Chapter 49 Alister’s Date In The Arcade With Lynn

Chapter 49 Alister's Date In The Arcade With Lynn

Alister was quite surprised that Lynn easily agreed to his added rewards in the bet. He didn't know whether Lynn was confident that she could win or she was desperate to see him in a lipstick which sounded quite unusual.

But when Alister saw that Lynn was motivated and she was having fun, he shrugged and decided to focus on his bet with her.

Alister and Lynn walked around the arcade, choosing which game they would play first.

"How about for starters, let's play Whac-A-Mole?"

Alister suggested to Lynn and in response to his question, she didn't disagree. "I haven't been to the arcade before so you can take the lead."

Hearing her agreement, Alister brought Lynn in front of the Whac-A-Mole machine.

On the side of the machine was a soft mallet tied to the machine while at the center of the machine were 8 holes. In other words, at the center of the machine, there would be a total of 8 moles popping out, and the player must use the soft mallet to whack them back into the hole.

The faster the moles are whacked, the faster they will also pop out again. The goal was to whack as many moles as possible in one minute to earn as much as points as possible. Missing a mole wouldn't reduce the score but would delay the time for new batches of moles to pop out of the holes.

It was a game that tested the speed, accuracy, and reaction time of the player. Physical power didn't matter much since it didn't take a lot of force to whack the mole back into its hole. However, physical stamina was also required as it would be quite tiring to whack the moles continuously.

After teaching Lynn about the simple game mechanics of the Whac-A-Mole machine, Alister asked, "Do you want to try first or do you want me to demonstrate?"

"Since it's your first time here, I can give you the handicap of having second chances. You can try another time and your highest score will be the one that is counted in our bet."

Generously giving Lynn a handicap, Alister didn't mind it since he wanted Lynn to have fun. As long as Lynn was happy, he could care less about the bet.

When Lynn heard Alister's offer, her eyes shone with excitement as she hastily picked up the soft mallet and inserted the game token, as if she was afraid that Alister would take back his words and regret his decision.

Witnessing Lynn's antics, Alister only chuckled and watched her play the game.

When the game started, before the moles from the machine could completely pop up, Lynn's speed and reaction time were so fast that she had already slammed the mallet on it.

Although the interval when the moles popped up from its hole wasn't that fast, when they popped up, they would instantly be sent back to the hole with how fast Lynn's hands were. Like afterimages, the naked eye could barely see Lynn's movements whenever she whacked a mole back to its burrow.

Eventually, a minute passed and the game ended.

But the score couldn't be loaded as it surpassed what the machine could handle. Or more like, it had malfunctioned since not only were the moles battered up and broken, but the vibration from Lynn's whacking must have destroyed the circuits and wires inside the machine.

Whether Lynn did that on purpose or not, Alister didn't care much because he could see that Lynn was having fun and that's what all that mattered.

He didn't even worry whether the manager of the arcade or the gamers here discovered that he and Lynn had broken the machine. After all, he had already controlled their minds so they would ignore whatever actions that Lynn and him did in the arcade.

Alister had to admit that his mind control power was so convenient!

After she had noticed that she had somehow broken the machine, Lynn looked at Alister pleadingly and asked, "Does this count?"

In response, Alister shrugged, "It counts. I will take the L for this one and we can proceed with another game."

Afterward, Alister and Lynn started playing in the arcade for several hours. Whenever their tokens had run out, the cashier in the token booth was "kind" enough to deliver the tokens to them.

Eventually, Alister and Lynn even forgot to compete with each other in their bet since they were having too much fun in the arcade, reliving their childhood.

Alister and Lynn had accumulated a lot of tickets due to playing a lot of games in the arcade as well as the excellence of Alister's gaming skills and Lynn's exaggerated physical attributes. After all, most of the games in the arcade were mostly a game of skill instead of a game of chance.

Lynn's ability to augment her physical attributes had compensated for her lack of gaming skills compared to Alister who heavily relied on his gaming skills and a bit of his SSS-rank physical body.

Whether it was playing redemption games, sports games, carnival games, or electro-mechanical games, the only thing that Alister and Lynn hadn't tried yet was the merchandiser game in the arcade. It was none other than the claw crane game and Alister and Lynn hadn't played it yet due to deciding to play it last.

After all, aside from most of the games in the arcade games which were a game of skills, the claw crane game was mostly a hybrid of a game of skills and a game of chances. Not to mention, the operator of the arcade could rig the claw strength, and the drop skill of the claw crane machine, which would inevitably reduce the chances of winning.

It wasn't that it was impossible to win it. After all, there was already a mechanism manipulated by the operator for the machine which would increase the odds of winning based on the number of tokens the machine already had, increasing the claw strength and dropping skill of the machine as the number of tokens in the machine rose.

Remembering that when he was a child before, Alister had yet to win a damn toy in this rigged game, he decided to win this time, no matter what it took!

With that determination in mind, Alister inserted the game token in the machine and even boasted to Lynn.

"Lynn, watch and learn!"
