Chapter 47: Invaders
Chapter 47: Invaders
Lying on the crystal throne, Amos suddenly opened his golden vertical pupils, and a cold glow appeared in his eyes
The voice of the White Dragon Lord was as cold as a winters wind: "An Invader?!"
"Ghoul-Garu! Capture those bugs!"
Three hours earlier.
Brance found that the city was full of Murlocs, so he led his men across the beach and headed into the forest, trying to find new clues.
Before stepping into the forest, Brance raised his hand, and the team stopped their movement.
"Mage, detect the traps!"
"Rogue, go and explore the way!"
The mages and thieves in the scouting party left the group and walked ahead.
The Mage muttered a few spells under his breath and swiftly a magical field covered the forest ahead.
Mage: "Report! No abnormalities were found!"
The skinny rogue hunched over and carefully observed the weeds on the ground. Suddenly, he noticed something unusual.
Rogue pointed to a pile of weeds that had been squashed: "Report! I found traces that show the activity of intelligent creatures."
While picking among the weeds, he discovered a weed that had been trampled on, and he continued to report to the Captain: "The fracture of this grass is still fresh, and it should not be more than three days old."
"Could it be the traces left by those Murlocs?"
The rogue measured the squashed weeds and removed them, then he observed the footprints below: "No! This is the footprint of a large humanoid, weighing at least 500 pounds."
"Can you guess what it is?"
Wanderer: "I can't tell what it is. There are too many types of large humanoids like Trolls, Ogres, and half-Orcs from ancient times; any of them are possible."
At this moment, the mage walked over and observed the footprint for a while, then said, "This is the footprint of an Ogre, I have seen it in a book. The Ogre walks with its head upright because its belly is too fat, and usually the heel falls first, so the footprints are deeper."
The wanderer bent over and checked, indeed, as the Mage said, he complimented: "You are indeed a very knowledgeable Mage!"
Brance made a decisive decision and ordered: "Follow the footsteps. A detection trap will be cast by the Mage whenever he crosses a section of road."
"Yes!"
Along the way, the scout team got more and more frightened, and they found lots of traces, including Ogres, Trolls, and Jackals. Brance realized that they had entered the monster base.
In addition, a lot of traps were discovered. In the beginning, they were just ordinary traps, later there are magical traps. The team had to slow down and act carefully.
Brance thought in his heart: Trap! Monsters of various races! This is not the style of the sea clan! Is it a dragon?!
The Mage discovered a new magic trap, and he looked at it carefully and said, "Captain! We can't keep going! The magical knowledge of the maker of this magic trap is absolutely above me. If we go further, there may be a trap that I cannot detect."
Although Brance was reluctant, he had to give up due to the situation.
"Retreat!"
Brance led the team out of the forest and returned the same way. As the team turned around, one of the team member's long swords stumbled across a tree by accident.
The mage felt a flash of magical fluctuations and shouted: "No! We have been discovered."
No one expected that the heartless guy would set up a warning trap in the tree.
Brance gave the troublemaker a fierce look, but he also understood that even if he killed him now, it would not help: "Quick, retreat!"
Soon after that, Ghoul-Garu led a group of Ogres to the scene and saw the signs of the intruder's hasty escape.
"Chase! They can't get far."
Ghoul-Garu enchanted the Ogres with a group spell to make them nimble and took the lead to charge in the direction of the invaders.
After Ghoul-Garu chased for a distance, the intruder's trail had disappeared. He felt something was wrong and looked closely at the ground where the footprints had disappeared.
Ghoul-Garu was furious, and Ghoul roared loudly: "The cunning invaders dare to fool the Skull Crusher Clan!"
It turned out that the mages in the scouting party used summoned creatures to camouflage their escape route and lure away the Ogre pursuers.
Garu raised his hand and fired a flare into the sky, which exploded into a yellow firework in midair, the signal that links between the White Castle and White Scale City.
In White Scale City Council Hall when Old Jimmy saw a flare in the sky, he rose to his feet.
"Let's pass down the order and block the coast!"
In the jungle, Brance and his men fled frantically. Seeing the fireworks exploding in the sky Brance's expression changed suddenly. When he thought of the Murlocs in White Scale City.
"Everyone drop the load and go at full speed! Whether we can go back alive or not depends on us now!"
After speaking, Brance ran to the panting Mage and put one of his arms to reduce the burden on the weaker Mage.
Drawing a mage to fill himself in the light body technique, Brance asked, "How about the team on the other side?"
The mage unrolled his magic scroll and replied, "They are also running for their lives."
Brance shouted encouragement to his tired and sweating companions: "Everyone, hold on, get on the boat! Turn on the invisibility circle! Well be safe!"
On the other side, Ghoul-Garu finally found the correct escape route of the invaders and speeded up to pursue the investigating team.
The angry Ogres rampaged through the forest, startling the birds.
The scouts heard the sound from behind, like a desperate drum beating in their hearts.
At this point, the team member who caused the accident suddenly stopped and hid behind a big tree, waving his hand at the team with a wry smile.
"Markle! You!"
One of his closest teammates, who had a better relationship with him couldn't help but want to go back to get his friends but was pulled back by Brance.
Brance: "Well take care of your family in your stead!!"
The team members also figured out and turned their grief and anger into motivation to speed up their escape! Otherwise, none of them would escape!
Hearing the Captain's words, Markle smiled with relief. He leaned his back against the tree, taking a deep breath, quickly adjusted his mentality. Listening to the movement from the back, slowly squatting down, he tightly held the crossbow and scimitar in his hands.
At the moment, when Markle saw the Ogre with his back to him, he ran past and pulled the trigger, and a crossbow arrow attacked the leading Ogre.
Ghoul-Garu heard the crack in the air behind him without time to think about it, he raised his arm, and the crossbow shot down on his armour and flew off. Ghoul-Garu turned around and roared angrily.
Only then did Markle see Ghoul-Garu's face, and he screamed in horror: "Two-headed Ogre?!"
As soon as Markle screamed, the wooden stick in Ghoul-Garu's hand had already been smashed on his head, leaving him no time to escape, he quickly raised his scimitar to defend, but his power was not comparable to this monster Ghoul-Garu.
The block of the scimitar hardly had any effect. The moment the stick touched Markle, it triggered the passive skill-[Dissociation Technique], and Markle's body disintegrated immediately.
Ghoul-Garu was still angry, and he cursed fiercely: "Little boy! This is the best for you!"
Ghoul-Garu finished the opponent at once and continued to chase.
Ghoul-Garu quickly fled from the forest but found that scouts had discovered the boat hidden by the sea and were about to board it.
Ghoul-Garu and the three high-ranking Ogres roared and jumped high together, and even they wanted to jump directly across the beach onto the scout boat.
Markle hurriedly took out a scroll and shredded it. A football-sized fireball came and flew towards the ogre in mid-air. Ghoul-Garu instantly sent a soil thorn to detonate the fireball in advance.
The blast wave struck the Ogres in mid-air, causing them to fly upside down and fall to the ground. The Murloc soldiers were late to arrive.
The alchemy boat slid into the sea, and the mage immediately activated the stealth spell on the boat.
The scouts excitedly yelled at the Ogre: "Goodbye! Monsters!"
