstable and shook a bit. Small rocks and debris fell off the side of the path, while fine cracks formed on it.
"Phew!~ That was close." Arthur said seeing that he had managed to survive the jump.
Perhaps if he had been just a meter higher, the ground might have ended up collapsing under him.
'Until I have a Feather Fall scroll, I should avoid going to tall mountains with bad paths like this.' Arthur reckoned before continuing onwards.
He didn't stop to check the cape, since he hand no idea of the path would hold up or not.
'Better safe than sorry.' He thought and walked for about ten minutes and reached a safer spot on the other side of the mountain that hadn't been damaged.
Due to how it was angled, this area hadn't taken any stray fireballs and was wholly intact. Of course the path was still narrow, about a meter wide but it was safe for Arthur now.
The animals and beasts in the area had long since been chased away due to the battle that had happened a while back, thus he didn't need to worry about them ambushing him either.
"Now then, let's take a look…" Arthur said with a smile and pulled out the cloak he had stuffed in the side of the backpack.
