Chapter 37: Chosen Ones
Chapter 37: Chosen Ones
Alpha was on the open land, staring at the unusual sight before him. Zorvax, an enigmatic zombie, stood there, calm and collected. His demeanor contrasted sharply with the typical zombies, who moved erratically and mindlessly. There was something undoubtedly different about this one.
The tension in the air grew, creating a palpable sense of anticipation. Alpha's team, Agents 70 and 90, stood behind him, equally bewildered by the scene unfolding before them. It was a moment of uncertainty.
Then, a voice abruptly cut through the silence, sending shockwaves through the group. "What are you doing here?" The voice emanated from all directions simultaneously, leaving Alpha and his team searching for its source. Once more, the voice echoed, "What are you looking for?"
They turned their attention back to Zorvax, determined to find answers. Zorvax's zombie form, strangely calm, repeated, "What are you doing here?" His voice carried an odd mix of curiosity and indifference.
Alpha, struggling to comprehend the situation, stammered, "How can you talk? You're just a zombie." His voice quivered with disbelief.
Zorvax's lips curled into a cryptic smile, and he replied, "So you've figured out I'm a zombie. What do you want here?" His tone was enigmatic, making it difficult to gauge his intentions.
Alpha's astonishment only grew, but he pressed on, seeking answers. "What I'm doing here is to see the level 2 zombies, but I never expected to encounter one with consciousness."
With a hint of amusement, Zorvax retorted, "Is that all you want?" His expression remained an enigma, leaving Alpha and his team unsure how to proceed.
Tension gripped the room as Alpha's agents instinctively tightened their grips on their weapons. Alpha, resolute but unsure, gave the order. "We also want to take you back! Men, open fire!" His voice held a note of determination as the agents swiftly unleashed a barrage of gunfire in Zorvax's direction.
Bullets tore through the air as they were fired at Zorvax, but to everyone's astonishment, not a single shot found its mark. The agents were only level 1, whereas Zorvax was a formidable level 2. With incredible speed, Zorvax swiftly maneuvered behind the agents, his bone sword at the ready.
"Dont you think you're too slow?" Zorvax taunted, and in one swift motion, he decapitated the two agents. Their heads were sent flying into the air, a brief moment of shock crossing their faces before darkness claimed their vision.
Alpha, witnessing the gruesome display, was shocked by the power of this unique zombie. He had never imagined that a level 2 zombie could be so formidable. But amidst his shock, a more unsettling thought crept in – a level 2 zombie with consciousness was a terrifying prospect.
Zorvax turned his gaze towards Alpha and spoke, "So, you wanted to bring me back, but can you? I've taken the lives of your men." He pointed at the two lifeless bodies with his bone sword.
Observing the fallen agents, Alpha managed a smile. "They were just low-ranking members. We can always replace them. But now, I've witnessed your power."
Alpha then declared, "It seems I need to get serious." His suit began to undergo a remarkable transformation, changing colors right before their eyes.
Zorvax, too, noticed the changes in Alpha's suit, which now resembled a modern battle suit. Alpha's suit shifted to a fiery red. "Let's see if you can handle this." With surprising speed, Alpha struck Zorvax in the face with a flaming fist.
Zorvax was sent flying by the powerful blow, his hand touching his mask in shock. Not because of pain, for he was immune to it, but because Alpha's speed was truly impressive. Alpha's fist was ablaze with fire.
"Interesting, I never knew that humans had this technology, even in the midst of an apocalypse," Zorvax remarked.
Alpha responded confidently, "We are the chosen ones. Our technology advances rapidly, even in the face of an apocalypse. With this new power suit, I will make sure to capture you." His fiery fist burned even brighter.
Zorvax grinned, his mask concealing his emotions. "Let's see if you can pull it off." The scene in the open land had evolved into a confrontation between two enigmatic forces, one wielding advanced technology and the other a level 2 zombie with unique abilities.
In the desolate land, the confrontation between Alpha and Zorvax intensified. Alpha, fueled by determination and anger, rushed forward, launching a barrage of fiery punches at Zorvax. "You're just a zombie. Even though you have consciousness and are at level 2, I refuse to believe that I'm weaker than you!"
Zorvax grinned as he skillfully parried the fiery fists, his movements calculated and precise. "I may be just a zombie, but I managed to eliminate all three of your men. It seems that you humans are the weaker ones."
Alpha's frustration boiled over. "Damn you!" He channeled his energy, and his fist burst into an even larger flame. With precision, he landed a powerful hit on Zorvax's mask, sending the zombie flying once again. This time, the mask shattered, revealing Zorvax's face underneath.
Alpha was taken aback as he gazed upon Zorvax's uncovered visage. Zorvax's face, except for his pitch-black eyes and pale gray skin, appeared surprisingly human. "I never expected to see that your face is almost human," Alpha remarked in genuine surprise.
Zorvax's smile broadened as he responded, "Thank you for the compliment. I also prefer this face, as it's rather handsome. But let me share something with you."
Alpha, now puzzled, asked, "What is it?"
Zorvax continued, "You mentioned that you are the chosen human, but I am the chosen zombie." With a burst of speed, Zorvax maneuvered behind Alpha, landing a swift blow that sent him hurtling through the air in retaliation.
As Alpha tumbled, Zorvax's smile remained, and he taunted, "Now, do you understand what I meant?" The room bore witness to this battle of wits and power, as Alpha and Zorvax continued their tense and dynamic exchange, each trying to assert their dominance in this unexpected encounter.
