A random pokemon journey

Aranyani

Aranyani

The next day my team and I set out of the town where I finally accepted the reward for the quest from the system. As it turned out my pay for the league mission was deducted in exchange for the egg since it would have gone to the league normally. I wasn't too bothered by it since I was looking for a water type variant for my team anyways so even though it would be a couple months at the least before the Feebas reached a point where it could start training for battle and likely even longer before I could actually use it in battle I was fine with that.-

On a related note I got all the rewards for the quest which was ten exp tickets , forty thousand poke , one pokemon ticket and the final hidden reward was the egg itself which made sense given the optional task needed to earn it. "Alright folks lets put it to a vote do I use this ticket now and start training whatever comes of it now or after we get the egg checked out in Mauville?" I asked my team seriously.-

"En!" "Char!" "Hmm!" "Hmm!" "That's three votes for now and one for later. Sorry Vulcan majority rules." I said and Vulcan huffed angrily at the decision but knew not to argue against a fair vote. Taking out the pokemon ticket I said a quick prayer to RNGesus before I tore it in half causing it to burst into smoke that congealed into the infamous roulette wheel and started to spin. About a minute later the wheel stopped and I got to see what the next member of my team would be , a Treecko. Honestly I was surprised to see it since so far I haven't gotten any pokemon actually native to Hoenn until now so this threw me off.-

Of course the next wheel that determined whether or not the Treecko would be a variant or not showed up as well and I was honestly fine with whatever it would come out with. Another minute later and I learned that it would indeed be a variant but it would only have a single variation which was totally fine with me. And once the final wheel to determine the variation finished spinning I learned that it would be a shiny variant which while a bit mundane was still perfectly fine.-

A normal Treecko had light green skin everywhere but it's belly and tail that were reddish brown and dark green respectfully. The shiny version however had a slightly darker cyan skin while it belly was ash white and it's tail was a bloody red. The Treecko I got was no different in this regard as after I switched the ball it was in to a normal one from the one given by the system I bound it to me and released it. Immediately I took a look at it's status screen to see what I was working with here.-

[Pokemon: Treecko(Female)

LEVEL:1

Moveset: Leer(n) , pound(n) , leaf storm(n)(egg move)

Variations: Shiny

Attack:75

Defense:57

Sp. Atk: 91

Sp. Def:82

Speed:86

Ability: Overgrow(n)]

It was clear to me immediately that this Treecko was heavily geared to hit and hit elemental tactics just from this stat alignment. The crazy part though was that fucking egg move which was one of the single most powerful grass type moves that I knew of , stronger than solar beam in fact. The trade off for that power however was a two stage drop in Sp. atk whenever it was used. Unfortunately learning calm mind was not on the table for the species so the move has seriously limited use.-

"As you should know by now I am your new trainer Alexander Drake , but I go by Alex. These ones you see here are your teammates , Vulcan the Entei , Gaia the Pupitar , Rune the Charmeleon and Tank the Metapod. I also have a Feebas egg that will join the team some time in the future. If you have any questions or requests feel free to voice them now." I explained to the inquisitive reptile looking at me.-

"Tree! Tree! Ko!" After a few moments of thought the small mon asked for a pretty sounding name. I admit that it was probably the last sort of thing I was expecting to get asked for but it was at least easily accomplished. "Ceres?" rejected "Demeter?" rejected "Terra?" rejected yet again , it was at this point that I realized this was going to be harder than anticipated. "Nymph?" rejected with added glare "Aranyani?" I asked expecting to be rejected again but instead the small diva nodded in acceptance. "That's a bit of a mouthful so how about Yani for short?" I asked and the small reptile voiced her agreement.-

"Well then Yani you have two choices at the moment , first is that I use all these exp tickets on you and we skip a whole lot of time that would normally be needed to train you up in exchange for a massive headache. Alternatively we can spend the normal amount of time it would take to train you up which will increase your stats as well but you won't make it in time for the next gym battle. As an added bonus I can instead use those exp tickets to try and have all of you minus Vulcan possibly learn to use aura." I said honestly.-

I realized after dropping so many tickets into Tank when I first got him that it was sorta a dick move to do that without asking first , don't tell him that though. Why was none of these options based on myself instead like say dropping them into my poke medic or alchemy skills? Well from the way I can see it using the tickets on my pokemon was not a waste at all while I was still so horrible unskilled in my skills that I thought it best if I just spent normal time on them instead.-

I was a trainer first and foremost after all so if I wanted to take on the league tournament available at the end of the season for those with eight badges I needed to focus my attention on my pokemon. My skills came secondary and were more of a free time activity sort of thing than something I should really focus on heavily. Anyways Yani seemed to think about it for a moment or two before deciding what she wanted to do.-

"Tree! Ko! Ko! Tree! Tree!" she said which I roughly understood as her choosing the second option. When I asked why though I was surprised to learn that her answer was actually pretty well thought out. Basically she pointed out how learning aura while a long term project would also give the greatest reward in the long term. She also said that if she wanted any hope of evolving her variation she needed to raise her stats as she admitted they were actually lower than the average amount for her species. I was a little disappointed not having another battler ready by the time the challenge would come up but got over it nearly instantly.
