You're My Only Star

Huo Yun Chen walked into the hospital with his manager by his side. The two of them headed to the emergency department to find the nurse who has been speaking to him from the beginning.

The middle-aged nurse did a double-take when she saw Huo Yun Chen. Her mouth gaped open but no words came out.

"Hello, Nurse Wei?" Brother Xiang stepped forward, flashing a smile that did not reach his ears. He introduced himself and spoke in a low voice. "I hope that you can keep our visit a secret."

The nurse snapped out of her trance and nodded.

Just an hour before Huo Yun Chen and his manager arrived, the director of the hospital had already visited their department to say a few words. Nurse Wei was instructed to look after Xia Yu.

It was the first time that the director had spoken to Nurse Wei face to face. She was still a little bit shaken from that meeting and now, this celebrity had appeared. Nurse Wei could not help but wonder about Xia Yu's identity.

Whoever she was, Nurse Wei knew that Xia Yu was someone she should not offend. The girl seemed to have powerful backers.

Nurse Wei quickly composed herself. "Mr. Xiang, don't worry. This hospital valued privacy." She turned to Huo Yun Chen and spoke, "I'm sorry. I tried to reach for Miss Xia's family but they did not want anything to do with her."

Huo Yun Chen's expression behind the mask darkened. He could not understand just what kind of family did Xia Yu have. They don't care about her at all.

"I had to go through Miss Xia's phone and found that your name was on her speed number," Nurse Wei continued.

Huo Yun Chen noticed his manager's strange expression and quickly spoke to the nurse, "How is she?"

Nurse Wei's face turned serious. "I don't know the exact situation. Miss Xia is still in the operation room. Fortunately, she had landed on her feet first. There were a few broken bones and a few injuries around her body. The doctor mentioned a few injuries around her head. Right, let me lead you to the operation waiting room."

Huo Yun Chen glanced at his manager and nodded.

As they walked over to the operation room, Nurse Wei continued to update Huo Yun Chen about the news she had found out about Xia Yu.

Once they arrived at the floor, Nurse Wei left to return to her job.

Huo Yun Chen took out his phone and headed over to the emergency staircase to update Song Xing Xing about Xia Yu's situation.

The moment Huo Yun Chen heard about Xia Yu's argument with her brother, he became so angry that he wanted to punch someone.

Song Xing Xing waited as she listened to Huo Yun Chen's heavy breathing on the other line. She knew that her friend was as angry as her upon hearing the story.

"Don't worry. I won't let them hurt Xia Yu," Song Xing Xing said. "I have already talked to a few people. A lawyer is already looking into the case to see what can be done."

Huo Yun Chen took a deep breath to calm down.

"However, we still need to ask Xia Yu what she wanted to do," Song Xing Xing said.

"Un. I know." Huo Yun Chen lowered his gaze. He hoped that Xia Yu would not be soft-hearted to the mother and son who had harmed her.

The two of them exchanged a few words and hang up after Huo Yun Chen promised that he will give Song Xing Xing any update on Xia Yu's situation.

The light signage was out just as he returned to the waiting room. A few minutes later, a doctor walked out in his scrub.

Brother Xiang walked over and quickly asked the doctor about Xia Yu's situation.

The doctor looked at the two men suspiciously. His expression only ease up when he heard Brother Xiang mention that they were both Xia Yu's friends.

The doctor gave almost the same explanation as Nurse Wei.

From the doctor, they also heard that Xia Yu had lost quite a lot of blood and it would take time for her to wake up.

After saying a few more words to them, the doctor then left to rest.

Xia Yu was pushed out to the observation room. She had a fall and they were worried that her head would be affected as well. She was still on her anesthetic and was expected to wake up in a few hours.

"Are you going to stay here?" Brother Xiang asked as they sat outside the room to look at Xia Yu behind the glass.

"It's better if I stay here and wait," Huo Yun Chen said. "She... did not have anyone else. If something happened, I can look after her."

Brother Xiang looked at the person beside him for a long time. His mouth opened as if he had something to say but once he saw the worried look on Huo Yun Chen's face, Brother Xiang chose not to speak at this time.

It was probably better if he wait until Xia Yu has woken up.

"Then, you should stay here," Brother Xiang spoke with a long sigh. "I will go to settle a few things first."

Huo Yun Chen nodded. His gaze was still on the person on the hospital bed. Seeing the wire around her body made him feel distressed.

Xia Yu woke up finding that she was in a very familiar room. She used to work in a hospital but this was the first time that she had watched the white ceiling and the bright white light like this.

Her mind whirled to what had happened to her that made her wake up in this hospital.

The arguments with her mother and younger brother appeared in her mind.

Just like any other day, her mother was demanding her to hand over her money so that her younger brother could buy a house and get married.

Those were the money that she got from working hard for a few years. There was no way that she was going to hand over her money just like that.

She got into another argument with her mother.

This argument made her determined to leave their side and take the offer to pursue her study. Perhaps, staying farther from this mother and son would be better for her.

Xia Yu was going to leave the house to calm down. However, she did not expect that the mother and son would follow her. Her brother got so angry that she refused to give him money that he had pushed her off the building.

It was not an accident.

Xia Yu felt as if something was stabbing her heart as she recalled her brother's eyes the moment he pushed her,

Her own brother wants to kill her for money.

A sob escaped her and the sudden move made her gasp in pain. Xia Yu felt as if she was dying.

The sounds of footsteps approached her. Then, Xia Yu heard the voice that she has been missing.

"You're awake."
