Chapter 1040: From Beyond The Cracked Sky [Part 1]
As soon as Ethan and Chloe stepped outside of the portal, the sound of fighting and explosions reached their ears.
The young man immediately stood guard beside Chloe while simultaneously assessing their surroundings.
At first, they thought that they had come to the wrong place.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
However, when they saw the giant wolves that were at least three meters tall fighting against Stone Gargoyles, Ethan and Chloe immediately understood that something that they never expected was currently happening.
Ethan opened his wings and held Chloe in a princess carry before flying upward, passing through the giant trees to break through their foliage.
When the two teenagers finally broke out above the trees, a look of disbelief appeared on their faces.
"The sky has fallen," Ethan said in a solemn tone.
"Don't tell me this realm is being invaded by Otherwolders?" Chloe, who was just as shaken as Ethan, frowned.
Before Ethan could answer, a scream filled with rage reverberated inside the forest. Suddenly, a towering figure emerged from the trees, brandishing a wooden club that shattered the Gargoyles that were flying around her.
"You bastards!" the Giantess roared in anger. "Go back to whatever hell you came from!" The crack in the sky seemed to widen, and the number of Gargoyles kept on increasing.
This further infuriated the Giantess as she howled like a wolf, summoning her children to fight alongside her.
Ethan and Chloe exchanged a glance and nodded their heads at the same time.
The young lady summoned her Flying Broom and immediately soared through the sky with Ethan.
"Ignis Fulmine!" Chloe chanted, and a barrage of Firebolts exploded from the tip of her wand, shooting at the Gargoyles attacking the Giantess.
When the Giantess noticed that some of the Gargoyles exploded from magic attacks, she glanced behind her and saw two humans, who had also started to fight against the Gargoyles. A look of surprise flicked across the Giantess' face, but this only lasted for a few seconds. She once again brandished her club to shatter all of the gargoyles within striking range, turning them into broken pieces that fell like rain over the forest.
It was then that a Black Gargoyle, clad in black flames, descended from the sky.
When Ethan saw this, he didn't hesitate and flew toward it, holding Areadhbair in his hands.
The flaming spear burst into flames, transforming Ethan to a burning meteorite that obliterated every Gargoyle that tried to block his path.
When the Black Gargoyle saw this, it didn't hesitate to unleash a breath attack made of black flames.
Ethan didn't bother to evade it. With Areadbhair's blade tip pointing forward, he clashed against the black flames, slicing through it like a hot knife through butter.
The Gargoyle didn't expect Ethan to be able to withstand its breath attack.
Because of its overconfidence, it failed to move in time to evade Ethan's blow. The spear pierced through its chest, and made its entire body explode into pieces.
At that moment, a Red Gargoyle clocked in golden flames descended from the heavens.
This Gargoyle was at least four-meters tall.
It was flanked on its sides by four Black Gargoyles, who were two-meters in height.
'I see. So that's their leader,' Ethan thought.
During the Insectoid Invasion, there were golden bugs who appeared in the battlefield, and all of them had phenomenal strength.
They were as strong as the powerhouses of the Alliance and the Fomorians, increasing the difficulty of the battle.
If not for the fact that Ethan and Lilian had used Legacy Resonance, the death count would have been in the tens of thousands.
"Sebastian, Dainsleif, protect Chloe!" Ethan ordered.
Immediately, the Sea God Trident and the Ancient Wendigo appeared behind him and flew back towards Chloe.
Both of them knew that the young lady was very important to Ethan, so they moved as soon as he asked the two of them to guard her.
The young man knew that he wouldn't have the strength to spare any attention to her once he started fighting against the leaders of the Gargoyles.
Since that was the case, he would place powerful bodyguards at her side, ensuring her safety.
When Chloe saw the Sea God's Trident and the Wendigo approaching her, she knew what Ethan was thinking.
Because of this, she didn't head deep into the Gargoyle horde and simply attacked them from a distance with her Fire-based Magic.
The Giantess narrowed her eyes because she felt that the Red Gargoyle was quite strong.
She didn't know where the two humans came from, but thanks to their help, the burden she had to carry decreased drastically.
Her eyes were already bloodshot when she saw that dozens of her children had died due to these Gargoyles, making the anger that burned in her heart burn brighter.
She didn't hold back and swung her club like a crazed warrior, destroying anything in her path.
While this was happening, Ethan started to fight against the four Black Gargoyles and the Red Gargoyles at the same time.
His body was already cloaked in the flames of Areadbhair, allowing him to resist the black flames that were being unleashed in his direction.
"Celestial Army, come!" Ethan shouted.
Countless portals appeared behind him as the Fairies from his Celestial Domain heard his
summons.
"Damn these gargoyles sure are ugly!"
"There's so many of them!"
"Oh... these guys are rock hard."
"... Can you please not say things that can easily be misunderstood?"
The Fairies were weaker than the Gargoyles, and they were also greatly outnumbered.
However, the Elemental Swords that Ethan had created inside the Celestial Domain to act as Sentinels to protect the Domain also flew out to battle, protecting the Fairies as they cursed the enemies while casting their Fae Magic.
"Fairies?!" the Giantess exclaimed because it had been an extremely long time since she had seen them.
However, the threat of the Gargoyles was still not finished, so she reigned in her curiosity and assisted her children, who were being besieged by the unending horde of Gargoyles that was coming from the sky that had a gaping hole in it.
Cracks were still spreading in the sky, and she believed that soon, the hole where these vile monsters were coming from would continue to expand.
Ethan, who had just defeated the four Black Gargoyles, was now fighting against the Red Gargoyles, who had an extremely powerful regenerating ability.
Even if the young man smashed parts of its body, it would only take a few seconds for it to
regenerate.
Also, he couldn't continue attacking it nonstop because the Gargoyle was also very strong.
One of its blows had sent Ethan flying, making his face turn solemn.
'It's stronger than the Golden Insectoid I fought before,' Ethan thought.
Just before he could once again entangle with the Leader of the Gargoyles, five more Red
Gargoyles appeared, making him have the 'I knew it' expression on his face.
Faced with so many powerful enemies, Ethan didn't back down.
Summoning his wand, he pointed it towards the heavens, calling forth a dependable ally who
had been with him since he had entered the Wizarding World.
"Sing with me!" Ethan shouted, making the wand in his hand shine like the sun.
"Illumina!"
The Mermaid Princess appeared, clasping her hands together as if in prayer.
A moment later, she started to sing, and rain fell from the heavens, giving Ethan the power that he needed to overcome the challenge that lay before him.
What do you think?
