Chapter 47 - ELLENA IS MY WIFE
"H-he—"
"I'm Ellena's husband!" Lucas interrupted Ellena. Instantly his words made Ellena and Keenan turn around so swiftly.
Ellena was wide-eyed. She couldn't believe that Lucas dared to say that in front of Keenan. Even though Lucas had never met Keenan before, Ellena was sure that now Lucas knew who the man in front of her. However, why did Lucas look so relaxed, without worrying that Keenan would feel jealous or angry with him?
With Lucas daring to hold hands and claiming to be her husband, Ellena certainly objected. Didn't Lucas have the right to reveal the secret without her permission?
"Elle, what does that man mean?" Keenan asked with his gaze fixed on Lucas.
"Didn't you hear what I said?" Lucas stared blankly at Keenan's face. "I'm Ellena's husband and Ellena is my wife!" he said reassuringly.
Keenan smiled bitterly. It seemed he still didn't believe Lucas' words. How could Ellena marry another man while still in a relationship with him. Could Ellena be that bad? 'I don't think so!' he muttered as he shook his head slowly while still glaring at Lucas scornfully.
"Elle, tell me! He's not right, is he?" Keenan turned his gaze directly to Ellena. However, again Ellena only answered with tears. "Elle, answer me! That man's words isn't true, is he?" He rebuked while pointing at Lucas.
Seeing Ellena who was just silent and crying, Keenan changed his expression from disbelief to suspicion. Instantly he let go of Ellena's hand slowly and full of disappointment. However, not for a second did he take his eyes off Ellena's face.
Keenan knew the meaning of Elena's silence. Of course it was an attitude that stated that what Lucas said was true. However, he still hoped that his guess was wrong.
Regarding his relationship with Ellena, so far he doesn't easily believe what other people say. He only believed what Ellena said. However, this time his brain and heart seemed to be out of sync. In his heart he wanted so badly not to believe what Lucas said. However, seeing Ellena's attitude of being silent and not giving any statement, it made his think differently.
Doubts began to creep in. Dilemma, of course. He was confused, did he still have to believe when his heart began to doubt the figure of his lover?
"You still don't want to answer my question?" Keenan looked sadly at Ellena's face. He looked a little limp. Even before Ellena gave any certainty about the answer she was waiting for. "Fine, I think I know the meaning of your silence." Keenan took a step back. However, Ellena swiftly withdrew her hand, causing her to stop again.
"No, Keenan!" Ellena started to speak while shaking her head, as if she didn't want Keenan to just walk away from her. "I can explain everything," she said, still shedding tears.
Seeing Ellena's attitude this time made Keenan even more sure that what Lucas said was true.
"What do you want to explain to me, Elle?" Lucas was starting to get angry. "You want to make it clear that what the man said is true, don't you?" he added, widening his eyes.
Ellena sobbed even more while shaking her head. She wanted to say that what Lucas said was not true. However, in reality Lucas is her husband. She was frustrated and at a loss as to what she should explain. It's all because of Lucas. If only the man would be a little patient not to reveal the secret, maybe Keenan wouldn't be this angry. Even if Keenan had to know about this fact, of course she had to tell her boyfriend, not Lucas.
Seeing Ellena who kept crying and shaking her head, made Keenan open his voice again.
"So this is the reason you're avoiding me, huh? You conspired with Filia to lie to me. In fact, you turned off your cell phone just because you didn't want me to call you. I really can't believe you could be that mean to me, Elle!" This time it was Keenan's turn to shake his head. He couldn't believe that Ellena could break his trust in an instant. "You know what? I was so worried about you, when I didn't know how you were!" he added slightly raised his voice.
"No, Keenan. It's not what you think!" Ellena dismissed all of Keenan's words. Even though what Lucas said was true, her heart was still for Keenan and she still hoped that one day she would be reunited with her lover.
"Then, what should I think? While the man who is with you claims that you are his wife. Just look at that hand!" Keenan pointed at Lucas' hand which was still holding Ellena's hand, causing Ellena to glance at him. "In fact, he dared to hold your hand in front of me. Isn't that enough to prove that you—"
"Stop! You don't know anything, Keenan!" Ellena interrupted and denied all of Keenan's words, then she looked at Lucas. "And you! Please let go of my hand!" Ellena jerked her hand away from Lucas' grip. However, Lucas' hand was getting stronger to hold it.
"Lucas, I beg you, let go of my hand and let me talk to him!" Ellena pleased, as Lucas didn't seem to want to give him a chance to talk to Keenan.
"No!" Lucas immediately refused without further ado. For some reason it was so hard for him to let go of Ellena's hand.
"Lucas, I beg you!" Ellena became even more pitiful in the midst of the tears that kept running down her cheeks.
In fact, because of the meeting with Keeenan, she almost forgot her original purpose in coming to the convenience store. However, she could still feel something uncomfortable. Luckily it's the first day of menstruation, at least there won't be too much blood coming out. Yes, that's usually how it is.
"Lucas ...." Ellena squeaked pitifully.
Seeing Ellena who was constantly crying made Lucas finally relent. He let go of Ellena's hand, albeit a little forced. "I'll give you 10 minutes!" he emphasized.
"Okay," Elena whispered.
Ellena looked back at Keenan as if gesturing for the man to follow her, then she left there, walking side by side with Keenan.
"Oh yeah!" Lucas' voice again made Ellena and Keenan's steps stop, when they only managed to step one meter from Lucas. They seemed to turn around, then turned to Lucas who was standing behind them.
"Please keep your distance, while you are talking!" Lucas said, suddenly making Keenan even more furious, then clenched his fists. 'How dare he rule my life,' she thought.
"But—"
"I'll give you permission, if you're willing to fulfill my conditions. If you don't, we'd better leave now!" In fact, Lucas didn't give Ellena a chance to refuse her terms.
Ah, does it have to be like that talking to the lover? It was true that Lucas was Ellena's husband. However, it is not a bond, but more than a job.. How could Lucas manage her life, when himself was just a black and white husband to Ellena.
