Chapter 75 - Your mother might still be alive.
This morning, for the last stroke, the worker brought a piece of news that shocked Su Lanfen’s manager and made her stumble back in fear. She sucked in a cold breath.
"Zhao Liying!"
...
In the spacious office, sitting behind an oversized office desk, Li Zhiqiang was silently going through some files. The office was so silent that one could hear the breathing of two people in it. The shuffling of papers would sound sharp and smooth and resound in the whole office. The aura of the person going smoothly through the papers was the most intense presence in the office.
There was a certain charm in his presence; a gracefulness that couldn’t be mimicked no matter how hard one tried. It was unique to only him.
"Brother, everything happened smoothly as we planned out. As you instructed me, Jing Lihua’s name was not dragged into it. After all those scandals were released, the whole media attention has been drawn towards them. After this day... Su Lanfen’s career is finished." Li Xun was startled when he looked up and found a smile on his brother’s face.
He couldn’t guess what his big brother was thinking. "I know Jing Lihua asked me not to interfere. But I wanted to get rid of Su Lanfen because she annoyed me at the fashion show. And not because of her. So she shouldn’t have anything to complain about." Li Zhiqiang laughed.
Li Xun. "..." Brother, you clearly approached Su Lanfen yourself on the fashion show and let her pester you. Was it so you could find an excuse to give to your wife for destroying her? Ah... So weird.
Li Xun couldn’t have guessed his brother did all that... Just to find an excuse.
"Brother why did you specifically helped Zhao Liying to clear her name from her scandal?" Zhao Liying scandal was caused by Su Lanen. So by exposing Su Lanfen, Zhao Liying name was automatically cleared. "Is it because she is in good terms with Jing Lihua?"
His brother didn’t say anything and Li Xun knew it counted as a yes. It meany he must befriend his soon to be sister-in-law as quick as possible!
"About the crisis, we had in the company..." Li Xun’s face looked embarrassed for letting down his brother.
"It is not your fault. In fact, it’s all Wu JunJie doing." Li Zhiqiang declared; his face devoid of any hint of doubt. He was certain of his words.
"Brother, how are you so sure?"
Li Zhiqiang flashed the files he had been going through. "Look at this. You are only the in-charge of one department so you might lack sufficient insight. But the overall complication is constructed by the coalesces of many small hurdles created by different companies. I’ve inspected all those companies and all of them seem to share a connection or a history with Wu family."
Li Xun was dazed with his brother’s deep insight. "Brother you are a God! How do you manage to do all this with such... with such coolness!" He got lost in emotions and exclaimed.
"Silence." Li Zhiqiang threw the files in front of Li Xun. "I have a task for you. Go and talk with the representatives of all the enlisted companies here. Propose them a better alternative than that Wu JunJie. If they accept then leave with a warning. But if they decline..." Li Zhiqiang glanced at his brother and said no more.
Li Xun understood what to do if those pitiful people declined. Hopefully, they wouldn’t if they knew what was best for them. "Brother is it because of Wu Junjie involvement this time that you are being so uncompromising?"
"That bastard needs to know that he can’t toy with us like this."
"Brother, finally you are going to take action. You have allowed that Wu family to play around a lot in the past. That Wu JunJie always infuriated me to death with his c.o.c.ky attitude. With our unresponsiveness, he assumed that we didn’t have the guts to oppose him."
Li Zhiqiang had not taken any action till yet because he was afraid that Wu JunJie might direct his indignation towards Jing Lihua. So Li Zhiqiang had been ’relatively’ tolerant. But now that from now on Jing Lihua would be under his direct protection, he didn’t need to hold back.
"Also, today arrive at our family restaurant before nine am."
"Ha...? Brother it’s been so long since we visited Uncle Wei restaurant. I greatly miss his cooking. Why do you want to visit suddenly?"
Then Li Xun exclaimed. "I know! You want to take sister-in-law there?"
"Be there before nine am. She wants to meet you."
...
After much reluctance, Heng Bingwen finally called his President. Last time he really pissed her off. So he was scared to call her.
"President, I called to ask for directions. I’ve done all of your assigned task. What must I do next?"
When Jing Lihua heard his question, she herself was at a loss. "Are you still In Hong Kong?"
"Yes, President. I’m staying at a friend’s. I had a job to attend at Hong Kong."
"What do you think those results implied?" Jing Lihua didn’t have time to sort them out. Because soon after that, Li Zhiqiang had given her the shock of her life.
"President, If I may... There is something else I want to tell you."
Jing Lihua didn’t like that. "You haven’t told me anything last night?"
Heng Bingwen complained. "I wanted to! But you hit me and chased me out. I was so scared... so scared to even call you..."
"Stop being dramatic and shoot what it is" Jing Lihua felt like that this Heng Bingwen was getting more and more comfortable around her to even joke. Jing Lihua liked to be the President who would have her fear deep in her employee’s hearts.
Though Jing Lihua thought so, she liked that little gal.
"President, your mother DNA didn’t match yours but your grandfathers did. Also, your mother’s DNA didn’t match her own father. What do you think the most possible answer to this question."
"My mother was not my grandfather’s actual daughter. And I might be a child from grandfather’s actual daughter who has, for some reason, given me up?"
"You can say so. But there is something more noteworthy. While there is no doubt in your grandfather and father’s DNA, your mother’s DNA was taken from her dead body. What if... What if the DNA was not actually your mother’s?"
"You are trying to say..." Jing Lihua trailed off.
"The dead body they found that day might be not of your mother’s. In other words, your mother might still be alive!
